A Battle Creek classic! I have loved coming here since I was a kid. I usually get a burger, but there are a ton of other options on the menu, from salads to shrimp baskets. I'm not a fan of olive burgers but everyone else I know is, and they all say they are great. I prefer the double cheeseburger deluxe, which always tastes fresh and delicious. The onion rings are the size of donuts and could be a meal themselves! And krinkle fries!! The one thing I've never tried here is breakfast, but I have heard about the All in One breakfast sandwich, and it's on my list to try soon! read more

You know, I love greasy spoons. I had high hopes for this one. It's a bit of a dated interior and the menu was old looking so I had pretty high hopes that the food was good. But it was just... okay. I suppose. My fries were stale, but warm. Onion rings had so much batter on them it was hardly enjoyable. Burger was okay. I wish it was seasoned. We got milkshakes and I hardly want to write anything about them since they were so forgettable. The service was okay. There was only one woman running the register and the drive thru, I think there was only one cook too. So it was a bit of a slow service and everything. I wouldn't come back here again, but I still somewhat ate my food minus the fries and onion rings. Just not a particularly good experience. read more

The food is pretty decent, especially for the price. But the staff, especially the manager that was on duty was awful. Everything about her screamed "I don't want to be here" she was short and curt when taking my wife and I's order. She was also leaning on the counter while taking the order. Which is not just kind of gross, but shows her lack of desire to want to be at work. And that spreads to her crew, who all seemed like they were miserable. The store is also not ever clean, and shows its age. Again( the food is fine. It's not amazing or anything, but it's fine for the price. I wouldn't normally complain about this restaurant but it's been 4 times in a row now that they've done something stupid to mess up my order. This last time (just today) has been very frustrating knowing that I paid for a chicken tender salad with 3 ranch cups, comes to just over 10 dollars in total; however I received two chicken tenders and burnt ass fries instead of my salad. The local greasy spoon. Loved this place as a child, so many great memories of this place, especially the onion rings. Probably not a place to take a date, but the kids love this place and the staff is super friendly. A special shout out to Tracy who provided exceptional customer service. I was just there today order chicken club with cheese did not get cheese and then I order for my mom fish basket with curly fires and they told there were out so told them the shrimp basket there were out no big deal it happened so i said hamburger with everything well the hamburger didn't have everything no mustard catsup and no mayo or Is tomato or lettuce plus I had to ask about are fires when he brought me are sandwiches he said I didn't know you still wanted then yeah the lady did she told me she was going to still make the fires I will not be going back read more

Just can't get a drive thru order right. placed my order, they read it back to me. When I received my order, I asked again to verify what was given to me and was assured I was given what I ordered. So this restaurant is not bad. From my understanding, it has been open since 1952. The decor says it has not been updated since the 70's, but I digress. The parking lot of fairly small. Each time I've gone, I find parking. However, I'm sure on a weekend or Friday night, parking could be atrocious. The servers are solid. Friendly and efficient. Now the food. So the group I went with all purchased breakfast burritos. Apparently they were solid. My All in One sandwich was good. Not excellent but good. Personally, I should've ordered extra cheese but that's a different story. I there are several more things that I do want to try, so I'm sure I'll update the list. read more

Worst restaurant in Battle Creek if you doordash, grubhub or uberEats. They are arrogant, slow, don't care about delivery orders and have an attitude toward drivers. Have also eaten there a couple times. Food is not that good and is on the high side of prices. Far too many locally owned restaurants to choose from. Without their collection of old retirees that hang out there for hours multiple times a week, I doubt they could stay in business. read more

Blast from the past style walk-up diner restaurant. I would kindly term this "hangover food", which certainly has its merits; however, as a non-drinker, it's a bit too greasy and heavy for regular consumption for me. We stopped in about 10am on a Sunday, it was surprisingly not busy. There seemed to be maybe 2 or 3 people working; when it got a little busier they were definitely having to hustle. I ordered a breakfast quesadilla with gravy and my guy got pancakes, eggs, and bacon, and we both had coffee. This surprisingly came out to about $19, I honestly expected lower prices. Portions are fairly hefty to me, so that makes up for it. My meal was fine. Nothing to go out of my way for, but we live really close! The coffee was quite awful; made us realize how sorely this side of town lacks a Starbucks. I don't consider myself a coffee snob, but it was just blah. Overall it was essentially what I expected, I guess. I'd be interested in coming back to try a burger. read more

It's an older local restaurant. There is a variety of food to choose from, with breakfast and dinner foods. The staff was nice. I got my food to go and it was still really hot when got home. It's clear that they cook to order! Prices are decent. I have only driven by it only every day for my entire life and now have finally seen what it is all about. I can say that I wasnt disappointed. So I went here a couple of years ago and to my dismay they didn't accept credit cards so I had to cancel my order before it began and I sadly drove away thinking I would likely never return. I had a hankering for greasy local food without having to leave the warm cozy comfort of my car. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got a little bit of everything. A $1 chili dog (I couldnt get a free Yelp check in dog because it was Wednesday which was where the star loss comes in), and a bacon cheeseburger. I got my son the chicken fingers and he loved them. The fries were good, the burger was phenomenal. I'm super picky with my hot dogs and it was legit. They also now accept credit cards, so score! Lots of love for this place! read more

If a local Greek diner birthed a fast(er) food joint and lived in a circa 1985 McDonalds, it would be Mr. Don's! In full disclosure I ordered items the lady didn't recommend. While it wasn't horrible, it was 3 Star. I still would come back here though. While I am sitting here eating, I feel alive, nostalgic, brought back to a time when the local guy got ahead and could compete with the big franchises out there! Mr. Don's has been around since 1952!! The menu boasts everything from Multigrain pancakes and French toast to deep fried Twinkies. Mushroom Swiss Burger, Egg Salad Sandwich and a Wet Burrito (recommended). Onion rings, curly (and regular) fries, deep fried pickles or mushrooms and tasty shakes (Vanilla suggested- strawberry is too strawberry strong for my taste) The decor is positively retro! Everything is clean and well maintained though, so that's a plus! (5 star) Live life a little- ditch Checkers, the Golden Arches and the King... Stopped in for the 99 cent chili dog special on Wednesdays and will certainly come back again! Total dive atmosphere, with vintage decor and throwback menu of comfort foods. Great value - service was slow, but they were slammed slinging chili dogs (people ordering 15-20 at a time!), so I'll give them grace. read more

I had a great memory snacking on hot dogs here at Mr. Don's with my grandmother. As a kid, I loved the hot dogs. When her passing brought me back this past month, I had a strong craving for a Mr. Don hot dog again. Maybe it was the spirit of my grandmother, maybe it was a pregnancy craving, but I made my way in. The place is very divey, but is clean. The menu is simple, but the food is good. We got a couple of dogs, a couple of milkshakes, fries, and the soup of the day. The hot dog was just as good as I remembered- soft bun, steamed most likely, and a soft tender dog. If you want this type of food at least go down the road to Ritzee's. $3.50 for 6 chewy, yes, chewy like a sneaker, onion rings. One of the best fast food places in Battle Creek, best French Fries for sure and great Olive Burgers! I don't know what kinda oil they use to cook there Fries but it is Fire! Always perfect crispy fries I'd say they even beat Ritzee's Fries. And sorry but the guy talking about Ritzee's must not know good food, I know people that work there and for one thing they soak there burgers in water overnight (Talk about nasty!) And there chicken strip's are cheap strips bought from some place like GFS I believe and full of fat chunks, there drinks have about double the sugar as a bottle of soda sure to get you started on your diabetic journey! Only good thing out of that place is there fries but I need more food than fries when I eat so I go here. read more

Mr Dons has a really good breakfast, and great chili dogs. Like most Restaurants you have to know what to order. Try the biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast you won't leave hungry. Many of the local retired folks meet here for breakfast, as well as families, lots of repeat business because the prices are good. read more

We've been told sorry shake machine already taken down for the night. And one time at drive thru was asked to wait a min before ordering then came back on several mins later to say sorry were closed-of course they were open when we arrived but wouldn't take order. Burgers were very small. Food tasted okay but overpriced and left hungry. Fried jalapeno on my burger was red and obviously not a jalapeno.

When I go to a new (to me) place I usually order a regular ol' cheeseburger. I got a single at around $2.50 and it was spectacular. What got me was the burger was NOT dry, and the bun stayed crunchy through out my finishing it. Very good. Make sure to order it plain, otherwise it will be drenched in ketchup, mustard, tons of pickles and raw onion. Don't let the dining room scare you off, its really old and outdated. read more

I placed my order tried to pay with my card and, "we are cash only but there is an atm in the back that charges 3 dollors" they didn't have any signs posted on doors. I mean come on its 2015 who doesn't have a card reader? You can get em for a smart phone for 20 bucks + 2 %. The only business's that have a no cash policy and an atm in there place of business is, someone that is trying to avoid taxes. Excellent food period. Huge variety of low cost eats. Regular staples like burgers, dogs, and fries, but lots of twists if you want to venture out to their creative side. Fried Pop tarts, breakfast sandwiches with everything under the sun in them, burgers with mozzarella sticks on top, tasty chili cheese fries.
