Absolutely love Mr. Empanada! The chicken and broccoli empanada is always a favorite--so flavorful and perfectly cooked--and the crab empanada is amazing too, super tasty and not skimpy at all. I've also used them for catering for my gender reveal and they did such a great job. Everything was fresh, on time, and a huge hit with our guests. Great food, great service, and you can tell they really care about what they do. Friendly vibe, Highly recommend! read more

What's not to love about an empanada? A fluffy, flaky pastry filled with savory meats and vegetables, easily eaten on the go, is something almost anyone can appreciate. At Mr. Empanada, they've perfected the art of making these tasty handhelds over their last 35 years in the Bay Area. Some are filled with cheeses, sausage, and meats. They also offer sweet empanadas, filled with apple, pumpkin, or fruit. read more

Mr Empanada - Outside - Empanadas Near Me - Lutz, Florida

The Cuban, deviled crab and empanada was good. The small chef salad was not good - all lettuce, hardly any ham and couldn't see any cheese? The last time I had gotten this (maybe over a year ago?) was when the previous owner was there and the salad was loaded with ham and cheese. read more

My favorite empanadas when I visit Tampa. I love all the locations, and this is a new one for me to visit. It was hot and we were hungry so we stopped at this location to cool off and get some food. Ordering was easy, staff was friendly and advised of what they were out of. The shop was busy and tables were full when we arrived, but by the time we ordered and got drinks a table freed up. The shop was the perfect cool. This shop was like the others shops, tidy and clean. Staff had even cleaned the table before we sat down. Very nice! When food arrived I just took my time and enjoyed each bite of my empanada. So delicious. read more

Mr Empanada - Chicken, broccoli and cheese - Empanadas Near Me - Lutz, Florida

My partner came here once before and told me he loved it (very rare!). It's a bit out of the way for us but we were able to make a stop since we were in the area. The place is located in a nice plaza, when you walk in the establishment it is a bit small but overall its more of a to go or quick snack type of place anyway. I did notice that they had some tables outside if you wanted to sit and eat there. I ordered two crab meat empanadas and he ordered two as well but one with cheese, chicken and broccoli and the other ground beef along with two orders of the fries (they are his favorite and yes both were for him!). The staff was nice and the service was quick. Since its the time of the coronavirus, we took our empanadas to go and ate them in the car. We did try to go to another Mr empanadas location a few months prior and were led to a spot in ybor. It wasn't actually a mr empanadas location but more so they sold the empanadas there as well. They were terrible! So now, trying it again, I was a bit hesitant as I was traumatized from our last experience. But I have to say they these were completely different to our experience in ybor, these were delicious, non greasy, and full of filling! To my surprise, I was pretty full eating the two empanadas (and I can sure eat lol). If I am in the area again I will make sure to pop in! read more

Mr Empanada - the incorrect hours - Empanadas Near Me - Lutz, Florida

The Mr. Empanada on Kennedy Blvd. is one of my favorite places to stop in for quick snacks or party platters. I was happy to see a location in Lutz. I stopped in for lunch and didn't realize just how poppin' this location would be. Luckily, I wasn't in a rush and saw they had a great deal. Combo #1 is 4 empanadas for $11.89. Sounds good to me! I'll have the beef & cheese please! Don't forget the Texas Pete! Wait time was a lot shorter than I expected. The empanadas itself wasn't so great. The outter part kind of broke up and fell apart. The filling wasn't pipping hot either. Maybe it needed to be cooked longer? Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed. read more

Mr Empanada - Menu - Empanadas Near Me - Lutz, Florida

I ordered 1 beef and 1 spinach empanada and more than 20min past and my order never came out. Had I not approached the front desk to inquire, I would of never received my order. The girl in the back saw me and then placed my ordered to fry. There was no sincere apology of the oversight, but a simple under stated and brushed off apology. The owner chimed in rudely, followed by another man also yelling; very upsetting and comes to show you the type of place this is. Needless to say, there should of been a better approach to resolving this, as we had already spent $80 on 2 party trays but were treated as if we were in the wrong although the mistake was made the kitchen. read more

To was Empanada day, well things moved SLOW here. Usually it goes along ok in and out in 10 minutes. Not today almost 30min. The staff was to say the least unmotivated. Also not really thinking ahead when the orders were being give'n out. Oh the other item was the soda machine was inoperative and it was like oh well ! I'll be back but wasn't a good day for them. read more

Was in the mood for empanadas and made a trip to the best location. In my opinion... went in and was quickly greeted by I believe the owner and he's always nice. Ordered the 4 empanada combo beef- beef with cheese and 2 additional chicken and broccoli along with Italian sausage and cheese. All made fresh to order. My favorite is the beef and cheese with hot sauce . I like the idea of getting a punch card which is stamped after you order to eventually get free empanadas which I happened to get this visit. Will definitely return soon. read more

Talk about reliably great empanadas and phenomenal customer service! I usually order take out, but we ended up here with friends today. We got our usual beef, beef and cheese, and guava and cream cheese. Also, the kids chicken nuggets were a huge pleasant surprise, very good! Real chicken! After our savory choices we went to bite into the guava ones and were surprised by Buffalo chicken! while we were surprised ... I have to say the Buffalo chicken was very very good! We mentioned it to them in case labels got switched around. They went above and beyond to make it right and gave us our corrected guavas plus an extra to take home. Great team working there, we all had a nice laugh about it! We love this place! read more

Went out of my way to go by here today for lunch and arrived at 11:15 and they were still closed. Had to go somewhere else for lunch and drove back by at 11:45 and then they were now open. This is not the first time I have been by this location for lunch during the posted open hours and the door is locked and the sign saying closed. They should really consider opening the doors earlier. They are missing a lot of business. Update to the response below.. the sign on the front door clearly read "closed" at 11:15 am. They may have been there but the sign said closed. so you are incorrect. read more

Came here for a quick snack... empanada and salad. They claim to have chef's salad, small order, I'm excited. I eat my empanada on the way home... and it's good...very good....even though it's luke warm by now. My chef's salad....... really? I mean, really????..... a bunch of green olives thrown on top of iceberg lettuce?????. I asked the lovely girl at the cash register " that's a chefs salad not side right?" "It's here in the receipt" she replied gleefully..... gleefully!!!! It's 7:45... and I have to find something to eat..... olives and iceberg? And some kind of Cesar dressing! read more

Would give them 0 stars if I could. What business keep their phone off the hook during the holidays because they are too busy to answer it? This is what I was told when I had no choice but to go in person to place an order only to be told they cannot take any catering orders! RIDICULOUS way to do or run a business! It's very disappointing. We ordered a few different flavors and they all tasted very plain and no seasoning at all. It's our first time there but the service didn't help at all. Totally wasted of money. Rather prefer Empanada from gas station. Save your money read more

Want to like this location, as it is close by, but this location continues to disappoint. I ordered a tray of empanadas for the football game and when I went to get them No Order. I'm pretty sure the guy who runs this location is the one that took my call when I placed my order the day before, as I've talked to him before. He was dismissive when I called to place the order. He's not always personable, which doesn't typically bother me much. I guess I will drive further to another location to see if the service is any better. read more

I come here on my lunch break all the time. The hole place looks very clean and the empanadas are so good my favorites are the spinach and artichoke as well at the guava cream cheese. I LOVE Mr. Empanada. If I had the money, I'd be comin' here for every meal, every day. I have been an avid Mr. Empanada lover for about 4 years now, and do not plan on stopping. Every time my family asks what we should get to eat, I say empanadas. But they know I don't mean just any ol' empanada. I mean Mr. Empanada. I'm moving in a month and I am SO SAD that I won't be able to just get up and get some empanadas. Everyone who works here is so nice and it's just an overall good experience. I mean, what's better than empanadas and a nice staff??? Anyways, take it from me and go to Mr. Empanada. You're life will be changed. You won't expect it, but it'll happen. read more

Mr Empanada - LOVE ME SOME BEEF & CHEESE EMPANADAS!!! TIME TO GRUB - Empanadas Near Me - Lutz, Florida

My first time going. Decided to go because of the reviews. The staff is super nice and their food is great! Their empanadas and their Cuban sandwich in particular. However, their salad was less than subpar and some of their sodas tasted watered down. I would call in large orders because they do get busy. And takeout is a better option because it's a small place. But the food is fairly priced and it's really good. Recommend going for a small bite to eat. read more

Mr Empananda is continuing to make their delicious empanadas. We went there this week and had the Italian sausage, beef and cheese, and cream cheese and guava empanadas. They gave us Lightning hockey flag to support the team. Their food is delicious as always. They still have outside dining, but only one table with an umbrella at the time. My four year old loves the kids meal. It includes 3 small empanadas, steak fries, and a fountain drink. It's actually a pretty big portion for a kids meal. read more

I'm as stuffed as an Empanada. This was my first visit and I enjoyed all of the empanadas I ordered. The ones I picked were Pizza, Guava and Cream Cheese, Crabmeat, and BBQ Chicken. The crust was super flaky and the pocket was filled with toppings. I enjoyed each one but my favorite surprisingly was the Guava and Cream Cheese. The crabmeat did have some shell bits in it but that just showed that they used real crab meat. I recommend calling ahead for big orders or sandwiches because they were pretty busy. Even though they were packed the service was great. Prices are higher than I expected though, with it being around $3 average per Empanada but it's worth it. read more

You really can't beat a guava and creal cheese empanada. But $3? Come on now. But man are they good. An occasional guilty pleasure.

Good, recommend the BBQ chicken & Guava/ cheese empanada. Beef empanada are okay. Service is great. Very timely and respectful employees.

Easiest place for lunch! The spinach and artichoke empanada and some buttered toast are literally my favorite items. I'd eat it everyday if I could lol. Call it in typically takes like 10-15 mins (depending on what you get), so it's easy to run in and out! They do have seating outside which is nice. Everyone's staffed is pretty nice as well! I had three different types of empanadas and every single one was delicious. They were made fresh to order and full of love. I had the Buffalo chicken, spinach Alfredo, and beef n cheese. They were great and very knowledgeable. I will definitely be back. read more

Why 4 Stars? This spot is really close to a 5 Star review. Great owner, great food, crispy fries. Usually pretty packed is the only knock I can really think of. Not bad, but nothing more than that. The place was hot and was not really clean. Also was not tea.

I went in a while back to order some empanadas for my daughter's party. The man behind the counter was really nice. He explained the pricing, and types of empanadas they had. As I was sitting there, two people who worked there came in and greeted me. One went in the back somewhere and one came straight into the kitchen. Still being nice and friendly, but went right into the refrigerator without washing his hands. I got up and made an excuse to leave immediately. When it comes to cleanliness at a place where I will eat or order food from, I cannot compromise. read more
