crap quality so poor its potentially dangerous.
i was away camping, and an unexpected cold spell surprised us- so passing a mountain warehouse shop we thought we'd nip in and buy an extra sleeping bag; always handy to have a spare/ extra spare.
like DFS etc they always seem to have a sale on, which should rouse suspicions... the sleeping bag i bought, though rated at -10, was unable to keep me warm at 5' above freezing.
while i luckily had two bags, and got a refund, this will not be the case with everyone. when i took the bag back for a refund, there was a nice family in buying kit for their daughter's D of E. so she's going to be outside, at night, in something no warmer than a hanky. thats evil, and potentially dangerous.
i hung around trying to catch their eye to speak to them but the staff were eying me and i didn't want to create a scene~ I've felt guilty ever since.
i took the bag back to this covent garden store, and got a refund (had to fill out my details; on a sheet with a LOT entries, all recent, so its clearly a regular issue).
since then I've seen flaming reviews of them online- they're a joke on sites like outdoors magic's forum.
I'm sure they're ok if you're buying stuff to wear around town, but for actual camping and proper outdoors gear they should be avoided at all costs.
its pretty bad a company can continue to sell sub par gear anyway, but when its outdoors equipment its criminal- someone could die using this crap, caught in a storm somewhere.
there are really awful. read more
