We went for the Winterlit event. It was a warm rainy night for December, so be prepared to bring weatherproof clothes and boots. The trail ground was dark and muddy, though the path was lined with lights.
The installations were all beautiful creations featuring sustainable and recycled materials. Some spots were enchanting and magical. Lots of selfie opps and romantic corners There are kid friendly and educational stops, so good fun for the whole family.
There were fire pits and we stopped at one to make smores (i packed the ingredients and sticks).
There are two trails loops for the event. It is not a difficult hike with a wide and pretty flat trail/road. They had an off-road fat tire wheelchair in the main office building for use. Cookie making was upstairs, an add-on when you buy tickets. The gift shop has hot drinks for purchase and they offered free hot chocolate on the trail. There was a grilled cheese kiosk behind the main office.
They are known as a raptor centre, however the building is closed at night to respect the animals.
It is a nice accessible park, part of HRCA and Winterlit is a lovely way to spend an evening in the winter. Some weather coverage would have been nice around the installations. Plenty of parking. Timed tickets. Well organized event. Nice staff. read more
