Ah, cheap thrills, what would life be without you?
I first tasted toasted siopao in the province, because there's a bakery there that sells really delicious ones. Whenever we would go on a vacation there, my mother makes sure we stop by that bakery. So when we saw a 'Toasted Siopao For Sale' sign in our city, my mom was so ecstatic. But we were disappointed with the first couple of stores we tried because their toasted siopaos were either too airy, and or had too much flour.
I tried to convince my mom to stop buying toasted siopao because she's already failed several times, but she asked me to try Daddy's Toasted Siopao and decide if it's still not good enough for me. So I did, and well, it was good.
The breading leans more on burger buns than siopao, but the inside has the whole asado filling on point. Delicious! I love that they added boiled egg to it. When they started out they only had one flavor, but now they have three varieties: pork asado, chicken asado and pepper beef asado. The best thing about them is that they're super cheap! Well, they raised their price from 8 pesos to 9 pesos a piece, but still, how can you complain? read more
