My son's Maine Coon was adopted in November and had surgery in January. He was in desperate need of grooming especially with the amount of mats he had. Gil came over on time and obviously shows he loves cats. Roy , the Maine coon, was washed and groomed properly and did have to be trimmed to a lion cut to cut out the mats but his beautiful mane was left untouched. This is the first time I had to have a cat groomed as I only owned short haired cats and sphynx's but from what I see Roy was groomed to perfection ! read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Mr. Cat! They have been grooming my two cats since 2022, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional every single time. They are great with communication and are transparent about their pricing policies / estimates. The groomer, Nill, is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable about feline grooming, but he's also incredibly gentle and patient with my boys. You can really tell how much he cares about his work. read more

Mr. Cat is the best groomer for our two Persian cats, Pearl and Ruby. They are both long-haired cats that need grooming and we see Mr. Cat every 8-10 weeks for grooming including shaving, baths, combing, the works! It's incredible service and our groomer Nil is so kind and friendly. He comes to our house and takes such wonderful care of our girls! I had a booking appointment today with this groomer. I have a very elderly cat with arthritis who is medicated for severe anxiety with regular klonopin. For this reason, we are extremely careful about having her groomed in home at this point in her life. She has been groomed several times in the six years we have had her. I exchanged emails with mr. cat regarding what I was looking for which was to have my cat dematted, and likely shaved. I requested no water and that I would potentially want her nails and ears cleaned, but that was not the main goal. He agreed. Upon receiving the booking agreement and legal release, I noted that the groomers would not be liable for any injury to the animal, and that I was not allowed to record or be in eyesight of the grooming. This is in and of itself self made me extremely uncomfortable, but as they have been in the business for 25 years, I moved forward. When the groomer arrived, I had set him up in the bathroom as opposed to the kitchen as requested per the email, because we simply did not have the space in the kitchen, and my cat was likely to crawl onto the gas stove if she tried to move away from him in the space he initially requested. Nevertheless, we did what he asked and started to move things around in the kitchen. At this time he then requested that I re-sign the agreement then asked me what services I required, and then abrasively spoke to me about the fact that I could not receive what we had initially discussed in the emails. In fact, he said he never shaves cats, so at this point I am wondering why this man is in my home at all. He became short, condescending and angry, and told me that my stress was the issue, when I simply expressed I was not comfortable with the abrasiveness of our current exchange. I was concerned that if we couldn't professionally speak about the services, there was no way I could move forward with the appointment. Respectfully, I told him, "the way you are interacting with me is stressing me out and I don't feel comfortable with you in my space" and asked him to leave. I thanked him for his time and apologized for wasting it. He then called me abusive approximately 10 times while screaming in my lobby, then outside my window and once more from his car door as he left. The behavior was so odd that I took a picture of his license plate in case he came back to shout outside my house again. This man has quite a temper and is not open to discussion or negotiation of any kind. Furthermore, he didn't recall anything we had discussed and effectively told me that regardless of what I requested - for the safety and health of my cat - I would get whatever he felt was right. I respect people's mastery of their work, the embarrassment and anger I caused by canceling, and the need to tell stupid customers that you know better. I was in the service industry for years. BUT there are professional ways of doing things and there are ways that get you thrown out of someone's house. I felt uncomfortable with him in my space, and I certainly would not allow him to be alone with my animal for any time. read more

Mr. Cat is so knowledgeable about grooming long hairs. He educated me on his process and about cats in general. If he can work in my tiny kitchen he can work in any kitchen if any size. My drama queen, Squash has seen him twice now and we referred him to another Persian cat friend we have. We love the services. It's been a couple months since Squash's last appointment because whatever Mr. Cat has done as allowed her to go matted fur free! That's amazing read more

Mr.Cat is very professional and helpful. He is very knowledgeable in cats and he gives the best suggestion for styles. My cat has really thick coat and has many nots. All the groomers I had before were only able to do the lion cut. For the longest time I thought lion cut was the only solution for longhair cats with matted hair. That's why I appreciate Mr. Cat's service. He was able to completely remove the mats from the hair and thin the hair out. My cat's coat looked so much healthier and lighter. I'm glad I decided to choose Mr.Cat and I will continue using their service! read more

Unfortunately I can't comment much because they wouldn't give an accurate quote until after they provide the service. They send you an estimate that ranges from $100 to $250. However, the problem is that they won't commit to a final number until after they finish their job, which is odd. I'm big on budgeting (especially in NY), so this type of response seems unprofessional. Regardless, they seem to be good if you don't mind paying whatever they see fit. Also, I felt they were a little condescending in our last communication. read more

Mr Cat did an incredible job. Our cat (though very sweet otherwise) does NOT like people trying to brush or clean him, and Mr Cat was still able to do an incredible job getting him all cleaned up and trimmed. Extremely professional and knowledgeable. Will be using this service again! read more

Mr Cat is a truly wonderful groomer. My cat Josie had a build up of matted fur that we weren't prepared to tackle ourselves. We scheduled for grooming with Mr Cat and despite the fiestiness of our cat he was able to keep her calm, remove ALL clumps from her fur, trim her nails, and give her a stylish lion haircut. Throughout the whole process he was extremely processional and handled Josie very well. He is the BEST groomer in the city hands down. I definitely would recommend him for all cat owners. He is purrrrfect. Thanks again Mr Cat! :) read more

Nil from Mr.Cat was amazing with my 4 year old male cat, Heisenberg. He is a very big boy with long fur that gets easily matted. Nil came to groom him and was so incredibly caring and professional, even though Heisenberg clearly wasn't in the mood to be groomed today. Nil was very gentle and took his time to make sure that Heisenberg was safe and comfortable through the process. I couldn't have asked for a more positive outcome. Will absolutely be using again. Thank you so much! read more

Neil did a great lion cut on my very matted Persian cat. Overall we had a good experience!

I had a wonderful experience with Mr. Cat. The groomer was prompt, friendly, sweet, and handled my rather difficult and willful cat calmly and expertly. It is very apparent he knows what he's doing and my Siberian forest cat looks wonderful! My cat got shaved on the belly, armpits and leg pits, and on the butt -- all the places my cat won't let me brush/comb, so he easily gets tangles/mats there. I found the groomer to be very kind, professional, organized, experienced, and well prepared. read more

We used Mr. Cat and the experience was fantastic! Our groomer was extremely easy to work with. He arrived on time at our apartment and was well prepared for the grooming session. He gave us advance warning regarding what he needed to help make the session run smoothly. Our cat has not been bathed or groomed before because he is still young, so he was not the most willing of customers but our groomer handled him like a pro. Our groomer was very gentle and the end results were fantastic. Our cat sparkled! He also gave us some great tips on general cat maintenance, etc. We already scheduled another appointment with him. Definitely recommend. read more

I have a cat that was in very poor shape, who is overweight and was badly matted. I had never used a service like this before. Nelsen came to the door with such a positive attitude, fully prepared with everything he needed. He had such patience and professionalism, as well as being able to explain everything he was doing as he worked. My cat looks and feels great. His price for the amount of time he put in, the craftsmanlike care he took, his efficiency and enthusiasm was very very reasonable. I would recommend him highly. I am an RN by profession and can be critical of poor sanitary techniques, I only have the highest praise for him and this service. LR read more
