My wife and I were staying in an AirBnB rental around the corner from Mowlana, and when we wanted a late-night bite to eat (they're open until 11 on Fridays) we decided to give them a shot.
The experience was fine. We appreciated that the waitress was willing to go to the kitchen to ask questions about food allergies, and she made sure that everything we ordered was gluten free. However, the service overall was slow and a little scattered. We had to ask multiple times for water glasses and for our change at the end of the meal.
The food itself was all right. I don't know much about Persian food, so I don't have much of a basis for comparison, but I thought it tasted good. I got brave and tried a yogurt drink called doogh, which I didn't like at all (think "cheese" rather than an Indian restaurant's "mango lassi" and you'll be on the right track), but that's not their fault.
So-so service combined with food that was nice but not exciting equals three stars from me. I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid Mowlana in the future, but I'm not seeking them out again. read more
