Mountainland Exteriors hires good contractors to do good work, so that's a good thing. However, the owner of the company is a terrible communicator. Terrible! Someone was supposed to come to the house and discuss the roof, what it will look like, what needs to be done and when; the process of it all. That never happened. Someone came here to take measurements, but never discussed the aesthetics of the roof (a salesman was supposed to do that or something, but he never showed up). We waited to learn more about the financing of the project, payments, etc. and the owner didn't follow up with us until I called him the very morning the roofing contractors came to our home to get started. They just showed up and were ready to work (although that is not their fault) even though we had no idea that they were coming over that day and no one had discussed the aesthetics and the financial side had not been confirmed. We were waiting to get all this information and never got it and then BAM! There they are, ready to work. Ridiculous. We have been waiting for them to let us know when the gutter contractors will get started. We keep hearing "oh, probably Monday next week" from Mountainland, which was said to us a lot while we were trying to figure out when someone would come by to talk about what the roof would even look like (which, again, didn't happen until the very day they showed up to start the new roof). They are supposed to be here Tuesday next week. Ok, fine, but where is the communication!? I don't need people just showing up at my home unexpectedly to do work. I need a time frame and I need communication and it would make sense that the company would actually stay in contact with us as opposed to us always having to badger them to find out what the hell is going on with our project. Today I learned that we are being charged an extra $1799 because some extra wood was used to fix a portion of the roof. NO ONE let us know about this extra cost. NO ONE! It was a total surprise to us and we are, to say the least, pissed off. Very pissed off. That extra cost absolutely should have been made clear BEFORE that work was done. Again, zero effective communication from this company. The contractors who put on the new roof did a lovely job. That being said, I would take it all back and call another company to do the work or I would have hired them independent of Mountainland. Price changes in the amount of nearly 2K should never come as a surprise to a customer. Never. I feel screwed over; totally duped. read more

Awful company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!! Please know I had my roof replaced in Aug 2015. The company did a similar situation to what I just read on the BBB complaint. I did not have the funds to replace my roof and would need to qualify, if not could not do the job. Well, I got the call back... yes, your qualified and ready to go. New roof installed and then the follow up call demanding payment in full. I was so shocked and had to come up with the money I did not have. It was such a deceitful situation and felt the company was just awful. I am sad I did not leave a review sooner perhaps the guy who left the complaint on the BBB would not have been in the same situation. I have read through the bad reviews and sure enough it looks like they still do the same thing. Please know there are many good business out there and I leave great reviews for people who are deserving of it. I also believe it is important to inform others where there is something not good going on so that innocent people don't get taken advantage of. Don't just listen to me, read the other comments, reviews the BBB then make your informed decision. read more

I saw them at the home show, and scheduled an appointment for a roof repair estimate. We confirmed the night before, but they never showed up. They finally called to say they were running more than an hour behind schedule. I explained that they should have called an hour ago...and let me know they were running late. Instead of wasting my time, and having me leave work, to go drive 30 minutes to an appointment they knew an hour ago they would not be keeping. How incredibly unprofessional. If they treat their customers this poorly when they're trying to earn your business...I can only imagine how badly they'd treat you after they have your money. read more

If you expect communication and transparency this is not the company for you! I am having siding and a few other things done, I read reviews prior to going with Randy. They were mostly about windows so I disregarded them when I shouldn't have. I liked Randy, he told me his honest opinion about the choices I was making and seemed to want to be sure I was getting what I wanted as this is a long term investment which is going to be seen everyday when I pull up to my house. Some of what's going on I'm sure is actually beyond his control and Alsides (the vendor for the materials) but there's next to no communication going on unless prompted by us, and there's been a few little white lies that have been told. We were told that they'd be here on a few different dates and no one ever showed because of material or crew problems, again if that was communicated it wouldn't have really been an issue. We just wanted to be sure we were here when they first came over to make sure we got the correct material (as advised by Randy) which seemed wise. When we expressed frustration with the false starts due to missing work on the days they'd scheduled 3 times the response was something along the lines of "We're going to be outside, no one needs to be home" which seemed facetious. They also claimed to have been trying to reach me instead of my husband and while it's possible that they had the wrong number I am doubtful, I never received any texts or missed calls from Jason, the man that claimed to be trying to reach me. They ordered white corners, I originally wanted espresso but that had been discontinued in 2017 and I wasn't informed. I found out when the corners were installed, so we had to pick a different color, after going back and forth about who's going to pay for this mistake. Randy wanted us to pay for the installation of the new color, which we refused due to the fact that it was a mistake made by him when ordering materials. In a later conversation he explained to my father that he wasn't going to make me pay for that, I have text messages proving otherwise. Instead of offering a good customer experience by providing communication between the customer and the vendor, he gave me the vendor's information and my husband and I have been going back and forth with him ourselves. Andrew at Alside has been handling our request, but we've been sorely disappointed with his communication as well. We have been waiting for something to happen for a couple of weeks now, understanding that the material isn't available for a few more days. There are several things that we've shared with Alside and Randy that need to be fixed (see attached images) but nothing has been done to correct those things or communicate to us when they will be. There's a pile of siding and other stuff on the side of my house blowing away with the stormy weather we've been having. I was told someone came by the house this morning to make sure nothing would blow away... You can see in the images that things indeed are not secured as promised. The cover of the dryer vent was removed who knows how long ago and never put back on so we're also looking at a rodent issue. When informed of this Andrew and Randy didn't even respond. I have been left with a house in this state for over two weeks. I realize that the supply chain is a global issue, but communication should be priority. When this project is complete I'll re-evaluate my review but as of now I would give 1 star.. read more

Randy came to our home and said that his crew would put on a new roof with extra vents and new gutters. We would have 12 months no interests. His crew seemed knowledgeable and did clean up most of the debris. However, they did not put on the gutters. We had to call him again and he stated that he didn't agree to that. We proved it on the contract. After that he put our financing on a HIGH interest credit card. I will never deal with him or his business again. Not honest at all! read more

The worst customer service I have ever received. Do not work with this company whatsoever. They will guarantee you some thing and decide to cancel after making you wait for three weeks. From the very beginning, they had a guaranteed me that I can get my windows in and installed and the individual to come measure within the next few days. As time progressed, three weeks went by And Randy had not picked up any of my calls or messaged me back. He had kept saying that my windows had ordered and wasted three weeks of my time. Especially during these times when everything is delayed, I could've sent my business somewhere else and he decided to and show me every single time that the windows have been ordered. After three weeks of waiting, I finally sent him a message expressing my feelings. All he did was come up with excuses and decided to cancel on my behalf without my confirmation. Please do yourself a favor and don't ever work with these guys. Honestly have never had such a bad experience throughout my life. read more

We had our roof redone. When the crew discovered that plywood was needed as a base, they worked hard and still completed the job on time. All of the people that we spoke to and that did the work were friendly, helpful and explained everything they were doing. It was a very positive experience with such a big and stressful project. read more

Tried to find a contractors license through the DOPL (Department of Professional Licensing Utah) I could not find proof. Beware of non licensed contractors. I did find a business license through the City of Riverton, but that is not a contractor license. Get a written proposal, get proof of warranty guarantee and ask for proof of insurance,and what it covers. Make sure you are not responsible in case of accidents. read more

Randy, the owner, came out to give the estimate and signed a contract to replace, not just repair, my leaky skylight. He ensured me that his people would do a great job. He assessed the problem that the skylight needed replacing from the base of the roof in its entirety. When his workers arrived, Jason, the guy in charge, said that the roof was quite brittle so they recommended just replacing the skylight dome itself and then seeing if this fixed them problem. He left instructions to call if it didn't fix the leak and that they would come back and replace it completely if that was the case. Of course, when it continued to leak, I contacted both Randy and Jason, both of which were either rude or dismissive of me and never came back to fix the leak, after taking my money. Jason was especially rude and threatening - I have his text messages to prove it. Please don't use Mountainland, anyone else would be better. I never leave reviews but in this case I wanted to get the message out. read more

Mountainland Exteriors was amazing! I had a previous bid from another company in town, their employee ran around the outside of the house and told me they would email me my bid later. They also said that I was welcome to go to their showroom downtown if I wanted to see what windows they offered. Days later I asked my neighbor who they bought their new windows from and they told me Mountainland Exteriors. My neighbor could not say enough good things about them and their bid came in lower! The owner Randy came out and sat down with me and told me exactly why I needed new windows and showed me a sample of what I would be getting. Just what I needed to hear when making a big investment. Randy also came back after installation to help us with our rebate, set up financing, and make sure we were satisfied with the job.
