I didn't get to buy anything but it was a nice place to look around and appreciate local artists. There was a large selection of different types of art... paint, ceramic, wire, wood, granite and even a section from special needs children. One of the many reasons I love visiting small areas like Lake Arrowhead, is due to the community that you don't get from many other places in California. Small communities have more mom and pop places to visit and have more to do with their community than bigger city places I believe. I Just happened to stop by a place to have a beer with my brother-in-law for his birthday (I am not a beer drinker at all but it was my brother-in-law birthday so I gave it a go) we sat down at the bar with a number of other people. Sitting next to us was an older gentleman and we all started talking. Come to find out this gentleman that we were speaking with is a local photographer by the name of Joel Hensler. Very kind and soft spoken gentleman, that told us about Mountain Arts Network. They are home to a lot of the local art talent there in Lake Arrowhead. Paintings, photography, woodworking and many other types of arts. One thing I love is to find places such as this to pick up something that came from the community I visited. I feel it speaks more to me than getting something from a nick knack shop. Getting something from here and places like it, makes me feel like I'm giving back to the community by supporting local artists such as Joel Hensler. Which I bought two photos of Joel Hensler while shopping here. If you are visiting and want to pick up something unique and speaks volume to where you visited, than this right here is the place to go. Good art work by the locals. My beef is with the board who wouldn't accept a neighbor's art work. Not much of an explanation was given. This artist died last year, and last month I got to see his public display artwork in San Jose. A bus stop, a restaurant, an Asian market still have his art work displayed for all of us to see. The Day of the Dead/Cinco De Mayo parades still display his huge skeletons and massive paper mache heads every year. I have seen all of his other work. They would have been a welcome addition to this museum. read more

I recently tried to apply for membership in the MAN Gallery. I was quickly told I was not eligible because I use Photoshop as a tool for my artwork. Joyce Johnson, the woman representing the gallery, said the MAN artists had voted to ban digital art. I was genuinely surprised by this discrimination. Knowing that most photographers use Photoshop, I asked her "why could MAN photographers use a computer and artists can't?" She answered this question by hanging up on me. I later emailed Pat Davis (the president) and questioned her about this discrimination and double standards. Here is part of her reply: "I was present at the meeting when digital art was discussed and the members unanimously votes to exclude digital art from the Gallery." I've talked with a few of the MAN artists and I find it extremely hard to believe they would discriminate against a fellow artist. Is it possible that there are some back room voting irregularities going on? If this ban was based on race, gender or religion, this gallery would be in deep trouble. Artists aren't a protected glass so those working with modern techniques have to suffer this injustice. I sincerely believe that the MAN Gallery would benefit from new leadership that embraces diversity and freedom of expression. read more

Love this art gallery. However, called and got recording open from 10:00 to 6:00. Only problem they are open Friday Saturday and Sunday. Sorry I missed them on Monday. Think they might mention days they are open on their recoding. read more

Interesting gallery featuring a host of local artists. Wilderness and "naturalist" art predominates. Jewelry, glass, accessories, fine art photos etc. Prices are surprisingly modest. Very friendly owner with a contagious interest in sharing and talking about art. read more

I absolutely loved this place. It's a little shop with crafts all made by local artists and staffed by the artists themselves. I could spend a whole day there. Everything is unique and amazingly inexpensive. Beautiful beaded necklace and earring sets for $30. I just can;'t say enough - I would make the trip from Orange County to Lake Arrowhead just to go there again. read more

I live along the mountain, in Running Springs, and fancy myself as an artist, so I like to drop in to the gallery whenever I'm in Lake Arrowhead, and see what's new. One reviewer here complained that the pictures are mountain-themed, (bears, lakes, cabins, trees), but I'd say that there is much more than that. And if some of the artists know that tourists will want something like that to take home as a reminder of a mountain holiday, what of it? Much of the work is of a very high quality, some is not local-themed at all, and if you want something else, jolly-well go and buy some art supplies, and get painting yourself. One day, I had a conversation with one of the artists in the gallery, and he gave me a drawing tutorial right there and then, in my sketchbook, and then another at his home, for free. Now I don't think that this is something you can expect from all the artists who man the front desk at Mountain Arts, but I certainly appreciated it. I also sent an appreciative email to another chap who had drawn a lovely ink portrait of Son House, and he was kind enough to reply. Considering that the gallery sells original art, rather than the twee, sloganeering tat that you'll find at Hobby Lobby, nobody is charging usurious prices. You can spend a couple of hundred dollars and take home a spiffing bit of art that nobody else will ever own. Just don't rub your finger all over the canvas while you're browsing at the gallery, eh? Someone will want to buy it after you've left your paw-prints on it. read more

This gallery has to be one of your stops when you visit Lake Arrowhead. The local talent has produced some incredible works of art in all different mediums. Most items are an excellent bargain because it is obvious that this gallery is a labor of love for the artists. Everything here is made by locals. Most of the works are very reasonably priced. There were beautiful gourds for 60 and some great glass/wood artwork for 35.Some beautiful handmade jewelry under 30. There are always artists on hand to tell you all about their own work and their friends' work too. read more

Greame Gale is amazing!! He custom made the coolest shadow box frame for me. I recommend him to anyone who is looking for amazing and creative woodwork. He also made an amazing "hat tree" for our shop that gets plenty of compliments and attention. Greame is a very talented artist and I will definitely work with him again!! read more
