I can't recommend Emerald Jewelers highly enough! I would give six stars if I could…read more I have a ring which was given to me years ago by a very dear relative who has since passed away. In the past a prong had broken and been repaired by another jeweler, but recently the ring broke again and needed repair. I didn't want to return to the previous place so I looked far and wide for a reputable jewelry repair person. Because the ring is over 100 years old and the setting is complicated, I wasn't sure that it could be repaired. I kept it in a box and was sad that I couldn't wear it. After consulting lots of recommendations and reviews, one jeweler really stood out in terms of customer happiness: Emerald Jewelers in Salem, in Tuscan Village. I brought my ring in last week and was greeted by very kind staff who made me feel really comfortable. Charly the owner is clearly an expert at what he does: he gave his honest assessment and several repair open options and offered several price points. He also noted that the ring was a half size too small and my wedding ring was a half size too large, and ordered to size and refinish both. I went with the more extensive repair and I'm extremely happy that I did. The band was replaced and stones reset in the intricate settings which were rebuilt The rings are white gold and they were also refinished with rhodium plating. All of this took many hours of work, but my rings were ready in less than a week. I was astonished when I picked them up: they retained the same antique style and design but they looked brand new! I'm sure my ring has not looked so beautiful in 100 years. The band is much thicker and wider, and both rings fit perfectly and look amazing together now that they're the correct sizes. I can't believe this is the same ring! I noticed that the store had many beautiful items for sale as well, and that Charly took the time to really talk to every customer who came in: several seemed like repeat customers and I can certainly understand why. I highly recommend Emerald Jewelers. If you have any jewelry sitting in a box needing repair, bring it in, you'll be happy you did!

Royal Jewelers is a family run and operated luxury business since 1948. I had the immense pleasure…read moreto have visited their store in Andover and had a wonderful experience. During this unprecedented time of COVID-19, they were able to craft an environment that is both comfortable and personal. Associates wear face shields and masks, following CDC protocols for proper handling and sanitation. The associate I worked with was Dan. He was extremely helpful with my inquiry on timepieces. Attentive, patient, and knowledgeable, I was even more impressed that he took the time to help me on his day off ( since the associates are not commission based) to help me find/purchase a Grand Seiko. Royal Jewelers is the only authorized dealer of Grand Seiko watches( my personal favorite timepiece) in MA. I have had multiple experiences both online and in person at authorized dealers of Grand Seiko in NYC, Texas and Florida but never had the as thorough enjoyable of an experience as I had with Dan at Royal Jewelers. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I also had a brief opportunity to speak with one of the owners of the shop. He was friendly and pleasant to speak with. I was impressed with the care he has for his business. It is rare these days to find people who truly love what they do and at Royal Jewelers, you could tell that they care about the customer and the services they provide. I've purchased several timepieces before ( mainly Rolex and Omega) and Royal Jewelers is without a doubt the best luxury watch shopping experience I have had. If you are in the market for luxury watches, ask for Dan and he'll hook you up. You should visit Royal Jewelers.

Absolutely avoid this business. I cannot caution you strongly enough. Absolute incompetence verging…read moreon malpractice. They're just there to push metal and rocks with no genuine concern for the customer. My wife went to Royal Jewelers with her engagement ring and the ring marking the birth of our daughter. She's had them for 27 and 24 years, and she left with both rings destroyed and needing to be rebuilt from scratch. The rings were joined together and she wore them often, but this past time she wasn't able to easily remove them. She wanted them resized and expected they would remove them by cutting them, easing them off and then add a small section to make them larger. Instead, after they were cut, their senior "expert jeweler" went after them with two pairs of pliers like he was using the "Jaws of Life" and tore open a 1/2-inch gap in the ring putting sharp bends and scratches all around the ring, including hard bends in the settings and basically destroying the entire ring set. Now she's home in tears with her ring, absolutely ruined by this yahoo, and needing it to be rebuilt from scratch. To make their failure even more painful for us, the ring was originally made by a good friend of ours who has since passed away. He was an actual professional jeweler that I'm certain could have easily have managed this task. When I called to speak with this jeweler, I got a complete song and dance of "Well I had to be careful not to cut her finger with the sharp edges" and "I told her some of the set stones may come a little loose". Seriously? He should have told her "I'm going to open up your ring like a pinata and you will never wear it again." And the nonchalant attitude of not my problem "well these things can happen" I got from him on the phone was beyond the pale. He could have easily slipped a thin strip of stainless steel under the cut to protect her and eased the ring off. Or, he could have cut the ring on both the left and right side so it would come off in two pieces. This is a simple job that just needs some care and can be done in many ways. Royal could have done better with bolt cutters! So, I would say to any potential customer, Royal Jewelers may be suitable for retailing pre-manufactured items or working on costume jewelry, but for anything with sentimental or monetary value just stay away. And to Royal Jewelers, I just say this, if you cannot do a job right, then just say so and don't take the job.
