Greta tour! This place is huge, and there is so much history. The 2016 edition brut was great. Obviously everything is expensive here, but it was the best tour.

We opted for the tour which was excellent. You get to see were all the magic happens and get to sample 2 champagnes in the end.

We took the train out to Epernay to go to Moet and Chandon for a tour and a tasting. This definitely didn't disappoint and if you are a wine/champagne lover this has to be on your list of things to do. We got to explore their cellars and hear the history of champagne and how it is made. It is a very beautiful building with beautiful decor with a gift shop where you can buy champagnes aren't sold anywhere else. The staff is super friendly and you can tell they are passionate champagne and preserving the legacy and process of the wine. This is an easy train ride and walk from the train station once you arrive in Épernay.

Stopped in for a drink at their gorgeous bar. They had clean bathrooms available, and lots of comfortable seating in their bar. We did a tasting and had a vintage and non vintage champagne to compare. The bartender explained everything to us in English, and provided us some water as well. We did not have time to do a tour, but hope to the next time we come back!

What a great tour to take when visiting the quaint town of Epernay...! We visited on a chilly Sunday morning after taking the train from Paris and of course, had to stop at a local bakery for a croissant before the tour. We took the Grand Vintage tour (50 € each) and had a great guide, Mohammad. The tour was about 1.5 hours through their actual cellars which was neat to explore. We ended with a tasting of their 2015 vintage and rose vintage selections and added on the extra to taste it with crisp and briny caviar. They have a massive gift shop where you can purchase many varieties of their champagne (from ice to vintage to dom!). Interestingly enough, we timed it where they were offering Sunday High Tea (we spent a lot of money here that day). After purchasing the tickets, we were guided across the street to the "guest homes" and had a lovely afternoon of tea, champagne and more sweets!

    We found it!

What a way to start our Paris vacation! A little jet-lagged, yes, but the perfect antidote was our day trip to Epernay. We braved the train system - rather easy to navigate and had a scenic ride into the countryside. Once there, we made our way to Moët & Chandon. It was like being at the gates of champagne heaven. The tour was interesting and informative as we wend our way through the underground caverns where thousands of bottles of bubbly are stored. Then the moment of truth! The tasting! By this time we were all ready for a sip (or two...three...) and we eagerly lined up for our glasses. We were not disappointed. There was also a great gift shop where we could buy bottles, so buy we did! The new Moët Ice Champagne was perfect for our hot Hawaii weather so we invested in a few to bring home. Of course, all of that work made us thirsty again, so we paused for another glass of the good stuff under a patio umbrella. And then it was time to return to Paris...and to plan the next day's adventure through the City of Light!

I loved our tour at Moet & Chandon. I'll be the first to admit I'm not big on bubbly (unless served w high tea) or white wine (pretty much a hard no for me always). I'm a pretty strictly red wine only type but being in France I knew I had to experience Champagne in Champagne. I booked our cave tour about a month in advance and we had no issues whatsoever once arriving. We rode the train in from Paris and did one of the first morning tours. The caves are magically impressive dating back to 1717 and 17 miles long if my memory serves me correctly. I had read and heard that the humidity in the caves is around 90 percent. Ladies, don't worry about your hair mine survived, although I did ask my friend a few times if it was getting out of control ;) Our tour guide was so delightful and really made the tour nice, her energy was just so pleasant. This champagne is elegant and delicious! I could very well, sit here all day sipping it flute by flute. I'd say a tour at Moet & Chandon is the perfect beginning to your day on Avenue de Champagne. There's really something so peaceful and serene about walking around above 200 million bottles of champagne under your feet. Like, yea - wrap your head around that.

    The tasting at the end!

Fun and interesting tour. I'm really not a fan of tours, but found this one to be worth the time - glad I did it, and would recommend. Anyone that likes champagne and has the opportunity to visit should take the tour. Even if you have done many wineries and think they are all the same, you will probably still learn something here.

Came here on a champagne tour and it did not disappoint. After walking the tunnels and seeing the champagne being made, you're escorted to a private room to sample two different types of champagne. The on-site prices are very reasonable. I recommend saving some room in your luggage to bring champagne home!

A must when visiting France. A champagne connoisseur, this was top of places to visit. It was a 3 hour car ride into the countryside of Epernay, France, from Paris. We hired a driver. The cellars and history of Moët & Chandon are both magnificent. Like nothing I ever experienced. We learned so much. I highly recommend taking a tour when you find yourself coming to France. A once in a lifetime experience.

So happy I got to come here as part of my Champagne tour in France. Moet et Chandon and Veuve Clicquot are as good as it gets. The tour is really nice, and I believe it comes in four languages: French (obviously), English, Spanish and Japanese. The woman who gives the English tours has an extremely thick accent, but we were able to get the gist of what she was saying. When we first walked in, we split into different groups to make the group smaller and also by language of instruction. We started by watching a short movie about the history of the winery (as well as Dom Perignon). We then stood in the courtyard and were given the history of Moet and Chandon families and how they came together, as well as how Dom Perignon was joined at one point. Then the tour began. It was interesting to see the caves downstairs, which were very huge and long. There were also pretty cool art displays throughout. It was nice to see all the different barrels and go through the process of making the champagne. The best part however was the champagne tasting at the end of the tour. We tasted three different champagnes (Brut, Rose and Nectar). There were leftover glasses of champagne at the end, so I was lucky enough to get a few more sips. In the end, I ended up purchasing a limited edition bottle of Rose that came in a really pretty pink tin with a ribbon. I can't wait to pop it open on a special occasion...like when I finally get engaged. FYI: the tour I went on was over $200. There are cheaper ones but they won't take you to the nicer wineries.

We came as part of a group tour and took the tour in English. Our guide was very interesting and lively. She had a great sense of humor and lots of fun facts in addition to the basic info about process. Some information overlapped with the tour of G. H. Mumm in Reims, but there was also a lot of new information. For instance, there are 18 miles of tunnels on three levels where the champagne ages for this company alone. We also learned about Dom Perignon, which used to be associated with Moet as one company but now is a separate company. The process is very labor intensive which explains why it costs so much. The best part, of course, was the tasting. Moet is an excellent champagne and although we've had it before, we came away with a renewed appreciation and thirst for more. Unfortunately, no tasting for Dom. They have a gift shop at the end where you can buy bottles to take home. Excellent tour and highly recommended!

Located in the real champagne capital and on Épernay's main attraction Avenue de Champagne is Moët & Chandon. The l'âge gift shop is open to everyone. The cellar tour includes the history and aging if both Moët & Chandon and Dom Perignon. Our guide was wonderful. Tours are offered in both french and english. Group size is small and masks are required to adhere to COVID guidelines. Price is based on your tasting preference. I selected the Vintage tasting. I was disappointed that the Vintage wines where served in a flute. A wine producer knows that vintage wine deserves proper glassware to express the wine. The sommelier tried to find a better suited glass but was unable to find one. This is a good starting point in Épernay to see a massive producer to compare to small producers. First off my tour guide was Jerome, very knowledgable, not only did we talk about the region with him but also the culture of the area. This tour felt like you were with friends and not a commercial tour/guide. We were in a small group of 6 which allowed us to get to know the others in our van and converse especially when it came to our lunchtime. Oh yes, the van- very very clean, so fresh like a rental car and had air conditioning, but the temperature outside was so good we didn't need any air con on. I enjoyed getting to explore the area going to multiple cities around Reims, Epernay, and a couple of others I'm not quite sure how to spell the name. The Champagne Master Class was a lot of fun as well! I won't go into detail with this one so I won't spoil it. Lunch time: I have celiac disease (can't have gluten) and often find trouble with places being able to accommodate my restriction. But there was no problem here, I emailed them in advance, they also double checked the morning of again with other members of the group to for any allergies or restrictions. They let me know it would not be a problem. We had lunch in the side courtyard of a French home which made it very personal in ensuring quality. My lunch was gluten-free, with gluten-free bread and other accompaniments. The table was set in a family style lunch setting. They had a great selection of cheeses on a board with jams, and wonderful authentic French foods which I don't know the name of but my boyfriend got to try a bit of everything and he told me he really liked it. At this house there is also lovely small dog named Harry who will come around and nudge you from under the table in his attempt to get some cheese or table scraps. We had dessert and coffee after lunch and then headed to a family wine house. Again another truly authentic experience. Last but not least there was definitely at least 10 tastings I might have lost track at some point haha, but I really got a true appreciation for Champagne and how it is made. I could go on and on but in short, I highly recommend this tour it would be impressive to whoever you bring along!

October 2025: Our trip to France this year was 10 days long. We spent a few days in Paris and then…read morecame to Reims to finish our tour. While the whole trip was amazing, Merci France !, our two day tour with Alex of Sparkling Tours was my absolute highlight. Houses Sparkling Tours (ST) has cultivated true relationships with the local and family owned growers in the region. Yes, they can take you to the big names, but the small houses welcome you into their homes and show you their facilities that they use to make the excellent products. It was so sweet to see our guide, Alex, walk in and be welcomed everywhere we went. They invited him to engage with their tours and show us their spaces. It was delightful to hear about all of the generations of families that have been involved in making champagne, and how they continue their legacies. Language Our guide spoke English and made us feel so welcome. As well, all of the growers we visited helped us feel at home. It can be hard to want to speak more French but need English for understanding- everyone was kind and helpful. We never felt lost or confused. We were able to learn and respect everyone throughout the tour. If you're considering a trip like this, but you're unsure of the language barrier, don't be scared. It will be great. In fact, our guide, Alex, is an English teacher! Champagne The six houses we visited all had wonderful champagnes to share with us. In the States, we're used to some subpar bubbles: that is not the case here. It didn't matter the price of the bottle or the age of the grape, every glass was delicious. We learned among us who liked Chardonnay or Meunier more, but all three of us walked away from each glass with respect and admiration. And, the houses were regularly willing to entertain us asking about a specific type or bottle for more information. Driving Alex was a phenomenal driver. I've personally traveled through many countries with many styles of drivers. Alex was careful, attentive, and focused. I never felt unsafe, and he always knew the right route or place to park. The car was so comfortable, too! The trips never felt too long or tiresome between houses. Food ST arranged for our lunches. You can see the menu from day one in my pictures: a scrumptious lunch in Epernay. Everything was included, so it was easy to sit down and pick our options, but we were also and to purchase more wine with our lunch if we desired. Day 2, we ate in the cellar of the Julien Chopin champagne house. They had orchestrated a pairing for us where each course went with one of their champagnes. This experience was exquisite. History Alex was so informed about champagne, the geography, the techniques, the people, and all of the history that goes into making each bottle we enjoy. It never felt like "school", and I was always interested for more. I won't share all I've learned because you need to come and experience it for the first time yourself. Wow, wow! I'll never look at a bottle of champagne the same way. Cost I hope that if you're reading this review that you're considering a trip to Reims like us. I hope you're doing your research and comparing options. So I suspect that when I say this was the most cost effective option we considered, you understand that it was not "cheap" but it was also not expensive. Several other tour companies were more expensive or comparable, but a big part of the expense is how much the Big Houses charge you to visit their locations. If you add them to your tour, your costs will naturally rise. Valentin at ST suggested we do smaller, family owned houses and that saved us quite a few dollars. More importantly, though, it offered us so much value we did not expect. That value is seen in the rest of my review, above and below this category. We were guests in people's homes, not tourists. We were friends with our guide, not customers. We were exploring the tastes of champagne, not just quick sips. After our tour, the three of us agreed that we would readily pay the cost again for all that we experienced and enjoyed. Driver I've been so excited for this part: Alex, our driver and guide, was perfect. I've been taking guided tours with locals and professionals since 2009. I've never had a bad guide, but Alex is the first one whom I will truly miss. While we only spent two days together, his personality and approach were top notch. He was engaging, interesting, helpful, and considerate. We wish we could have had more time with him- we especially would have loved to share lunch with him. I've mentioned little specifics above about how he delivered an excellent tour for us, but just know that if he is the standard for how all of the ST tour team works, then you're in the best care. Alex, if you read this, know that you made a lasting impact on us! Thank you so much. -- Yes, I wrote all of this. No, AI was not involved.
