So... if I said how my first taste of binatog actually came from a mall stand, how much would that make me sound like a sheltered city kid? Because it totally is. I feel a little dumb admitting it, but there you are. I have to admit, I was rather curious since the only concept I had of corn-in-a-cup was from loose corn kernels served with cheese powder and a pat of margarine on the side. Little did I know white corn had a completely different and equally wonderful application.
White corn is bland, I'll give you that. Eat it alone and it has the taste and consistency of unseasoned gruel with a mild cornish aftertaste. However, add some shaved coconut, butter, sugar and (a must have for me) powdered milk and you have yourself a really good, really filling snack. And for under 50php too! I have no idea how it tastes like off the streets but I'm more than willing to try if the commericalized, readily available version is this tasty. read more
