When I knew my son and I wouldn't be able to make it down for my auntie's 90th birthday, I absolutely needed to send her some flowers. I was about to go with one of those large commercial florists until my cousin suggested Mountain Oak Florist &Gifts, which is her preferred florist for her mom. She sent me their website info, and I went ahead and had a look-see.
As a small business their selection wasn't as vast as anything a Buzzfeed article suggests, but that's what attracted me to what they offer. Their arrangements are categorized into almost 30 themes, and my son and I enjoyed going through more than just the birthday and anniversary ones because the images were so pretty. The vases and baskets in which the flowers were arranged seemed thoughtfully selected for each colorful bouquet.
We decided on Floral Freshness for my auntie. And here's one of the main reasons why I'm posting this: My online order requested for my auntie's flowers to be send on 2/26, but about an hour ago, my cousin said that my auntie's bouquet had been delivered early. Awesome!*
I don't send a lot of flowers, but talking to my auntie reminded me of how good it feels to do it. I'm really glad that I went with Mountain Oak instead of a larger retailer. I look forward to using them again.
*No offense to the other yelper whose flowers missed a funeral, 'cause that sucks. read more
