After a day driving on the Parkway we stopped for an early dinner on the way home. You order at the counter and they dish your plate. Think cafeteria style. We ordered the two piece, wing and breast. It came with two sides. We both opted for the collard greens and potato wedges. All of it was surprisingly good. The chicken was moist and the two sides were really good. read more

We never tried this place in 13 years and then decided to try on Saturday 6/13/26 on a date date with my husband and it was pretty good and the service was great, However, when we went back this past Saturday 6/20/26 to take our boys ages 17 and 11 with us, they wanted to charge extra just for my youngest son to have a drumstick and tender for his kid meal. You typically get either two drumsticks or two tenders. I asked if he could just have one tender one drumstick... it should've been the same price I thought, but they charge us basically a whole other meal for it. Turns out that our boys didn't care for that place, and it put a sour note in our stomachs on their Customer Service. We won't be back. read more

All aspects of this place are great. The only thing you could say is sometimes the line is out the door. And whoever said the potato wedges were excellent was understating them. read more

Went with my boyfriend to grab lunch. Their staff are very friendly, definition of southern hospitality! Our food came out quick. I had fried chicken legs, sweet potatoes and green beans. Boyfriend had chicken tenders and tater wedges. The wedges are amazing! The chicken was a little dry but that's my only complaint. Everything else was good and tasted fresh. read more

The food was delicious! The staff was friendly and the food was hot and fresh. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and we thoroughly enjoyed all the sides, but the mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, and peach cobbler were particular standouts. Each dish was prepared with care and tasted homemade read more

Have always heard they were great. Decided to give them a try and do not know if it was an off day or what. Banana pudding - no bananas - Peach cobbler- one peach-- spiced apples - no spices - chicken tenders dry and tough even though just came out of fryer supposedly.. potato wedges tasted like raw potatoes..This was a take out order and could not bring the issues up in the restaurant. read more

Wow!! This place is awesome!! My husband and I were referred from a friend on Friday and ended up there Saturday around lunch. We were both blown away with their fried chicken. Hands down the best chicken I have ever eaten! As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with a smile. The man taking our order was very nice and accommodating. We will definitely be back!! Thank you!! read more

I love the efficient assembly line to get your order, packaged quickly. The chicken was good as were the turnip greens, mashed potatoes, rolls, and baked beans. Didn't care for the gravy, very salty. Otherwise, definitely a great local fried chicken spot. Happy to support local businesses. read more

Just moved to Hickory from Asheville, where there is no shortage of good fried chicken. Chicken here was ok but not great. Food is not made to order, but rather served cafeteria style. My chicken breast was on the tough side, not tender. And it was not close to hot. Had been sitting in the counter for a while. I was there just before closing time, and there was a lot of chicken left in the serving counter. Do they throw it away, or save to serve the next day? Gotta say, the mashed potatoes and gravy were great. If this is the best fried chicken in Hickory, then try another town. read more

The chicken is immaculate. I mean it will have you thanking the Lord it's just that amazing. The sides will have you wanting more and the employees are so nice and respectful. I would definitely give it 4 thumbs up but I only have 2! The ambiance is very welcoming especially the decor. I love this place and I would definitely recommend over Chick Fil-a and any other restaurant. (period) that banana pudding is simply soul food heaven. The seasoning is definitely on point. read more

Fresh and hot food for a great price! Glad we found it for when we want fried chicken!

Best chicken and dumplings I've ever had in my life it was savory the dumplings were firm it was simple and left me wishing I had gotten two sides of them. It was super quick and delicious I brought my boyfriend and mother-in-law with me we all three got drinks and fried chicken and two sides everybody ate everything on their plates my mother-in-law said that was the best Brunswick stew she has ever had will be going back to this place and no, the chicken was not greasy. read more

The best service, best non greasy chicken in the area. Their side of greens , sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese is so good! Love MFC on Hwy 70 Hickory! read more

Love the potato wedges and chicken but they need to trim the feathers ........................................

Best fried chicken in the area...ordered take out family meal. Counter service was quick. Workers were very nice... grinding away.

If you like your salt with a side of chicken, then this is for you. So salty! Old tasting oil. Instant mashed potatoes and jarred gravy. They scooped out their sides with an ice cream scoop and throw it on a foam plate like they are slopping the hogs. Dirty inside with the floor full of dirty napkins, straws etc. chicken was tough as well. Never again-awful. read more

Great chicken and not greasy and Greens wedges and the sweet potatoes are so awesome read more

When we arrived the girl at the counter was very rude and impatient. It was a do it yourself order and sit situation, but most people were ordering to go, so we were not sure what to do. Every time we asked a question she answered very rudely and so quickly with an accent it was very hard to understand. When asked again, she got even more rude. By the time we got it all figured out we were not happy we drove an hour to have a nice dinner. Not only were the counter people rude, the customers were rude to. If you don't know what the program is, don't go or you will be treated poorly. The food was ok. read more

This is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. Really spectacular breading, juicy, and tender. All of the sides I've tried so far are just like grandmaw used to make them. Mashed potatoes and gravy, turnip greens, black eyed peas, and pinto beans have all been outstanding. You really get bang for your buck here also. You can get a 3 piece plate(2 dark 1 white meat) two sides, and a roll for $7. They are extremely fast for lunch as well. Plus they have a drive through. I'll be back for sure many times. read more

Best Air Fried Chicken in Hickory. One of my favorite places to eat. Great team and service. Highly recommended and they have daily specials as well. read more

This is on my way home so I thought I would try it. The KFC just doesnt do it for us anymore. The chicken had no seasoning , the gravy was nasty and the coleslaw no taste and too fine. The mashed pot were really good. I wont stop here again read more

I love fried chicken but it's hard to get greaseless fried chicken...always clean inside and staff always friendly

Mountain Fried Chicken is our favorite! In addition to tasty non-greasy chicken, they have a great variety of awesome side dishes.

Fix your hours. So annoying to drive here and it's closed ... update your customers. Thanks.

Tasty, crispy yet tender fried chicken and home cooked flavored vegetables. We will be back again soon.

Chicken is just the beginning. They have a large assortment of country style vegetables and a couple of deserts. Fried flounder with all the fixens. Oh, did I tell you it was cheap, fast and friendly? Great place in Southwest Hickory. Try it. read more

Fast service but the food is unseasoned. It's definitely not greasy like the sign says but that's what fried chicken is all about. Veggies taste straight from the can. read more

Nice clean place for a quick lunch. They have great fried chicken and an assortment of side dishes to satisfy about anyone. The prices are good, the place is clean and the food is good. I would go back! read more

This place is not good all of their side dishes are either instant or store bought like from MDI or IFH the chicken was good but not worth the return visit the macaroni and cheese confused me it was more like macaroni and tomatoes with a hint of cheese and a ton of garlic it was bad the dog wouldn't even eat it we won't be going back and it was $17 for a one piece meal and a two-piece meal combined read more

I tried this today and was really impressed. To me, this was better than KFC. It wasn't greasy or slimy the way other chicken places can turn out. Something I don't see around here is "Broasted" chicken which was common up in Indiana. This chicken is comparatively the same as Broasted and i'm glad to have found this place because i've missed the Broasted chicken! Price was good too. The two meals we bought was actually enough for three adults and was priced below similar meals at other chicken places. If you are tired of the greasy chicken from other places, give this a try. Oh and they do have a good variety of sides as well. read more
