"I am a positive reinforcement dog trainer and animal behaviorist. All of our animals have been vetted by Dr. McMillan and staff at Mountain View Animal Clinic for countless years. Three years back my 4 year old dog Bailey swallowed a piece of fabric from a toy. We didn't know her ailment, but she rapidly declined in 48 hours. We called Monday and were seen the same day. After an X-Ray, the staff discovered the fabric lodged deep in her intestine and the intestine surrounding it were dead or dying. They helped us through the difficult decision to put Bailey down, deciding that surgery wasn't an option because her stomach and remaining intestine had a high likelihood of being damaged. The staff each came in to the room to say their goodbyes to Bailey, hugged us and shared in our tears. After this horrific incident, four short weeks later it was time for our 16 year old dog, Guinness, to cross the Rainbow Bridge from old age. We again received the same
outpouring of love and kindness. Guinness and Bailey's ashes are together, under the same tree.
A few days after Guinness' passing, our 14 year old dog Lucky stopped being active and refused to eat, we felt we were on the verge of loosing her, and my three little girls were hysterical. MVAC quickly and accurately assessed the situation, gave recommendations of exercise and an antidepressant. Simply stating Lucky was depressed after the loss of her best friends. Lucky, thankfully, made a full recovery!
We acquired two new puppies from the Humane Society, Ava and Roo. Roo caught Parvo (even after receiving all of her vaccinations). I contribute her successful win over Parvo because we have learned so much through MVAC on how to feed our pack appropriately, adding different vitamins and minerals with veggies and raw foods to their diet. I made Roo a bone broth and got her to drink it everyday. Just this year Roo had a massive lymphoma that had to be surgically removed. Roo now suffers separation anxiety and is a bit shy during vet visits because of the 7 day quarantine at the other vet hospital during her Parvo treatment. Dr. McMillan is patient and gentle with Roo and allowed me to stay in the room to comfort her until she went under anesthesia. When Roo was finished with surgery, I was provided a pillow and blanket to lay with her while she slowly awoke. This lessened Roo's anxiety and stress greatly, allowing her not being kenneled in the back room,
left alone. I cannot express my sincerest gratitude for MVAC understanding that our dogs are part of our family.
Lucky is now an amazing 16 1/2 years old and finally has begun to show signs of age. Instead of recommending putting her down, Dr. McMillan has started her on a gentle and slow pain management plan, with a boost of vitamins and minerals for her arthritis, and walks on soft grass to ease the pain in her worn pads. I am happy to say that 24 hours later, she was moving with ease and not limping.
I can trust Doctor McMillan not to think of his own financial gain. He has always put my animal's best interest first. Whether we liked to hear the news, or not, he has always been straight forward and fair. His diagnosis are spot on. Our family finds extreme comfort in his level of attention and caring."
