Bought, from Mower Medic, a brand new Toro Recycler. It overheats after 20-25 minutes of use. And won't pull/start thereafter without a "major tune up" service. I've had it in for their "major tune up" service twice, after two mows. Both times, they tell me a list of things wrong with it which they've fixed, and both times they've told me, with much attitude, I'm somehow using the mower wrong. What I'm doing wrong: Mowed weeds (yes, I have a dandelion here or there); put deck too low (I guess the mower is designed with more positions that can be safely used?); put in too much oil (uh... you guys put in the oil); mowed on a hill or slope (yes, my yard has a gentle slope); mowed when the bag was too full and/or mulched (I empty the bag, duh, and, guys, it's called the "Recycler" mulching mower?). I've been mowing my lawn weekly for 23 years with three or four mowers and never had a problem like this, so whatever I'm doing "wrong" is only wrong with the mower they sold me. They finally suggested that I sell the mower as used equipment in the local market and then buy a new one. Because this one, brand new, apparently has nothing wrong with it. Except it overheats after 20 minutes of use. Instead of trying to help me out, they urge me to pass the problem to somebody else? I can go to Wal*Mart and (a) get a cheaper mower, (b) better customer service, and (c) a functional return/replace policy. Which is sad, to say the least. Especially for a place that does only one thing and cheerfully tells you they are the best at doing it. Do yourself a big favor and skip this place entirely. They are long on excuses and dismissive attitude, but short on everything else. read more

I'm not sure...one of the counter ladies apparently has x-ray vision and diagnosed my fuel leak and wanted to sell me a new $125 carb for my Subaru engine...without any real diagnosis...and then only based on what I told her what symptoms I saw last week. So I told her that I want it properly diagnosed and only when the REAL problem was found to call me with an estimate. So, 3 stars so far due to sales person guesswork. We'll see what happens next. UPDATE 9-22-2018: The service tech, Jason, found that the gas tank had rusted out (ethanol in the gas has struck again!) and caused the gas tank to leak upstream of the carburetor...which was what I was observing when I tried to start it a few weeks ago. So Jason was nice enough to help me with all the required part numbers and I picked the unit up today from the very nice lady that was working the front desk. I just paid the diagnosis fee of $50.00. So thank you Jason (and nice lady) for your help in diagnosing the issue. Since I'm pretty handy with a wrench, I'm going to see what I can repair and rebuild (first), and then replace. 4 Stars! read more

Go here when you are tired of looking in the big box stores and not getting what you want. They carry a selection of the very best brands $ can buy, and you will pay for that. I picked up a couple generators from them, and they were a little more than what you woulds find online, but they were in stocked, oiled, and ready - so the convenience is great. The staff seem to always be busy on the phone, back room, or fixing things, so it does take a while to get help with any questions and confirming what they have in stock. They have also helped to repair my snowblower a number of times, and have always been fair on the hourly rate and getting in the parts needed. read more

I have an old commercial mower where after 20 plus years the engine blew. I came here asking about getting a new engine. The rest of the mower was all still tip top. I didn't want an entire new mower and didn't want to try and repair the obviously blown motor. Employees here seemed put off. I had the model number, serial number and mower for them to look at. They said they couldn't find a match with the serial number I gave them and weren't interested in looking at the mower. I was basically told "sorry" as they then looked to the person behind me and said "next please". Went somewhere else where they slapped a new honda engine on my trusty old mower and sent me on my way. read more

I have a 3 year old craftsman snow blower that was acting up and knew it was the carburetor. I ordered a replacement carburetor from Sears but didn't have the time to install it. I took it into Mower Medic to replace the carburetor and have the oil changed. I asked for an estimate up front and it seemed fair. I got a call few days later indicating it was done and cost was very close to estimate. Customer service was great and the snow blower motor runs better than new. I also appreciated the staff was wearing masks and using Covid prevention precautions with their customers. I have purchased parts for an OLD Honda mower on a couple of occasions, First off they were very attentive as the parts were not on hand, I placed the order and then when they arrived I received a phone call reminding me. The second time I had to order parts again and they were not on hand I forgot that I had ordered them, the called and let me know, asking if I still needed them. I asked them questions about other equipment that I was servicing personally, as I have the know how and they were respectful and honest. First, Remington makes some fine products. I have a Remington shot gun that I love. I use a Remington electric shaver, which easily competes with similarly priced Norelcos. And last summer I purchased a Remington 4 stroke leaf blower that worked better than any I've owned... until it didn't. Primer bulb stopped pulling fuel into it and wouldn't draw gas into the carburetor. The blower has a 2 year warranty, and that's where everything goes south. While attempting to get it fixed, Remington and their warranty service provider, Mower Medic in South Jordan, Utah have managed to provide me the worst customer service I've ever received on any product I've ever owned! When I called Remington to find out who does there warrant work I waited on hold for more than an hour. They referred me to Mower Medic for warranty service so I took it in and told them the problem with the carburetor. Even though it's under warranty they wouldn't take it unless I gave them a $30 deposit. They informed me they were 10 days to 2 weeks out on getting to it. Well, okay. They called me back 2 weeks later and said it needed a new carburetor and it would be $126... which is about what I paid for the blower. I said no problem I have the warranty information. They said Remington doesn't warrant the carburetor. Well, not okay. Another call to Remington...another hour plus on hold, and sure enough Remington said they don't warranty the carburetor. The point is if they would have told me that when I took it in, I wouldn't have left it. I only took it to them in the first place because of the warranty. So I went back to Mower Medic to pick it up. You guessed it...they wouldn't refund my $30 (said it's not refundable because they had to diagnose the problem.) This is NICOLE KAY, by the way, the manager of no customer service. I said I knew, and they knew what the problem was when I brought it in, but I thought it would be a repair and not a replace. She said Remington doesn't allow them to do carburetor repairs, only replacements. I said What?! They're not covering it under the warranty, what do you or they care what you do to fix it. Obviously, a rebuild requires some time and effort and the replace is a five minute job on a bad day. (4 screws and connect the fuel lines). The carburetor costs them $45 or so NICOLE KAY says, so $126 is a pretty great deal...for them! Like they couldn't do the right thing for a customer, because...Remington! Right! Again, they didn't tell me the carburetor wasn't covered under warranty, and they didn't tell me they only replace carburetors, not fix them, and they didn't tell me my deposit wasn't refundable. And when I expressed my dissatisfaction, NICOLE KAY became very defensive and rude...accused me of being unreasonable! Now I know...Remington products seem to be good, as long as you don't need their VERY limited warranty service. If you do need to call them, plan on a morning or afternoon on hold and recognize that they couldn't care less about your satisfaction with their service. Once again, that's MOWER MEDIC in South Jordan, Utah. Ask specifically for NICOLE KAY if you want to throw away your money and be thoroughly abused! read more

Dropped my mower off and was told it would be done in a week. A week goes by, zero communication. I call, no one had even looked at the thing yet. Said it would be done in a few days. Few days goes by, zero communication. I call, they say it will be done the next day, the next day goes by, soon it has turned into four days, zero communication. This place is an absolute mess. They either need to hire competent workers in the shop or learn to communicate with their customers. It should never take ever two full weeks to get a mower repaired period. At least be honest and up front with your customers. Very upset, will never use them or recommend them **Wanted to add that I went to pick up the mower and found out that it was never once touched in 17 days, and the part was on backorder even though that monday (now friday) they said it was done. If I could give Mower Medic negative stars I would. This was easily the worst service experience I have ever encountered and I've eaten at Denny's before. When I first dropped of my mower, it took 20 minutes just to get attention. One of the women running the counter saw her friends come in and went to see them instead of helping the line if customers. I was told it was a 2 week wait, but just accepted it since it was the start of the summer. There was still a line of customers as I left with nobody to help them. As my two weeks rolled around, I hadn't heard anything about my mower. I tried calling multiple times never getting an answer. When I finally got an answer, they told me they would call me back, which they never did. I decided I was going to go and pick up my mower whether it was finished or not. I was tired of the poor service I was getting. As I entered their shop and began my wait in line at the unattended counter, another employee was just hanging out talking to friends and looking at their fish. Finally the lady in front of me was helped. They told her that her blower she had brought in still wasn't ready. This was her third visit expecting it to be done only to have her time pushed back again. She left upset that her item still wasn't ready. I finally made it to the counter and asked about my mower. It took them several minutes to locate my mower, only to be told they hadn't done anything on it yet. I told them I wanted my mower and a refund. They tried to argue with me that they still had time, and had to look up when I even brought it in. They finally gave me my refund and I went on my way. I noticed they had a massive yard of mower, tillers, blowers and more waiting to be serviced. This company is a joke. I wouldn't even suggest them to my worst enemy. Their staff is clueless and has the worst work ethics I have ever encountered. Don't even consider them. Just run the other direction. read more

Took my snow blower in for a tune up. Got it back with a ripped primer "button" and the choke would not stay in. Brought it back that fall to have that fixed. Got a call that there was no spark and the repairs would be the cost of a new blower for a new magneto assembly and new carburetor 20 year old Toro. Never had a single issue with starting with fresh gas Took it home, suspicious of the diagnosis. Blower started right up but the turn off key was disconnected so i had to turn it on its side to stall it. The blade brake was also disconnected. So now its worse than when I brought it in. Took it back to have them explain why they took $50 and severely misdiagnosed the issue, and to have them put it back to original working order. Got a call that day with a whole new problem. Repairs would now be a "discounted" $80 for a new auger assembly since the handle's bottom brackets had rusted off the assembly. Looked more like the welds had popped but whatever. Handles had been attached every time I lifted in an out of the truck. The blower was still a mess and the items I wanted reconnected were not touched. In fact now the choke was disconnected in addition to the blade brake and the ignition cutoff. Manger told me the original diagnosis of no SPARK was due to the motor being flooded. Wait! What? Even if that was true then why a $400 estimate for a carburetor and magneto assembly. It took it to Home Depot since Lowe's uses Mower Medic for repairs. That was the most shady experience of my life. I took it in for a tune up on a perfectly working snow blower and am left with something that looks like my dad's snow blower that I took apart when I was 12 to "fix it"". My advice is "run" because all of those experiences were painful. They did refund my $50. read more

I took a Stihl product there to be warranted, as they are an authorised dealer. They said it would take 3-5 days. After 10, they told me to come and get the product since I didn't purchase it from there and take it where I bought it. The management was rude, arrogant and very unprofessional and I would not recommend doing business with this establishment. read more

In the end, I was satisfied with the service I received and it was covered under the Honda Warranty. It took about 12 days before they looked at the mower for the first time to diagnose the problem. They kept telling me different diagnostic guesses which kept pointing to user error instead of an actual manufacturer's defect. They have a $40 minimum charge for all non-warranty work. They are not very responsive in answering their phone. If they don't answer don't leave a message just call back. They are also not responsive in answering email. They did fix my problem under warranty but it was a battle to get there. read more

Mower medic seems to be in the business of getting you buy a new piece of equipment instead of fixing what you brought in to them. Had a string trimmer we asked to be looked at. Without even taking a look or asking what the trouble was they just went right to, "you're better off just buying a new one!" Took it home and had a neighbor look at it, it was a quick $15 fix! I never write reviews, and I never complain, but in this instance it deserves a one star, which is generous. Customer facing manner could use a little polish. I had to call three times to check on mower for simple cable and blade replacement AFTER the one week time frame had passed. Service counter said they sent text, I did not receive a text, I had to go by shop to check and see if mower was ready. Phone service is terrible, they either don't answer, or they don't follow up. To top it off, my bill was rather exorbitant, $96 for a cable and blade installed. Attendant indicated I was "only" charged 1/2 hour for labor, which seems reasonable for the time spent. Upon leaving, I looked at my invoice, their labor rate is $100/hour. Wait, what? Am I seeing Sinatra, U2, a surgeon, or did I just visit a small machine/repair shop? Their labor rate seems very high for those type of repairs. My bad for not knowing this upfront, but it seems unconscionable this shop takes this approach. Take advantage of me once, I'll never be back. My advice is run the other way. read more

Absolutely horrible experience! I purchased a Cub Cadet 100 Walk Behind Trimmer in 2014 at Home Depot. In 2015, I couldn't get it to start. I didn't have time to deal with, but in 2016, I needed to. I went to the Cub Cadet website and the closest service center list was Mower Medic, 11273 South Redwood Road. I took the 20 mile drive with the mower only to find out that Mower Medic no longer serviced Cub Cadet machines. However, if I would pay $50, they would call Cub Cadet to discuss servicing the trimmer. A few days later, I got a call from Cub Cadet saying that they would not honor the Warranty or their First Pull promise because Mower Medic claimed it wouldn't start because of 'bad gas.' Setting aside the fact that I have and maintain ATVs, snowmobiles, another trimmer, two lawn mowers, and a bunch of other power equipment, and know how to care for this kind of equipment, I was surprised how badly Mower Medic handled the situation. While I was fighting with Cub Cadet to honor their warranty, I got ONE call from Mower Medic asking about the status of the trimmer and whether I wanted to proceed with the repair. I told them I was still waiting for my case to be escalated at Cub Cadet. That was they one and only call I got from Mower Medic. They told me to let them when I found something out. I received no other contact from Mower Medic. A couple of weeks later, Mower Medic 'disposed' of my trimmer. They never called me to say something like, 'you need to pick up your trimmer or else...'. Nope, nothing. I still don't know if their use of the word 'disposed' meant that they threw it out, or sold it, or are using it at the owner's cabin. All I know is that I can't have it back. I have the repair 'work order' that Mower Medic provided me. Nowhere on that work order does it state that Mower Medic reserves the right to dispose of my equipment. To make matters worse, Mower Medic's service department saw my calls coming in (caller ID) to check on my trimmer and they didn't answer or return the calls. Finally, I had to call another extension to get someone to pick up and tell me that my trimmer was gone. As far as I'm concerned, Mower Medic is the most dishonest service center I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. If they were the last service center in greater Salt Lake (which I thought they were) to service my machine, I'd throw the machine away. At least that way, I'd still have $50. read more

We took in our mower under warranty and they "fixed" the self propel on it. They also added a $50 charge to clean out the grass under our mower without asking us. So we did get them to remove that fee. Pretty steep for cleaning out some grass-a 2 minute job that doesn't take any parts! We brought the mower back, used it for 5 minutes and the self propel broke again. Apparently a belt on it broke causing the self propel to break again. We brought it back it and they said maybe a stick got caught in it and broke the belt. It seems pretty obvious to us that it wouldn't have broke if they didn't attempt to "fix" it in the first place. They also wanted to charge us a cleaning fee AGAIN even though we'd only mowed once since having it fixed...we picked it up without having them service it since it was going to be $85 to replace the belt they broke...We wont be going here again. read more

I should have listened to the negative reviews here before taking my snowblower in, because they are either dishonest or incompetent; I can't figure out which. I had taken my snowblower into the draper location in winter of 2014 because it would not start. After they had it for two weeks they called me and told me that it needed a new carburetor. I agreed to the replacement and got my snowblower back. We had very little snow last winter but the two or three times I did try to use it, it would flood and stall out any time the blades hit actual snow. Never had a chance to take it back in that winter, because there was never any snow of note, and would have been impossible to replicate the issues if there was no snow on the ground. Took it back at the first snowfall this winter so they could see the issue. Had to go the south jordan location now because the draper location is closed. They gave me the two week wait time for diagnosis, as is apparently their standard procedure, but did not charge me the $50 deposit at drop off. Two weeks later, they called and told me that the carburetor needed to be replaced. Told them they supposedly had just replaced the carburetor last year, and the snowblower was having this issue with the supposed brand new carburetor, so how could this be the problem? They said our fuel is so bad here that it can cause the problem immediately. Told them not to touch my snowblower further. When I went to pick it up, they then told me they would not release the snowblower without the $50 deposit. I questioned why I should have to pay this, because they didn't fix the problem last year when I had it in. Advised that if the carburetor needed to be replaced now, then either it wasn't replaced last year, because I had drained the fuel, and it shouldn't have gone bad after just a couple of uses; or it doesn't need to be replaced now and they have misdiagnosed the issue, which is why I was picking up my machine. The woman working the front desk became immediately combative, and the situation went south from there. They stated they would not stand behind their work because they only had a thirty day warranty(which is ridiculous for a snowblower. We would go more than thirty days without snow last winter; a snowblower is not like a car which you would use every day). I didn't think my request was unreasonable; I didn't ask them to fix the problem for free, but I shouldn't have to pay for aanother diagnosis of the same issue, which isn't the problem at all! The only person who was reasonable that could speak in civil tones was a tech that came up from the back. I've heard from someone that has a commercial amount with them that he is happy with them, but apparently if you're just one person with a single job they couldn't care less. read more

called mower medic as well as 3 others in the salt lake valley to get my mower blade sharpened. Even though across town, they told me to bring it in and it would be done while i wait. while I waited for them to finish my mower, i needed a new air filter and spark plug and although they did not carry my exact mower, they had both parts and saved me one other stop to Sears where i bought my mower. Price of sharpening the blade was better than the other 3 places in slc. While waiting, i learned this is a locally owned and operated mom and pop (actually dad, son, and 2 daughter) place. The two women at the service desk were knowledgeable about what parts i needed and helped me with all my questions. The place was 23 minutes away from my house but it was well worth it and i left a happy and content customer. I would go back there for service and will when the time comes. For the other reviews that complain about getting service, that is actually nice knowing they spend time with customers - something kinda rare today. I expected to wait since they don't have 20 people working the front desk as they are not the size of a home depot or lowes but a small business. Thank you to the women who work up front. read more

I will NEVER go back to mower medic, EVER!!!. My experience with Mower Medic in South Jordan Ut was by far the worst customer service experience I have EVER had. They had my mower for over 6 weeks. Never once did they call me to provide a status. If I wanted to find out a status I would have to call them. Every time I called they would tell me that the part had been shipped and it would be there the next Tuesday. Tuesday would come and go and no call and no mower. After 6 weeks of this I finally got upset and said I will pick up the mower today get it fixed. Somehow the part was magically there and they fixed it. They had also tuned up my mower and sharpened the blade for $150. When I went into pick up my mower I said I need a discount for the 6 week delay. The owners daughter started yelling at me stating that it isn't their fault if the manufacture doesn't have the part in. I said you guys either forgot to order it of didn't notice it was in. Long story short, she kicked me out of the store and said she was going to call the cops. They still have my mower and refuse to give it back!!!! What a joke of a business!! read more
