Great personal trainer, one of the best in San Diego. He is patient, understanding and supportive and will work with you on YOUR LEVEL unlike many trainers that give you an impossible workout that you end up giving up one. I was searching for a while for personal trainers and gyms in San Diego an tried a few others before coming to Areyo AKA Mr. Discipline. My experience with other personal trainers was not very positive. I tried personal trainers specializing in diet but they didn't have much to offer in terms of exercise, gym and weight lifting expertise. I tried personal trainers that specialized in weights (strength and conditioning) but I felt that the focus was too heavy on lifting on not enough on plyometrics, cardio and conditioning. I also found some personal trainers that offered bootcamp type classes and those were alright but the personal component was missing. I did enjoy my experience with the personal trainers at Barry's Boot Camp because they offered everything under one roof. Now I work out with Areyo and we encompass everything I loved about those workouts with the improved focus of one on one. His combination of expertise in diet, sports, exercise and physiology provided me everything I needed with the convenience and cost-savings of only having to deal with one person.
Additionally, he really cares about the results that you get and more importantly cares about helping you maintain them (even when there is no money to be made for him). He often sends reminder texts and emails even when Im not working with him to check-in and see how my diet and exercise routine is going and provide insight, support and feedback. If you're looking for the perfect personal trainer and you're in San Diego give this guy a shot and compare the experience with other trainers, you'll definitely notice he's a step above in knowledge, skills, expertise and attitude.
Areyo has also been training me on this thing called the Bulgarian bag. Wow! It's torture but the muscles that these exercises train and the results (and soreness) you get from these workouts are second to none. There is a reason that olympic wrestlers incorporate Bulgarian bag training into their exercise routines: it works! For the advanced athlete or someone just looking to lose weight and gain muscle rapidly, if you can handle the intensity of Bulgarian bag workouts, definitely give it a shot, you'll build strength in parts of your body where you never had it before and it enhances overall fitness levels a lot. If I can make time for it, I want to incorporate Bulgarian bag training into my weekly routine. I wish they had classes like this at my gym but it's highly specialized and apparently Areyo is one of the only certified Bulgarian bag trainers in California.
Update 06/19/2014:
I recently worked out with Areyo and did a new weight training routine. I'm used to lifting heavy weights with low reps but this involved moderate weights with lots of reps (5 sets for each exercise) and although it was challenging, the results were tremendous. My flabby chest was sore for days and firmed up nearly immediately (from one workout and I've been working out with personal trainers off and on for 15+ years). I like working out with Areyo over other trainers because he is always learning and always applying what he's learning to his workout sessions. Every week it's something new and my muscles never know what to expect - my body is always "on its feet." These more intense workouts are great because you can get more done in less time and the results are much more noticeable than regular, run of the mill weight lifting routines. I love and hate this personal trainer, hate him during the workout but love him after! read more
