The absolute sweetest people run this establishment, and the icing on the cake was great conversation with Brother Billy Inman after eating the biggest biscuit this Cajun girl has ever seen. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I'll start with the room: comfortable pillows, quality linens, very clean, quality bath products, water in the fridge and chocolates on the pillow. The Inn: charming lobby and dining hall, bountiful breakfast, candlelit dessert (we recommend the chocolate brownie with ice cream), delicious coffee, large deck with cozy fire pit and ample seating. Ask about the snore kits and cozy blankets for sitting around the fire. The Staff: from check in, to maid service to the owner we were charmed by southern hospitality. We absolutely loved it here!!!!! We were looking for a place on the water and this is what popped up. Every room faces the lake and the view of the Smoky Mountains is fantastic. The room was very nice and well appointed. We booked a room on the top floor and had one flight of stairs to climb but it wasn't bad at all. The huge plus is they serve a full breakfast every morning that is delicious and desserts every night. They give you way more than you need for dessert. We also got a free pizza the night we checked in and a free boat tour the next night. They have a fire pit that you can use and they will even provide the stuff for smores. The other plus is it's adults only so it's very quiet and relaxing. The staff is extremely friendly and polite. The only downside I saw was it seems a little dated on the outside but the next time we travel to the area we will be staying here. read more

This was my aunt and uncles 1st time visiting Douglas lake. They had bad experience at previous hotel the night before. I booked room at Mountain Harbor Inn for them and explained what had happened to them. The staff at the Inn more than made up for their bad experiences. The were so kind and courteous and went above and beyond to make them comfortable and happy. Needless to say it was such great experience my aunt cried happy tears...I will always send more business from now on to the Inn. I appreciate everything the staff and managers did for my family. Everyone we spoke to seemed like deer in headlights. We were to get free pizza and ice cream after our trip and the bus driver was way too into banging a dirty girl than getting us what was promised. The facility was lovely and so gorgeous when we got there. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We did request an boat and was told there was none available or the entire weekend. The next morning we got up and had an lovely breakfast and while walking out my husband asked about an boat rental again and they had one, am speed boat. We rented it for the time frame they had available. This "speed boat" was horrible. It was as not an speed boat, the propeller was beat up so badly in it, it's a wonder it was pushing us at all. We could barely even pull anyone on it tubing, it wasn't making good waves at all. It definitely was not worth the money spent on it. With al the money they make in renting rooms and boats, you think they would take better care of their boats. Our first room was "the presidential suit" we was supposed to have "gone with the wind" but something happened and messed our reservation up, luckily that was caught in time for us to book "the presidential suite" it was an nice clean room, the ac didn't work well at all though, it was so hot in there my husband had to go to Walmart and buy us an fan. It did have an ceiling fan above the bed, but it barely worked,..the rooms are so big, the tiny ac unit they have does not cool those rooms off at all. We had this room for 2 nights, we decided to stay a 3rd night so my husband could take the bass boat out, as he wanted to fish. We ended up getting "gone with the wind suite" which was the original room we should have had. This room was lovely at first glance. Although, it was missing the two twin sized beds in the bedroom. Instead there was an ironing board and stand up mirror. This second room with twin beds was the main reason we wanted this room. It was an HUGE disappointment! I will say the food was great, the accommodations were nice, and people friendly. Our rooms came with an amazing dessert every night, which we never got to try. Mainly due to my husband having the boat during those times. We finally found out we could get them in an to give box and take to our rooms then was told the dessert we chose we couldn't do that with due to them being too messy. Which makes no sense to me, people bring fast food and other stuff in that's messier then that, but oh well. The last night in the new room our towels had dead ants in them, the sheets had bed bug ink stains on them and the room was misrepresented big time with the two twin beds. This was a good experience and lie rly time away, but next time I will probably look elsewhere to stay as this was not worth what they charge every night. read more

I stumbled upon this place when looking for places nearby Gatlinburg. I had never stayed at a B&B before so I wasn't really sure what to expect. We arrived at check in and were promptly showed around the property and to our room. We stayed in the Presidential suite and it was a great space and had a great view of Lake Douglas. The room had a kitchenette and a living room area so it was nice and roomy, especially for two people. The rooms were very clean and a cleaning service came through every day. The breakfast buffet exceeded my expectations. I'll be honest and say that expected a more simple breakfast, but they had a full spread of real scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, potatoes, fried apples, biscuits and gravy. It all tasted great and homemade! Each night they offered a sunset cruise at 5pm, which we enjoyed on our first night. Once everyone (around 4 couples) met for the cruise, the staff offered us soft drinks or a water to enjoy on the boat ride. I thought this was a nice touch and showed they always were going out of their way to make your stay more comfortable. On this particular night the owner of Mountain Harbor was our boat captain. You can tell he loves his job. He was happy to tell us the history of Lake Douglas and the city of Dandridge, along with a few jokes. In addition to an ample breakfast they offer dessert every night from 5-8pm and once again I expected small sample sized pastries or grocery store cookies. I could not have been more wrong. We had the option of the signature brownie al a mode, lemon cake, chocolate cake or cheesecake. The brownie could easily be split by 2 people if not more. It is simply HUGE. It was also delicious so its very tempting to keep eating until you are in a sugar coma. Mountain Harbor is at a marina so you can rent boats and jet skis through them and guests get a discount on rentals which is pretty cool. We rented jet skis one day and had a great time on the lake. We found out that the jet skis are tuned down to max out at 40 mph so just a heads up if you are used to going a lot faster. It was my first time riding a jet ski so I felt 40 mph was fast enough. In addition to jet skis they also rent pontoon boats, speed boats and tubes. The lake is awesome for swimming and has some really cool coves that are fun explore. The entire staff was always helpful and friendly. They were always asking how your day was going how you were enjoying yourself. It was real southern hospitality. read more

Bill Inman, the owner of this inn, is a rare fellow these days. I think it is his mission to meet, greet and chat with every guest that darkens his threshold. Built in the 1940's, overlooking Douglas Lake, the Mountain Harbor Inn has been carefully revamped over the years. It is a throwback to simpler times. Real bacon and eggs, gravy and biscuits are on the breakfast buffet to help start the day. Sunset cruise and rather large desserts in the evening. These niceties are included. We found this gem of a place as we were looking to spend the night in or near the Smokey Mountains on our way home from The Keys. They do serve a full breakfast with all the COVID precautions. Caked on dust above the tub, water faucet is coming out of the wall, ceiling light in bathroom is missing the fan and its was full of bugs, water stains running down the wall throughout the bathroom, our bed was literally squeezed into the "room"; I had to pin myself against the wall to get around it, paint is "splotchy", window shades were very dusty and hard to open, outside lights did not work and in the dark it was hard to see where you were walking, old pay phone on the wall by the office that was covered in cobwebs and dirt, etc. With a thorough refresh, Mountain Harbor Resort could be spectacular but at this point we probably will not return. read more

My husband I have stayed here 3 times in the same cabin. We were there for Thanksgiving and it didn't take us long to realize that mice were sneaking and eating our food. The last night was the worst. Every time I got out of bed to use the restroom there was a mouse in my bathroom. Fortunately we had a second bathroom that I could use. My husband called and complained and they said they'd send someone over to set traps and poison, but they never showed up. The last night was the worst. I was asleep and he ate some chips. They were on the end table next to him. He heard the package rustling and it was a mouse, right beside him. It ran away but came back again. My husband finally saw it again and "killed" it and threw it off the balcony. I'm so happy to be home. We have no rodents or bugs. It creeped me (us) out and we were ready to leave. read more

The setting of my dream wedding. It was absolutely amazing. It's an Inn nestled in the hills around Douglas Lake with the beautiful Smoky Mountains as the view. The lake is pristine. Seriously. Can't tell you how many it sleeps (check the website, yo), but we were able to have a party of up to 120 in the reception hall. We got to rent out the entire Inn for the whole weekend in a money saver package deal. Included in that was every room, some wedding-y stuff (officiant, use of chairs, trellis, kitchens, etc. etc.) and some pontoon boats. It was fabulous The staff was unbelievably courteous, helpful, fun. I loved them. They were there to entertain every request (which I tried to tame, mind you) and were so understanding and just really awesome. I can't say enough. My mother-in-law (my wedding planner) and I interacted mostly with Kim, who is just so sweet, but everyone was great and I just can't say that enough. The setting is gorgeous. Only gripe is the boat dock that seems to be slowly invading the scenery off the deck. However, we were able to salvage just enough to put the trellis in the corner, thereby avoiding any sneaky boats trying to quietly invade my picturesque setting. I am making this sound worse than it is. Not even the dock can compete with the beautiful Smoky Mountain backdrop. Here's my major gripe with the place and it's something you might want to be aware of should you be planning any major event: We had to book the place about a year in advance (advance time changes depending on the time of year, the size of party, etc.), and within that time we had the price increased on us, the "includeds" in the wedding package decreased and/or changed and the number people we were able to sleep in the Inn (mind you we rented the entire thing) decreased (by 8 beds to be exact). This is all well and good (if not severely frustrating), but they didn't tell us these things; we found out at random times when we would call up with questions or to double-check things. This simply screams poor management. I can't imagine there are so many people renting out an entire Inn in Dandridge, TN that they couldn't call us to inform us that, you know, those 8 people we were planning on giving a room to would need to find a hotel somewhere down the street. This sounds just awful, but likely mostly because this is my first bout of venting (I was determined to let nothing about the wedding get me down). Overall, the experience was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone planning a wedding. My caution is that you should just be prepared to be on the ball and really stay in touch with them about their situation. read more

We came here, thanks to a Groupon, and plan on coming back regularly. Even though it rained most of the time, the peace and quiet was so welcome. The rooms was perfectly sized with doors that opened to both the lake and the street. Additionally, there's plenty surrounding this destination, so you don't feel too removed from civilization. If you are looking for a beautiful place to dine, or stay in the Smokey Mountain region and want to avoid the crowds of Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, this is the place. Beautiful inn, restaurant, and marina. Or if you are staying in those two areas and want to get away for a day to a great lake for fishing or swimming or cruising and sightseeing, this is the place. You can rent a 'hot dog' to pull behind the pontoon boat for the kids to ride. You can also rent waverunners, and fishing boats and we found this place to have the most reasonable rates for the pontoons, and possibly the best maintained. They were also the most reponsive, friendliest, and most accomodating. They rent pontoon boats (ours was a 24 footer that was in excellent shape and safely held 12 people with lots of seating---I think for up to 16). If you are fishing, then you want to probably have no more than 6 people as it can get tight quick with casting. The lake easily exceeds depths of 90-100 feet and you can spend all day on it and never see more than a small portion. To say it is gigantic is an understatement. One word of caution---stay away from Douglas dam. It can be a treacherous area. Also stay away from all islands as it can get shallow pretty quickly. If you hit the local Wal-mart or well equipped bait shop, you can also purchase a map of the lake which includes hazardous areas to avoid. The boats come equipped with a very user friendly GPS so getting lost is nearly impossible. They always tell you how far you are away from the marina where you picked up the boat. The entire crew had a great time and we cannot wait to go back. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 2 yr wedding anniversary at the Mountain Harbor Inn. I found a deal on Living Social so we stayed two nights. It was a pretty good deal, but then when we got there we had to pay a $92 resort fee. Not really sure why though. We had one of the smaller rooms, (song of the south) but it was so nice that it didn't bother us one bit. In the room we had a small fridge, sink, all the kitchen supplies we would need a coffee maker and a microwave. Plus they included red roses, a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and bottles of water it was very nice. The bedroom part had a TV, dresser, king size bed and a love seat. The bathroom had a hair dryer, and all the toiletries you would need. On the first night we checked in unpacked and went down for the sunset cruise. It was 5:00 so it was still daylight, but it was pretty cool. They gave us water before we got on the boat. We cruised around the lake for about an hour and got to visit an area called pirates cove. When we got back we went to the dining room for the candlelight desert. I had the cheesecake and hubby had the brownie with ice cream. They were huge! And very delicious! Afterwards we set in the deck and relaxed, it was so wonderful and peaceful. When we woke up the next morning we enjoyed one of the best breakfast buffets we have ever had. Potatoes, bacon, eggs, fried apples, biscuits and gravy. They had more but that's all I ate. Then we rented 2 jet skies for 2 hrs it was about $260 for both. We were going to rent a speed boat as well but after the skies we were tired, but it would have been $140 for 2 hrs I believe. We went on the sunset cruise the second night and they took us to the dam. After that we wanted to go eat so we asked if they would bring our deserts to our room while we were gone and they did. I got the lemon cake which was amazing. All in all the staff is super friendly, the rooms were very clean, the food was great. We will stay here again. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the resort fee. read more

I need to begin this review by stating that I have not stayed at the Mountain Harbor Inn. I am staying at an Airbnb nearby and on our excursions into the surrounding area came across this lovely Inn. We walked around the grounds and spoke with patrons who were staying there and all I can tell you is the place is beautiful, guests we spoke with loved being there, heard rave reviews on the food....we may have to book a return visit to the area just to have the opportunity to enjoy what appears to be a gem. read more

Spent a night for our Anniversary. The room was very nice, and beautiful views. Staff was helpful and friendly, brought our special deserts to our room in the pouring rain. However, not all staff members were wearing masks, eg. the young lady that took us to our room. In addition we sighed up for the free cruise that was offered but were told masks were not required so we declined. I realize being out side on the water is probably low risk but the seating was too close for comfort and we just did not feel it was a safe situation and were very disappointed. Very horrible and racist evening shift lady. We rented a dock there and were taking shelter as it was lightning and thundering under their porch and were trying to finish our dinner but the lady threatened to call the cops on us and made us throw our dinner in the trash and walk in the rain to our cars. We had about 10 people all who were above 60 years of age. Another couple who was there was not told anything but since we were colored we were kicked out of their property. RUDE SERVICE , DO NOT GO HERE... We have used this facility to rent a pontoon boat a few times in the past. We reserved a boat for Father's day with April. There have been severe storms here in Asheville and also in the Lake Douglas area. The morning of the reservation, it was storming hard here and we also consulted online resources and live cams in the Dandridge/ Lake Douglas area which called for severe thunderstorms during the time we were renting. The live cams did show heavy rain and lightning. My wife called and spoke with April who said we would have to drive 2 hrs , and stand in front of her to cancel. We would not cancel by phone even though it was storming and could not take the boat out. She proceeded to hang up on my wife 2 times and was rude and dismissive. A two hour drive from the mountains in a storm just to canel? We reserved by phone, but could not cancel by this way? Then we noticed a full charge for the rental on our credit card statement. We had even asked her to give us a credit for another time, which she refused. We even had a boat breakdown last time we were there and ruined our day, and had to be pulled in, and we never complained missing half of our time there. We have referred many people there for the boat rentals, and facilities. We have never been treated as rudely as we have by April. We will never use their services again and want to warn others not to. read more

I have high standards when it comes to breakfast at places and they surpassed them. They have a brownie/ice cream dessert that is crazy, enough for two people, but each person gets their own if you want. Very good though They have a fire pit on the deck now and have the stuff for smores if you ask. Cons: The water level of the lake during certain months (winter) are a lot lower (check before you go) It is a bit pricey (we got it on a groupon and in addition to the groupon ended having to pay about another $100 with fees and taxes To get Ice you have to get someone at the office to get it for you. make sure you get it before they leave for the night (8PM) The in room hot tub (two of the suites have them) was not really worth it. Overall the stay was enjoyable and I'm glad I went once, but I'm not sure I'd spend the money to go again. Definitely would not go when the lake is lower again. My wife and I did enjoy the quiet of the place at night. sounds of geese and ducks. Since it was quieter season for them, there were some areas that it was obvious they were doing a little maintenance and just had stuff laying out although it didn't really affect out stay. read more

We stayed here for four nights at the end of August 2015, and the owner & staff all treated us better than family. They were so accommodating and helpful, and were willing to fulfill every request we made. Our room (Endless Love) was great, although the GIANT bed was ridiculously high, and we had to use step stools to get in and out of it! The bathroom was our idea of sumptuous living: Jacuzzi tub, nice big shower, dresser for clothes, etc. Our room, the dining room and the entire B&B was spotless. The housekeeping staff even washed our drink cups that we had left in the sink! We got to talk at length and laugh with several staff members, and each one of them were super friendly. The breakfast buffet every morning and dessert buffet every evening were delicious, and several couples that we either met in the dining room or on the nightly boat cruises would gather around the fire pit on the massive deck, and watch the sun set and the moon & stars come out. We would have drinks (bring your own liquor/mixes) and share stories until some of us got sleepy and would toddle off to bed. Douglas Lake is so clean & gorgeous! We rented a pontoon boat for four hours on each of the two days we took it out, and we had an absolute blast. We swam in that pristine warm water, floated on tubes tied to the boat and checked out different coves and channels at our leisure. The sunset cruise every evening was fun, and we met some really friendly couples from all over the U.S. "Where y'all from?" is the meet & greet down South. We went to Pigeon Forge (we dubbed it "Hillbilly Vegas") one day to photograph the crazy strip & all of its charming cheesiness. A couple at the Inn had told us to check out the Titanic museum while there, and although we were hesitant to do so, it turned out to be one of the best museums that we've ever visited. It was so well done and definitely moving. Although we never made it to the Bush's Beans restaurant, we did eat at a fabulous tiny joint just up the road from the Inn called Lakeview Bar-B-Que; a fairly upscale restaurant in Dandridge called Angelo's On The Point that looks out on the lake; and Cowboy's Restaurant that was also near the Inn but doesn't open until 4:00 PM. We skipped dinner the first night we were there after eating the Inn's humongous brownie/ice cream dessert! My God, it was amazingly delicious. We hated leaving the ultra relaxing lake and Mountain Harbor Inn, and we've already decided that we'll most definitely return at the end of summer next year, but will plan on staying longer & taking the boat out more. read more

Boat rental review: VERY friendly and accommodating staff. Boat was in excellent condition and they also rent a ski boat however we opted for the pontoon boat as the ski boat was quite a bit more expensive. It was hassle free, the marina was easily accessible and they only need a credit card and drivers license for the rental. The pontoon was Apx $167 for 4 hours which was reasonable as it included gas. The rental of the tube I thought was a little high at $65. It was a perfect Saturday and very few boats on the lake. Great experience. read more

It's a great looking, clean place to stay on a really nice Lake Douglas but the thing that impressed us the most is how helpful the staff was at the Inn. Everyone who worked there really went out of their way to accommodate us and make it an all around great experience. The suite we stayed in was only $99 (summer-weekdays) and was well worth it. It's even worth the $189 tag on weekends. A good breakfast and evening dessert comes with your stay. We rented a waverunner and a pontoon boat while there and they were very helpful with that as well. (p.s.- if you've never been to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, there's no real reason to go to either. They are hacky tourist traps. Stick to the Mountain Harbor Inn and Lake Douglas.) read more

The boat rental doesn't get better. The staff is friendly and helpful but there are no lengthy lecture or safety courses. They simply toss you the keys, answer questions and send you on your way. The motel rooms are nice but a little dated. The staff was exceptionally friendly. My computer wouldn't get on line, which turned out to be a software glitch on my end. They helped me out anyway. In prime months they book up, both from rooms and boats. So, if you are renting a boat, call ahead. Super nice people. Too bad they don't have a café. But they appear to be incredibly busy with wedding parties and boat rentals. read more

Upon arrival the staff was overwhelmed and at least 5 sets of people were awaiting to be checked in. It was obvious that there was some confusion, and that was impacting the service everyone was receiving. They offer a "sunset cruise" which was at 5PM, even though the sun sets at about 9PM. We went for the "Condo of the Rich and Famous", mainly because it had a full size Hot Tub, that would be fine except for the full size hottub only half way worked ( half of the jets were broken). We reported this to the front desk and they came and looked at it and reported that the bought it used and it was like that when they got it so we had to deal with it this was the only part of our stay that I was truely disappointed by. We did opt to rent Jet Ski's when we were there that was a good experience, everything worked exactly as it was supposed to something I would certainly recommend. We also rented a speed boat on another day, at first they gave us a boat that certainly wasn't speedy (it topped out at 28 MPH via GPS). So we rescheduled for the next day and they got us in a much better boat. The only thing to keep in mind with the boat rentals is that the fuel charge is about equal to the rental fee, we figured out we spent about $25 a gallon on fuel, I found this to be a little high. The condo was fairly nice, you can tell they tried to make it great about 10 years ago, it had a large projection TV with the bulb starting to die, the rooms were decorated very well except for the 19" tube TV's awkwardly mounted on the wall. The "fireplace" was an electric heater, that made a ridiculous noise when you turned it on certainly didn't provide a positive ambiance. The location, and amenities make it so this place could be top notch, I feel like if I went 10 years ago when everything was new it would have been amazing. They just have to look at spending the money on doing the little things.
