JT is incredibly kind and well-intentioned, but the therapy felt one-dimensional. Sessions largely focused on validating feelings without providing structure, tools, challenge, or actionable guidance - all of which I repeatedly asked for. Given that this therapy was priced at the higher end of what we've seen, we expected a much deeper level of engagement and clinical depth. I consistently expressed that I did not feel understood, and that concern never felt meaningfully explored. The turning point came when JT continued asking the same questions and implied that I wasn't going deep enough. When I asked him to take a different approach and ask more thoughtful probing questions, he responded by asking me what I thought he should ask instead. That felt backwards. If he is the trained professional, I don't believe it should be my responsibility to determine how we get deeper in session. He also seemed dismissive of modalities like the Gottman Method and Nonviolent Communication, as well as the self-work I was doing independently. Despite repeatedly asking for homework or guidance between sessions, none was provided. We were looking for stronger direction and more skill-based, structured work, which is why we chose to move on. We're very happy with our new therapist, who also practices EFT but brings a broader, more versatile approach rather than relying on a singular method.

As cliché as it sounds, I can honestly say that working with Lindsay changed my life. Who am I…read morekidding? With the tools and insight she provided over our 18 months working together, she's continuing to change my life. I sought out counseling services when life felt unbearably bleak, difficult, and dark. I came in, grasping for control and hoping for a quick fix, which in hindsight is utterly laughable. I think if I knew how much baggage I needed to unpack and how much "inside" work it would take, I never would have begun the process, but with Lindsay's gentle and steadfast guidance, I was slowly but surely able to pull myself out of the weeds. With her help (and a lot of healthy work), I've found my voice and have begun to thrive in a visceral, sustainable and powerful manner- what a gift she has given me! Lindsay is thorough, receptive, non-judgmental, open to talking about therapy within therapy (so meta, I know), insightful, funny, wise, kind, gentle yet straightforward, and very easy to talk to. She questioned and helped me dig when I needed to be pushed and gave me space when she recognized that I needed to come to my own conclusions. The way she approaches counseling is thoughtful and intentional, but never calculated, which is invaluable. Overall, all I can say is this: Lindsay led me through a very challenging period of my life and for that I will forever be grateful. I've been through my fair share of counseling in the past with poor results- I'm so thankful for this positive experience to fall back on as needed. If you're feeling lost, trapped, stuck, like you're drowning...do yourself (and your loved ones!) a solid: go see Lindsay, commit to doing the work, and stick with it, even when it get's hard. People are messy, life is hard, but she's one of the great ones out there.

The Colorado Wellness Center for Girls in Denver (Wheat Ridge specifically) is a unique down to…read moreearth place where girls who are struggling, in all sorts of manners, can find a safe place to begin to work on and celebrate the self. I was amazed at what a warm, at home environment this center offers to young women. Amenities include: a welcoming state of the art kitchen with meals made on site; An incredible classroom with online schooling to help girls get back on track with grades (and each girl gets her own computer set up); Space to spread out for things like reading in the library, laughter yoga, art making, specialty classes, bungee type exercises and more. Its definitely not a residential place, so no bars, locked units or anything like that. I believe it is a closed facility (girls and staff safely locked/secured during their school day) and open 8:30a to 3:30a allowing girls to still have a social and family life outside of the Center. CWCG is a very new, innovative and non-traditional take to helping Colorado's adolescent population. For mental health purposes there are 2 therapists onsite, one focusing on making sure the families are involved too which is so great to see. The Center functions on 6 ambitious domains of wellness such as emotional, psychological, relational, nutritional, physical and educational so all that makes a girl unique is celebrated. The staff is terrifically dedicated to helping girls thrive and are a welcoming presence from the moment you walk in the door. These women and men bring a plethora of knowledge to the table for helping girls spanning from personal experience raising teen girls to nutritional and educational backgrounds to social work and psychotherapy expertise. They genuinely care about each girls well being, the struggles that bring her to the center and helping her figure out how to process and move to the next step. I believe that supporting and genuinely respecting our female friends to be strong, nurturing goddess- happy girls and women only strengthens the culture in which we live.
