I never thought I would be able to run or jog again because the vertical impact was just too much for my vertebrae to handle, and it hurt! That's when I found Kessler in Fanwood. Kessler has a device called an Alter-G, which is a treadmill that reduces the effect of gravity, and thereby reduces the vertical impact. This allows me to run and jog without fear of causing additional damage to my spine while the medication I'm taking for osteoporosis begins to work. When I contacted Kessler, I spoke with Samantha and made an appointment to come in to see the Alter-G, and learn how to operate it. I met with Kurt, who explained to me in detail how to don the gravity pants, how to control the effects of gravity, how to change the speed and incline, and how to change cameras to view my stride from multiple angles. The level of precision and depth of knowledge was pretty amazing, and Kurt's expertise and easy manner helped me get over the anxiety of a potential re-injury of my spine. I am always greeted courteously and promptly. The staff are friendly and knowledgable. The facility and equipment are very clean, with plenty of floor space, multiple curtained treatment areas, as well as private treatment areas. Bathrooms are clean and spacious with room enough for me to dry off and change out of my running clothes. Parking for the facility and all neighboring shops in the development is behind the building, where there is a very large parking lot. Thanks to everyone at Kessler in Fanwood, my outlook has dramatically changed. In summer of 2017, I despaired that I would not be able to run again. Today, I am training for a full Ironman event with a 26 .2 mile run. Kessler Fanwood is there to help with my goals, and to fix me up any time I get injured along the way. The people at Kessler have honestly changed my life. There is no more succinct nor profound way to explain the extent of my gratitude for everyone there.

Thinking of this crazy journey and remembering a time when I couldn't even lift my leg to now doing heavy leg press, Dr Sean and his amazing staff have been here for me every step of the way. Thanks Sean, you're an amazing human and my favorite doctor by a long shot!! From June 2016 Dr Sean Basinger is hands down the best physical therapist I have EVER met. He is knowledgeable, thorough, extremely professional and clearly has a passion for helping people. He has rehabilitated both my bf and myself to our previous super active glory, and we can't thanks him enough. His staff are helpful and courteous and the facility is immaculate!! I actually look forward to my appointments! In fact, with all the PT places around me, I drive over 45 minutes to go to the Freehold office and don't even mind. It's 100% worth it because my migraines have decreased and my neck pain is significantly reduced. BEYOND happy that I chose to go to Health and Fitness Professionals and would recommend to anyone.

When I first started coming here, I had little to no hope of getting use of my arm and leg back. Judy, Megan, and Bill, the physical therapists, all believed I would be able to get most, if not all, of my range of motion and strength back. They motivated me to push myself every session and kept me on track to even on the days I felt too weak or out of it to even try. As a result of their persistent encouragement, my leg is now 100% back to full capability and my arm is well on its way too, although having another surgery set my timeline back a bit for my arm. The entire team mentioned above, as well as Greg, Laura, and Emily, really know what they are doing. They make sure to adjust your workouts to your comfort level, and explain each exercise as you progress. I am extremely impressed with their professionalism and the amount of effort they give each individual person they treat to get them as far as possible in their recovery. But it all begins with your experience as you walk in. Shannon, who does most of the scheduling, organizing and a whole lot of other things behind the scenes around the office, is extremely kind and always a joy to see when you first walk into the office! She always has a smile on her face and is always willing to help you out with whatever you need. Thanks to this amazing team, I am able to continue my career in the military and my job in the civilian world which both require a lot of physical capability. I high recommend this facility and the staff!

PT, by definition, aims to relieve pain in the Soma and, by extension, pledges to soothe the Soul…read more Ivy rehabilitation fails miserably at the soul part. Let me explain. In May 2024, after intensive cancer radiation therapy, I had severe back pain and my insurance company, Aetna, recommended several In-network PT clinics, and I chose Excel, a division of IVY rehabilitation. After two helpful sessions in which I paid the required In-network co-pay, there was a kerfuffle about whether the assigned therapist was In or out of network which would have impacted my financial responsibility for the sessions. Thankfully, it appeared that the matter was resolved as In-network, and I moved on. Fast-forward to January 2026 and Ivy rehab reneged on accepting my insurance and invoiced me for several hundred dollars and threatens to ruin my credit rating by moving to collection if I don't pay now, 19 months later. Soul crushing! Even the Excel clinic director petitioned to have this invoice quashed but was denied by Ivy rehabilitation headquarters. Therefore beware, even if Ivy rehab accepts your insurance today, they may crush your soul a year or even two years later. BTW, there is hope. A relative, using the exact same insurance, had a wonderful Soma and Soul experience with JAG rehabilitation. Go figure Soul survivor
