Strange company. Had an appointment set up for over a month. Tries to change the appointment time the day before without asking and I try to move some things around to get their new time to work. We used this service twice now, once for when our daughter was 6-months and starting to be more curious and just now, at 2-years old, since we moved next door. Communicating with the team was so easy and the quote for everything was straight and to the point. I last used Daryl and his company in 2010 and they are still wonderful! When Daryl came out I told him that it had been 30 years since I first used him to baby proof. How time flies! Outstanding service and commitment to excellence, as always. When we had the 1994 quake, my neighbors had damage inside their homes from falling objects. Daryl had come out and proofed the house before the quake and everything stayed in its place....no damage at all. In fact, my insurance company gave me a discount based on Daryl's preventative work. I cannot understand how anyone could give him a bad review. Daryl is so conscientious and stands behind his work and products, that I can't imagine that there would ever be an issue. Daryl and Chad are the best! Daryl came out to Westwood and gave a very reasonable quote to babyproof our open floor plan home and Chad was there the next day to install everything. We had three gates installed beautifully that can be removed easily when not wanted and all bathroom and kitchen cabinets baby proofed. We also had some earthquake safety work done. Wow is all I can say! Daryl, the owner came to my home and went through all the different areas of my home. He pointed out tips that I could easily fix and gave me a great estimate. On the day of the installation the installer came out to get started. They were courteous, thoughtful professional and polite. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were satified and happy with all their work. They took the time to make sure both myself and my housekeeper knew how to use all the products. To end the already great experience Daryl reinstalled my car seat to bring it up to safety standards. Fantastic service, great prices and quality products. We reached out to Daryl after several unsuccessful attempts to gate the top of our very wide staircase, among other DIY baby proofing fails--and he came through in a big way. He was thorough, honest and not at all a salesman trying to upsell me on anything. He even offered to install some of the baby proofing mechanisms we had already purchased (more on that later). We went with him for all recommendations including baby proofing all cabinets and drawers below counter height, a large baby gate at the top of the stairs, several door locks, toilet locks, cable channels for wires from the TV, outlet covers, fireplace locks, you name it! I could not be happier. I feel completely comfortable now letting my toddler run around upstairs, and everything works perfectly. On the day of install everything went smoothly, Daryl came by to check in and make sure we were all on the same page. Installer was professional and did a great job. The only minor thing is that the hardware we had purchased didn't actually get used so we ended up buying the new stuff through Daryl, but the actual price was still lower than quoted and I have no complaints at all. They did a great job and I would highly recommend them. Also, the customer service is fantastic. Jadie is awesome and she was super polite, courteous and even sent us a toilet lock when we thought we had been overcharged for one (it was put into our closet and not installed so we were not overcharged). We had Mr Baby Proofer come to our home to redo baby-proofing done by another "professional" baby proofer, who had done a terrible job. I wish we'd hired Daryl and Chad our first time around. The pricing was more reasonable and transparent and the work was far superior. Plus, when Chad was here he repaired a bathroom door for us that our handyman had told me was unfixable! After spending an insane amount of money for his services and products, our house was fully baby proofed. But, within a month's time, one by one, each of the plastic pieces he installed on the doors and cabinets started to snap off. I feel like he did do a solid job and finding places that needed to be tended to. But, there's not much point if the tools he installs don't work. The worst part about the experience was the after math. Without telling us he was going to do it, he drilled a quarter size hole in our living room wall to put up a baby gate. I wouldn't have been so upset if I was asked prior to him doing this. But, instead, I had to find it when our child was old enough to have the baby gates taken down. He had drilled a huge hole, and then bolted an anchor behind the dry wall. Wouldn't you think you'd ask someone first before drilling a huge hole into their wall? Seems like common sense. When I called him and asked him to repair the hole for us, he laughed and said "absolutely not". read more

Mr baby proofer has no personality I worked for him and witness some very poor work man ship. Then he would always criticize how bad everyone else's work come out. Has no customer service skills with his customers after the job is done. Example a tall book case was already strapped to the wall properly with 2 straps. He took it upon him self to remove them and put on his stapes and charge the Customer for them when they did not need them. Fast talker he is said they were better than the ones previously installed. That is only one of many example of his work. After talking with a few people that know him and worked for him also agreed with the fact that he has no idea on how to communicate with his employers. That is why he has problems keeping guys working for him. Simi Valley is a small town. And Mr baby proofer is in his own world. I am not enjoying writing this review but I always give people the respect and honesty they deserve. Mr baby proofer needs to realize that someday his actions will catch up with him. read more

Thanks Daryl. As you said you would, you returned our call, came out the next morning, and made repairs -- at no charge. We weren't looking for freebies, just responsiveness, but we appreciate you taking care of things very timely. As far as the gate goes, it seems we had a defective gate since three of the actual "welded" vertical bars (not just the zip ties) simply tore off the frame of the gate. This is not an install issue on your part, but simply a product defect issue, but a potentially serious once since the bars that ripped off are dangerous themselves (as well as the hole in the gate at the top of the stairs). Maybe you could send back the gate to the manufacturer so they can address the quality issues. Anyway, thanks again for living up to your word yesterday. read more

Their approach was so quantity versus quality that they forgot to baby proof a bunch of things in my home, which they had formerly included in the estimate. I then had to wait a month to get them to come back. In addition, some of the latches they used were of extremely poor quality and broke right away. They also permanently attached furniture to the wall without allowing me to situate it properly first. And all of this was extremely expensive. read more

SHOP AROUND FIRST! Was very unhappy with this service. First the man comes to your house and does a survey of all his suggestions for baby proofing and gives you an estimate. Then when he came back to do the job - I was told that he couldn't secure heavy mirrors "because they didn't have the kind of wiring he needs" that maybe "I should get some wax" and do it myself?? What is the point of hiring a "baby proofing expert" and being told to do it myself? He didn't even take the time when he was doing the first survey to look on back of mirrors and see that he didn't have the supply he would need to do job? Then he couldn't secure any of the bottom drawers in my kitchen because they "wouldn't fit" his ONE kind of latch. This is the expert who has been in business for 25 years and only has 1 kind of latch or too bad they can't be babyproofed?? so now I ended up spending $1400 and my house is not even close to being baby proofed. Plus they arrived an hour and a half late. They did not clean up wood dust piles from where they drilled - even in my baby's room! and when I called to complain - they listened but never called back with any apologies or further suggestions.
