I had been stalking their Instagram for a long time and had already partaken in one of their donuts (the incredible All Day Donuts) and last night, on a drizzly Thursday, I finally decided to stuff my face with one of their shiny burgers. It's a cute and cosy little place, with only a few tables and chairs. It is certainly not a pumping venue by any means, despite the rap music blaring and the hipster staff. We ordered the classic cheeseburger with fries and two margaritas, because why not? The margaritas are the only cocktail on the menu, with wines by Noisy Ritual and a small selection of local craft beers. The burger was perfection. Filled to the brim with pickles, drippy yellow cheese and a fresh-made patty. The bun was made in-house and had a glossy finish but was not too sweet. Served in a classic red american-style basket. If you're hunting for some of Melbourne's best burgers, Juanita Peaches should definitely be added to your list.

If you don't see the van first upon pulling up at the location, which you'd have to be a bit blind to miss seeing that it's a van-sized beatbox stereo, you'll see half the neighbourhood lazing around on the grass with bottles of beer and wine waiting for their burger order. The other half of the neighbourhood make up the very long queue leading up to the Beatbox van. What is everyone queueing up for, they're just burgers? Well, they're not JUST burgers. The grass-fed beef burger is the best $11 you'll ever spend on a meat burger, and likewise with the 'shroom burger for $10. There aren't any fancy fillings, just the usual cheese, tomato, cos lettuce, onion and stereo sauce - simple and perfectly balanced to showcase the fine quality and excellent flavour of the beef/portobello mushroom. The fries at $5 a serve with a range of sauces (mayo, tomato or spicy tomato relish or stereo sauce) are crispy and fresh. The only downside is the long, long, long queue and up to an hour wait for your burger, but come expecting the long wait - bring friends and drinks - and it's actually a really pleasant wait. I still give it 5 stars based solely on the quality and flavour of the burgers. Stay up-to-date with the Beatbox's whereabouts by following them on Twitter. What sets Royal Stacks apart from other local burger options is the service and the environment which lends itself well to family and friend groups eating together. Large table configurations as well as smaller ones for couples. A staff member welcomes you and helps you find a table and another will pop past during the meal to ask how everything is going.
