A place where you can just shoot pool for hours, eat above average bar food, and chill. When we lived in El Paso, Clicks Billiards was that place. We weren't sure we'd ever find a place like that again after moving. Then....we found Maxamillians Billiards. And if first impressions mean anything, I believe we've just discovered our new favorite watering hole. One thing I did not expect a pool hall to serve was brick oven pizza. Right off the bat, that's a bonus star in my book! Oh, for those wondering, the pizza was excellent, btw! A thin crust perfectly toasted accompanied by a slightly sweet (but not too sweet) sauce which compliments the cheese brilliantly! Sharing some properties of traditional NY style pizza, I'd certainly give this one a 10 out of 10. The buffalo wings weren't too shabby either. Tangy sauce with just enough kick to be not too spicy. I couldn't find a single thing wrong with these ones; 10 out of 10, would recommend. Now then....when it comes to service, it's surprisingly good. For the most part. We *did* have a slight hiccup in the beginning when I ordered a Cab and the lady brings back what appears to be a Chardonnay. How in the hell you confuse Cabernet for Chardonnay, I'll never know. But I don't hold it against her entirely. Because, believe it or not, this isn't the first place to have done that to me. It's just that I'll never, EVER understand how anyone confuses the two. And I definitely spoke loud enough for her to hear me. Other than that though, service was great. I do wish she had came by a little more often so that I could reorder drinks. But to be honest, it seems as though the servers here are slightly overwhelmed. See, I believe there were maybe 3 attendants for the entire series of pool tables running that evening. You also have to keep in mind this place has a full bar to boot. As in...one you'd expect to see at a regular restaurant. In other words, these servers definitely have their work cut out for them. So naturally, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and exuded a zen-like patience. Plus, she was wicked sweet. So, we gave her a generous tip. Speaking of which, there's also an onsite ATM in the front by the entrance for anyone in need of cash. And a lotto machine to boot. How New England of them. XD For those wondering, this pool hall does have a private parking lot. I know that can be a concern for some when visiting Mass establishments. Though that tends to mostly depend on the city you're visiting. I made the mistake of stopping in on a Sunday afternoon. Bartender let me know I could play until 4:00 and after that APA League started and they needed the tables. At 3:45 I got shoved onto the table from behind by a league player hard enough to send the balls on the table forward. No sorry just turned his back to me after he did it. I let it go and later mentioned it to the young lady tending the bar. She responded that she would "Punch him in the face for me" - OK not really what I was looking for... I'll still come by but forget joining a league here or coming in the afternoon of a league night....

Mediocre french onion soup. Average fries and tacos, big portions. Mediocre pizza. Good community vibe, though empties out late. BUT for me, a non-drinker? On visit #2, I noticed soda + 3 refills was $10, $2.50 each refill. Seemed excessive, complicated refills (having to formally consent to more, no top off), doesn't favor designated drivers. Bartender #2 shrugged and said some people order only a soda all day, as if that explains it. Except I usually order an entree or tip generously if only getting a soda, so I am not they. Maybe make a "free refills with entree" or "free refills for designated driver" rule, but not an "others abuse this, so we overcharge you" rule. Or expect I'll take it personally. I'd been trying to decide if I should be a regular. Bartender #2 expended zero energy in trying to convince me I was wrong to think I shouldn't come back. She made it super clear she thought that it just fine if I wasn't back. I'd been nothing but kind and polite, other than noting at the end that the policy unfair. No "I'll talk to management" or "yeah, that's unfair" from her. She owned that policy like it was her idea and a good one.

The tables seem to undergo re-furbishing, there's a flat screen, a jukebox, the food is quality and the bar/bartender is easily accessible. Definitely a surprise to the regular clientele. Look for the roadside sign into their large parking lot. The building is set way back. Signs every where instruct patrons. A large over head sign lets you know to "order here." No waitress service. Belly up to the bar and place food and drink orders with the bartender. A sign at the bar instructs "order, pay, move outta the way!" I just love this. Signs on the tables instruct "Do not drag tables". however, you can pick them up and move them. Just don't drag them. For our crowd, we did have to move a couple tables and chairs. There is a jukebox on one wall and I must say the clientele have excellent musical taste. This is absolutely my kind of bar.
