Came on a Friday night, but just about had the place to ourselves despite the warm weather for an evening in January. Food took a while. My hubby had received and fully eaten his meal that he had ordered from another truck while I was still waiting. And unfortunately they were not worth the wait. Sad sad tacos. The shrimp was fishy which was a huge red flag. All of it was very bland. $18 including a tip for small flavorless tacos. The only redeeming quality was the mango salsa but you can't really mess up mango salsa. But when the place is called Mr Fish you would think you could get shrimp that wasn't small, dry and fishy. Decided to try the tacos! I even looked at the reviews before I bought them. Everyone was saying how good they are !! But failed to mention it was corn tacos (which i do not like) so I ordered a fish & shrimp taco! I only ate the shrimp & fish from the taco & left the shell. The tacos were good but the reviews didn't mention it was a popcorn shrimp taco. Nevertheless fish was well seasoned, the cabbage and other veggies were good & fresh! Mr. Fish is a food truck which posts up at The Block SA, a food truck part. I stopped by on Easter and they were open for lunch along with two other food trucks. The menu mainly consists of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and loaded fries. As their name makes apparent, a lot of their dishes include either shrimp or mahi-mahi. I went with the Surf & Turf Burrito and 1/2 Cali Fries combo for $15. The Surf & Turf Burrito comes with carne asada, shrimp, red cabbage, onions, pico, cotija cheese, and chipotle crema. They cut the burrito in two and wrap it in tin foil for you to make it easier to eat. The burrito was really, really good. They don't skimp on the shrimp and the shrimp itself is a good size. The Cali fries are similar to the burrito in that they're served with carne asada, red cabbage, pico, green onions, cotija cheese, and chipotle crema. The fries are shoestring and they were nicely seasoned. I paid cash and they were out of change so they weren't able to give me my change. They did make up for it as I changed my order last minute and they were super nice in accommodating my last-minute request. The food came out quickly. I'd definitely come back to order their tacos! Taco Tuesday stopped by the block and decided to get fish tacos. I got 1 mahi mahi, 1 grilled shrimp. And 1 fish. The shrimp did not taste grilled at all. The other 2 were fried. All 3 lacked flavor and were very basic tasting. I had high hopes since there was such good reviews. What was good was the cali fries. That was damn good. So after I got off of work on Friday at 4pm, I drove to The Block SA hoping to eat one of my favorite meals a Surf & Turf Burrito and Fries from Mr. Fish. I guess I came to early, I waited about 2 hours before they started to make the food. I wish they would use their app so you can know when they are open because the food is that good. Unfortunately, that day they only had shrimp quesadillas. The quesadilla is not as good as the Surf & Turf. If you go, you should probably go later in the evening. Truck was out in the neighborhood and decided to give them a try. I absolutely love fish tacos, especially grilled fish. I bought an order of a grilled shrimp taco, mahi mahi taco and some fries and sadly the fries were the best part. If I'm paying 10+ dollars, I'd like more than 2 pieces of shrimp or thinly sliced grilled fish. The tacos came with more fixings than they did protein. The worst part of my meal though..was the obvious canned pineapple used. It took away from all the flavors in the taco and made everything overly sweet with that canned syrupy flavor. Being from California it's very rare to see places advertise cali fries so I had to try them. They did not disappoint. These fries had a flare to them. They consisted of fries,carne asada,yellow queso,tomatoes,cilantro,purple cabbage and chipotle drizzle. The Cali fries I've tasted before are usually more basic.Fries were cooked to perfection (crispy). The carne asada was seasoned well. I would order these over cheese fries any day. Maybe it's just me, but it wasn't my favorite. The tacos were 3x$10 at the block, which is okay after seeing the menu on a regular day (my tacos would have added up to that). No problem. I got the Mahi Mahi, Shrimp, and Baja Fish (fried Mahi Mahi). The Mahi Mahi fish (grilled) is delectable. BUT.... the tacos were WAY too crazy with all the stuff that came in it. I couldn't even really taste the fish. Pineapple, sauce, cabbage, cheese, tomato, some herb green... I couldn't really hold up the taco without chunks just falling back down to the tray. Normally that's a VERY GOOD thing, but here I didn't get the satisfaction I normally do of my fishie fishies. Want to try again on a regular taco truck day (not The Block - I've seen them at my office building before) to see if they were just fluke tacos. read more

Never judge a book by its cover! I went to the Block with some friends one day and came across this food truck. The truck itself and the color didn't seem appealing but I saw their menu and the pictures of the food they serve. It seemed like it would be good and it was $8 for shrimp quesadillas. I was thinking it would be a typical quesadilla just cheesy and flat but MAN OH MAN! First off the quesadilla was not small or flat at all it was loaded with shrimp, red cabbage, cheese, pineapple and more. They give you a lot for the price it is. Ive gotten it twice and it's fresh every time you get it. My brother has gotten their loaded cali fries and they really load that thing and never shorten you on sauce, cheese or anything. I contacted Mr Fish for an event and they confirmed they would be there. Well, BIG MISTAKE. They showed up and two hours later they told me they had another offer for more money and that they were leaving. They were not even embarassed about it, and didn't care to leave when my event was just starting. I called the office and the person in charge told that another truck was on its way, but they were just fooling me , the truck never arrived. This people don't care or understand about service, so if you have an important event DON'T TRUST them and consider any other food truck because they don't care at all to leave you hanging there. read more

Fish tacos are pretty straightforward, but there's plenty of ways to screw them up. These guys did NOT screw them up. The fish was lightly battered and fried in fresh oil, it was crispy and delicious. The cabbage on the tacos was fresh and also came with lime and cilantro. The lemon pepper fries were crispy and good. Oil is a big deal, other food trucks in the area (my work had a food truck event today) were serving dark brown fried foods that were obviously cooked in old oil. Glad I picked Mr. Fish! Oh, and the salsas were tasty, I had the roja and the creamy chipotle, very flavorful and good. The only thing I would change is the black beans are kind of bland, they are just plain black beans. As they are the only other side option than fries, it'd be nice if they had a little more flair. Maybe some onions, cilantro and lime in the beans would make them more flavorful. This place was parked at Street Fare SA and is a-freakin-mazing. I shared the baja shrimp tacos and the popcorn shrimp loaded fries and I was in heaven. You may think to yourself, man this place seems pricey...but it is worth EVERY penny. I would come back just to try everything on the menu. Definitely will be following them. I wasn't too impressed with my first attempt ordering food from a truck but this one, has changed my mind. My taco was so good. Terrible experience today. The first few times I came here it was good. Today there were two new people operating the truck. They we're not friendly at all when I placed my order. Then we waited maybe 20 minutes for our food. We never heard them call our number. Usually they scream the numbers out, but tonight we heard nothing. We went to the counter and asked if the food was ready. The guy at the counter stared at us and just said "yes" and continued staring at us. They finally handed us the fish tacos. They were cold and looked old or as if they had been refried and the tacon fillings were sparse at best. Far off from our previous experiences. Terrible waste of 30 dollars. read more

I gave this place two chances , the first time the mani mahi tacos were okay , but they were falling apart . The second time i tried the Baja tacos & I asked for double tortillas. I got attitude for it but they did it for me anyway . The Baja tacos were cold and the batter around the fish was soft and in parts almost completely raw. They definitely had been microwaved because the tacos were ready too fast. The mayo sauce was okay but the pickled onions tasted raw with almost no pickle flavor . It was just a disaster maybe I caught them on a bad night twice in a row but I was really disappointed with everything. I will never recommend and would never try again . read more

Mr. Fish was at Market Days in Boerne, Tx today. The weather put a damper on the market, but Mr. Fish stayed open when others closed. I tried the Mahi Fish Taco and it was very good. It had grilled Mahi Mahi, red cabbage, pico de gallo and Cojita cheese with a habanero sauce. I opted out of the pineapple and onions. Was served on a single corn tortilla.
