Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

(19 reviews)

On January 9, 2026, I visited this Valvoline to get an oil change on my 2020 Honda Accord. It was a…read morewindy day as I looked at the the Weather Channel app and the wind was blowing over 21 mph around this time. The highest wind I saw on was 27 mph. When I arrived, there were 7 cars waiting and 1 car in each of the 2 bays. I patiently waited for 2 hours to get an oil change. There was an issue that arose as Eli and D-Lo were finishing up the service on my car. D-Lo opened the garage door while my hood was still up. The wind was blowing so hard at this moment (creating a wind tunnel) that it whipped the hood of my car back so much that it almost ripped my hood off the hinges. Eli and D-Lo saw this happen so they grabbed the hood on each side of the car and tried to close it, but they couldn't close it against the wind blowing. I'm in the car the whole time watching this happen so I yelled out the window, "It's the wind. Close the garage door." Eli heard me and yelled to D-Lo to close the garage door. Eli held the hood of my car from flying off while D-Lo went to close the garage door. There was an issue with closing the garage door so they switched and D-Lo held the hood from snapping off while Eli fixed the garage door issue and was able to close it. They were able to close the hood of my car after the garage door was closed. They finished servicing my car then I left. During this event my car was damaged which I was unaware of until I got home and discovered it. The edges of my car where the hood attaches to the rest of the car were bent upwards since the hood blew back beyond capacity and almost tore right off. The hood of my car still being open when the garage door was opened up created this damage. I believe the hood would have ripped off if they weren't holding it. When I discovered the damage I called to speak with the manager, Nicole. After explaining the situation, she told me that I would have to come back for her to assess the damage to the vehicle. She was not apologetic at all and seemed to be on the defense the whole time. I really didn't have time but I returned and parked in their parking lot. Nicole saw me park then she went over to speak with Eli. After that, she had another employee come out to my car and give me instructions. She told him to tell me that I needed to come into the bay for her to assess the vehicle. I decided not to go to the back of the line and wait again for an unknown amount of time as there were 6 cars waiting. On January 15, 2026, I went to the same Valvoline after work during a snow storm. When I arrived there was no wait and I was able to get right into the bay. Nicole came out with an attitude and asked me where the damage was on my car. I showed her and she said, "Yeah we're not fixing that." I said, "Why not? This happened at your facility under your care. I know you watched the video." She said, "Yes, I watched it and we're not fixing it. We can't control the wind. Our policy is to keep the garage door open in above 45 degree weather." I said, "But, you can control the process and the garage door wasn't open the whole time. It was opened while my hood was still open creating this problem. That's ok, I'll just call back the customer care number." With a smug attitude she said, "Ok they're just going to send you back to me." Then she walked away. I called customer care and they indeed tried to send me back to her. I requested to speak with the general manager and I still haven't received a return phone call yet. I've been dealing with this issue for over 2 weeks now. A flawed process of having the garage door closed to do the oil change on an overly windy 47 degree day, to opening up the garage door which created a wind tunnel prior to closing the hood is what damaged my car. Not the wind alone. My car was damaged by a person modifying the environment by opening the garage door which allowed the wind to just about snap the hood of my car off. Needless to say, I will not be doing business with Valvoline anymore.

Lots of ways to save - coupons and even Groupons!…read more I'm a frequent visitor of this Valvoline location. Mainly it's just because it's centrally located in South Euclid and easily accessible from the main road. Most of my experiences here have been pretty average. I'll focus this review on my historical experience and latest visit. My latest visit was very impressive! I stopped in for a quick oil change tonight. Wait time was very short, service extremely friendly, and oil service very quick. It was perhaps the fastest oil change in my years of visiting Valvoline. I really appreciated one of the employees (Justin) being very detailed in his explanations, providing sound recommendations, and answering questions. I felt that my car was well inspected and cared for! I felt at ease leaving this location and wanted to specifically come back here next time. Wait times: Generally, wait times at this store are pretty long. This is a very busy location. Peak times appear to be weeknights and weekends. While the lines are well managed, it takes a long time to get in. Plan for extra time during peak hours. Customer Service: Customer Service here tends to be very average. It's because it's such a popular location and there is really no time to be personable with all customers. On slow days, you'll get great service. The employees always help you reset your oil change lights, read off customized recommendations, and generally answer questions. I feel good about their knowledge level. They always inquire if you have a coupon which allows you to save a little! Prices: Prices at Valvoline are consistently higher than at other competitors' businesses. You can find some ways to save - coupons (online), coupons (via mail), coupons to your phone, and even Groupon deals! If you have a little time, stop in at this location to get your oil changed! On a slow day/night, you'll have as great of an experience as I recently had!

Absolutely horrible experience…read more Went for an oil change and opted to get a coolant change after their inspection. A trainee that was clearly doing a coolant change for the first time was working on my car, but the technician whom was supposed to be supervising him was more interested in complaining to the other staff about having to be there. I garaged the car for a couple of weeks then went on a road trip, only to have my check engine light turn on and my engine to start smoking. Fortunately there was a mechanic a short distance away who was able to help. It was quickly found out that the coolant cap was not put on right, it all splashed out during the drive, and there were air bubbles throughout the system. It required a full coolant flush and exchange. The mechanic went as far as saying "this was very bad work, and if I ever had an employee do this, it would be an instant refund and apology". I called take 5 to get a refund and a claim was filed. After a week of not hearing anything, I called again and left another claim. After yet another week of not hearing anything, I called again and filed a third claim. Several weeks later, I get a call from a "third party claims representative" who denied the refund because the burden of proof that this was due to the negligence of take 5 was on me. Despite getting paperwork from the mechanic that fixed my car indicating that this was very likely due to poor coolant exchange servicing, this did not serve as adequate proof. I asked what would possibly constitute a level of proof that would get me my refund, to which he said "that's for you to figure out." Truly a nightmarish experience and I will never be bringing my car to any take 5 again.

THE ONLY SHOP I GO TO…read more You know I usually go to a "car-buddy" for repairs. But a few years back, he said "i don't have have the gear to do this job, but I went to ""car-school"" with my friend at Midas, you should go to him" And now 4 years later I still go here for most of my car repairs. It's easy for a shop to lie about what you need and take advantage of you, but I have 100% faith in these people at Midas on 117th. Seriously, take my word as a person is taking the time to write this for others peoples sake. This is a great shop and the only shop I can stand behind.

I must say, I love this Midas…read more Why, you might ask? Because I can get in and out, with a $20 oil change, which would have taken me 4 hours at the Toyota Dealership. The owner is Russian? and he's a loud friendly guy. He always sits down to talk to me, telling me about his family, about life, just...everything. I enjoy going into this Midas. The other individuals that are there are straight to the point- I get in and out without getting overcharged. And they're willing to talk to me straight. I hate going to car dealerships, them seeing that you're a girl thinking you don't know anything, and then giving you a list of "things suggested to get done." Oh puhleeze. This Midas? They tell you, straight to the point. Don't get me wrong. I'm not the typical girl- I know my car and I know where to get it serviced and how to haggle my way down to a decent price. I'm not one to get ripped off. However, I find that Midas in University Heights is simply stellar- they're willing to look at my car if I have an issue, and it's just...good price. In and out on a Saturday in 30 mins? Less than an hour for fixing my brakes? yes, please. Having a friendly owner tell you about life during those 30 mins? Yes please, yes indeed. Love this Midas.

I called immediately at 8am to explain that my car was towed there due to two blown tires on the driver's side and a bent rim on the front, driver side rim. After awaiting until about 10am and not receiving a call back, I uber'd up to this location. I was advised that although my tires were under warranty, they would have to be ordered and that I would need an entirely new rim for the front, driver's side rim, as it could not be repaired. I opted to order my own rim but would leave my car there to await the arrival of the two new tires. I was advised before leaving that the tires and car should be ready by Wednesday, Jan. 21st. I arrived on Wednesday morning at 8am to pick up my work badge from my vehicle, and noticed that it was no longer in the garage, but pulled into a parking lot (mind you, there was a spare on the front tire, but the back tire was still flat -rim to the ground). I received a call Wednesday evening that my car would also need a rim on the back tire as well and that apparently this was not noticed during the initial inspection of the vehicle on Monday. I immediately asked how was my car moved from the garage to the NTB parking lot, as I noticed earlier that morning when I went to pick up my work badge. I was advised that it was driven ON THE FLAT TIRE AND RIM to be moved into the parking lot. So the obvious question would be - is that why now I suddenly needed a new rim on the back tire. Because after the initial inspection on that Monday, I was told that the back tire rim was fine - just the front needed to be replaced. Thursday morning, I received a call from the very unprofessional Chad who repeated that I needed a rim in the back. When I asked is it possible the back rim was damaged when it was driven on by your technicians to move my vehicle from the garage to the parking lot. His response was "well you drove it here on the rim". WHICH IS INCORRECT. My vehicle was TOWED BY AAA at 1am on 1/19/2026. I did not drive it there. Then he went on to say get very smart and unprofessional with me stating that "they are not responsible for my car. And either way I need a new rim so either order it or not". Interesting. Myself and my boyfriend arrived to NTB shortly there after, and interestingly enough, Chad had a totally different tone now that I was with a man, as opposed to how he sounded on the phone when it was just I (or so he thought. My boyfriend was in the background listening to the entire conversation). Chad then explains that he could charge me $399.99 to "fix" the damage rim. When my boyfriend asked to see the now "damaged" rim on the back tire, Chad goes to the garage then comes back and miraculously there was an error. The technician "accidently" put the damaged rim from the front, drivers side tire on the rear tire. So the rear rim was in fact fine. Mind you, the "damaged" rim that they accidently put on the rear tire, is the same rim from the front tire that I was initially told could not be fixed, when I came to NTB that Monday, alone, which is why I ordered a new one. Besides the incredibly NASTY and unprofessional way in which Chad does business, the fact that it took me coming up to the shop with a man to get accurate information and "semi" professional service is egregious. The communication is piss poor. I has to call numerous times to check on my vehicle and Chad even made a comment, when I brought my replacement rim, that was used but in great condition, that he doesn't work on used rims because they often arrive bent. Mine was not. But making the comment before you even saw the rim let's me know that he was going to try his best to get me to purchase a new rim from NTB that would have been $655. I would not recommend this NTB location ANYONE. Terrible service, and negligent. How do you put the wrong, damaged, rim on a new tire when you have the undamaged one there as well?????????????????
