Owner is rude!! I had a question that didn't seem important to her but it was for my household.

I can't speak for other people-however I have found Dr Gustafson and his staff to be very…read moredelightful. I will say, I am very protective of my dog(and my other animals-like I will not let other people watch them, as I trust very very very few people to treat them with the care and respect that I do-I am definitely a pet parent that takes pet "ownership" extremely seriously-I am the one who is no fun at parties when people are doing things to animals that they think are fun-but are actually harmful-whether a bird cage is too small, diets are unhealthy-or toys and treats that are known to be issues-yet even though I MIGHT ruin the fun-people often come to me first when their pets are acting off to see if I would worry enough to schedule a vet visit). I also know that sometimes to handle an animal, restraining them can look rough, but it doesn't hurt them, and sometimes they have to be restrained for safety of the staff, and the animal. My dog has never needed to be restrained-but she is old-and I felt he was very gentle with her. I am personally very happy I found a vet so close by-and one that is a small family practice. I find them all very easy to communicate with, very knowledgeable, and caring without being overly personal (again-just like Drs-it's one thing to care-but if you don't want to burn out, you cannot develop personal, in depth relationships with clients-as it can muddy their care). I would personally recommend them to anyone who prefers a small practice and not a huge facility. I don't know if they do any holistic medicine, but really if you are into that, you should look for a provider that specializes in that as a majority of their care. Good luck to everyone and their pets-I am so sorry anyone had a bad experience-but also keep in mind-have you always treated every single person you have come across as politely and caring as you expect to be treated? It's a two way street, and we all have bad days, none of us are perfect-and to top it off, veterinarians have one of the highest suicide rates of professions-so please be compassionate, and understanding-their job is harder and takes an emotional toll on them as well.

I called for an emergency visit (like their site says they offer) for my cat (who's been here…read morebefore with our other 3 cats as well) who needed to be urgently seen. The wife confirmed my cat needed to be seen by someone but said they don't offer that. I stated that's untrue because in the last two years I h ad brought TWO of my cats in for an emergency (unrelated and at separate times); she continued to argue with me before handing me to her husband who quickly decided screaming at me was the solution. I was already in tears about my cat who I've had for 7 years and has had medical issues in the past (that they helped with so it made sense to try and take her there where her history is known) so to have him display such vulgar behavior was stunning. I will never be returning here. I hope you don't continue to do "business" like this.

Valley Veterinary Emergency Hospital and Referral Center - They would've put a perfectly healthy cat down if I would've said yes. That says a lot.

I have used this bed multiple times for sick animals. Right now it's a Sunday night and I've been…read morehere 11 hours with my sick Doberman. He had to get X-rays and blood work and all kinds of things for the current situation. I feel like they get a bad rap because it's awful to have to go to an urgent care with your vet because the way is always long and it's always much more expensive than the vet. It's just like going to urgent care instead of your doctor. People get mad about the weight but they are doing the best they can with dozens of walk-ins with all kinds of different situations. People get frustrated because nobody thinks that they're going to have to spend the day at an urgent care for their animal. People don't like paying more but that's life. I feel like these negative reviews don't consider that without these people, you would have nowhere to take your sick or injure dog in the middle of the night or on a Sunday in an emergency. The staff is lovely and the doctors are great. It sucks to have to wait so long but that's the nature of the business. All Things Considered they're dealing with stressed out people with sick and injured animals all day long and everybody wants help right now. You just have to wait your turn. Every time I've been here I've gotten superb care for my animals. I had a very sick cat that I had to take in at 9:00 at night on a Tuesday night to be put to sleep and they were so kind and sympathetic. They let me spend time in a room with my animal before and after even though they had 50 people waiting to be seen. I think they are lovely people that work here and I highly recommend this place for your animal emergencies.

I am quite sure has never been wrong in any diagnosis or treatment options he has ever offered us, and because of Augusta Animal Hospital's care- all our animals lived (and some are still living) healthy, happy and LONG lives. I will lastly say- (though not last in my praise)- his staff have always been as kind, and patient, and helpful as can be, and even in stressful situations, always have a smile and try to ease our (and our animal's) distress. Augusta may not be the fanciest animal hospital out there- but it's most certainly the very, very best.

They are not at all prompt to acknowledge customers at the counter. I've had two appointments with two different doctors- neither of whom have introduced themselves- I still don't know their names. Today's vet tech also did not introduce herself. At neither appointment has any employee talked to my cat. I find that unusual in a vet's office. The doctor today spent our appointment edging toward the door and avoiding eye-contact. It felt like I had to pull information out of her rather than having a dialog. She didn't check my cat over or touch her until I asked about something specific. While I don't fault the treatment, I do find the staff strangely impersonal. The cats who wander around are great though- I love them.

I have been going to this vet since it opened in this area. Before going here, I typically took my…read morecats to the vet in Moorefield, WV. The drive was never fun, and there weren't appointments, so one could end up waiting over an hour if it was a busy day. I love that this vet has extended hours on Wednesday evenings so that I can go after I get off work. I call, make an appointment, and I can be done in under 10 minutes after arriving. The vets are a father/son duo, and they also have a main vet office near Keyser called Hi-Rock Animal Hospital. If your pet happens to need more extensive testing or a stay overnight, they'll transport your pet here to care for them, and bring them back to the Romney office when it's time to go home. Their services may seem a bit pricey at times, but to me, that's worth the trade off in gas and time I would use to drive elsewhere. I've used them for regular yearly checkups, a teeth cleaning, gastro-intestinal issues (cat stayed a few nights), vomiting issues, and euthanizing two elderly cats. The one time in particular was memorable because I had no money on me at the time to pay for it, since I'd accidentally left my checkbook at home in my grief. Since my cats were clients and had been, the vet told me to bring the check by the next week, no problem. I definitely have never forgotten that kindness. They are definitely my preferred vet of choice!

I called to see if there was an emergency number on their answering machine message & the father answered the phone. He told me he would meet me at his office in Keyser right then so he could see her. She had to have surgery that night & wouldn't have survived otherwise. They also saved my sisters dogs after they ate rat poison. I have heard negative reviews about father Gustafson, I think his personality is just a little rough around the edges but he knows what he's doing & is a great doctor! Thanks docs
