    Red velvet cheesecake

The red velvet cheesecake has a properly tangy red velvet cake. I liked the cream cheese icing more than the cheesecake itself, which was good but I was just in more of a cakey mood than a cheesecakey one. The texture of the cake is also great. Moist with a light chew. The cardamom bun is nothing special--the place is called Mr Cake for a reason!

Delicious!!!! I wish my stomach was as big as my eyes. You must try their famous red velvet crossaint! The place is pretty big and has ample seating, if it's not too busy. It was moderately busy when we arrived on a Monday afternoon. They have a pretty good selection of pastries and cakes and coffee. It's also neat you can see inside the kitchen where all the magic happens! I'd definitely go back next time I'm in town.

Although one does occasionally see a touch of America in Swedish culture it is fairly safe to say that Fika throughout Stockholm stick fairly close to tradition, a lone exception found at Rådmansgatan 12 where Mr. Cake has seen guests line up seven days a week since late 2017 for sweets and savories cut from a different fabric and spanning in influence from Grandma's cookbook to the sort of things offered at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in California. Operated out of an old Architectural College by two regionally famous Bakers, Roy Fares and Mattias Ljungberg of nearby Tössebageriet converting a forgotten space into one where families and friends are invited to sit outdoors amongst sculpture or inside where Pop-Culture runs amok, it is immediately upon entry from an elevated vantage that eyes are treated to a lengthy counter of options, the combination of refrigerator cases and racks further complimented by a menu of choices from the fully-visible kitchen. Commanding a slight premium compared to other Bageris and Konditoris in town, the operational costs no doubt higher at Mr. Cake than a space like Bakery & Spice where choices are limited and seating nonexistent, it was after watching several locals make selections while continuously being tempted that an order of eight items was crafted, each carefully placed on plates or trays with boxes and bags alongside for leftovers. Still rooted in technique despite coloring outside the lines, the city's fluffiest Solbulle but one standout with equally creamy Custard also packing the center of an upright Brioche Donut additionally featuring sugar-poached Rhubarb, the is no doubt that Mr. Cake's Red Velvet Croissant remains the store's best seller some 9-months after its debut, the color merely a photogenic hook as flaky layers devoid of Cocoa surround a core of tangy Cream Cheese Frosting. By no means abandoning the classics in favor of novelty, Chef Ljungberg's Tosca recipe from Tössebageriet simply piled higher here while Coconut--heavy Chokladboll are cut square like a Brownie under the name Choklad Ruta, it is amidst golden spirals here that one of Stockholm's best Cardamom Rolls is available, a distinct butteriness penetrating deeply and creating a flavor nearly as savory as it is sweet. Rounding out the collection with Quick Breads and Cake Slices, everything from seasonal Berries to a particularly decorative Princess available in early Summer, it was unfortunate that a Salted Caramel wedge came across sugary and one-dimensional despite what appeared to be several layers, the Carrot Loaf peeled from cardboard faring far better thanks to piped Cream Cheese Frosting and good density loaded with aromatic Spices.

This place would of gotten 5 stars but I feel like Swedes the really overrate this place . I was really packed , the sitting area was very cramped and not comfortable at all . The pastries that I got made up for that , I loved the fact that the owner was there working himself .

Two famous pastry chefs, Roy Fares and Mattias Ljungberg, decided to put their inspirational heads together and open MR Cake in Stockholm at A House - the old architect college, also quite often referred to as the ugliest building in Stockholm. Though there's nothing ugly about Mr Cake, on the contrary it's quite lush, beautiful and full of goodies! The interior is modern, dark, a bit rustic and bustling with customers and pastry chefs working in the semi-open kitchen area. Francly, it was a joy just walking in! Crowded but me and my friend managed to snag a small table in the back and then headed to more or less mentally drooling over all the goodies available. All kinds of buns, donuts, cupcakes, cakes, brownies; whatever kind of sweet tooth you have - something here will find your fancy. I settled for a dark chocolate brownie with burnt meringue on top together with a cup of cappucino, while my colleague had a bun (exactly which kind I have unfortunately forgotten, but it was apparently "heavenly"). My brownie was smooth and lush without that compact density that brownies so easily can be. The burnt meringue was a nice contrast to the chocolate, providing a bit of relief from the sweetness. In all, I would have preferred some kind of tart fruit/berries to ease off the sweetness a bit as I generally find things that are very sugary needs a contrast to bring it back and make it "sing" so to speak. Just a bit one dimensional to be honest. The cappuccino definitely helped in providing a bit of relief from the sugar. But don't let this discourage you in any way or form. They have so much available, as well as salads, yoghurts with granola and much much more. I'm most definitely a fan and I'm absolutely going back to try more things! Also, the staff is really friendly and helpful and this place will without a doubt be a huge success if they maintain this kind of quality that I experienced today. Go there!

Sometimes you just need somewhere to catch your breath, catch up, and plan for the rest of the day. Chokladkoppen did that for me. I had the Hot Chocolate and a cinnamon bun, and leisurely sat at my table for at least 30 minutes. There was never pressure to move on, which is so common, at least in the US ("Are you finished working on that? Can I bring you something else? Can I bring you a box?). The hot chocolate was dark, very much tasted like quality chocolate, and like a warm massage. I also ate one of their cinnamon buns, which are very popular in Stockholm. It also hit the spot. The cost of the hot chocolate was $6 USD and the cinnamon bun was a few cents less. The view from the table and people watching alone was worth the total $12 cost, but so was the hot chocolate and cinnamon bun.

As I am a tourist, I got that crazy milkshake with a cinnamon bun on top of it just for good measure of course. The cinnamon buns in Sweden are obviously exceptional as they originated from there- crunchy on the outside and warm, melted, soft cinnamon goodness on the inside. The waffles are delicious as well, regardless of which waffle you get. All in all, this is a great place to go to if you're visiting Stockholm!

I'm not sure what Swedish waffles and 1950s diners have in common, but this place makes it work for sure. We came in on a Sunday morning, and were able to get seated right away. My cousin and I both had the raspberry waffle with whipped cream (75 sek, approx $8USD.). The waffle was perfectly crispy and the jam was delicious, but it wasn't a particularly filling for the price, really just a treat. They had fancier offerings as well, for a bit more money, as well as savory combinations. I overheard from a neighboring table that you can order a waffle with both whipped cream and ice cream. Where was this information when I was ordering? Oh well, next time. I would visit Älskade Traditioner again, but perhaps only for dessert. Alternatively I may try one of their savory options for a full meal.

The pain au chocolat was also excellent: crisp layers with just the right amount of dark chocolate. Coffee was smooth and rich, and refills on brewed coffee are free. The café has a relaxed vibe, and even though it was busy, the service was quick and friendly. Prices are a bit high, but worth it for the quality. Although the passageway where the interior seating is situated seemed awkward it actually worked out well. Service, despite a crowd, was fairly quick, I would rate the coffee an A or 9/10 on the scale of strength, low acidity/smoothness. It is espresso based and made to exact order. There are serval options for milk (whole, oat, 1/2 and 1/2, etc). The major complaint would be that there is no easy place to throw away your rubbish, nor is there a place that is clearly evident to bust your dishes, which is much needed given that this is a super busy place.. The staff is too busy to bus tables regularly, which backs up the availability of seating . This is the major reason for a one star deduction.. TIP: You can buy beans or ground coffee for home brewing.
