You can do different sessions, lead or open. I did a lead session with Monika. After setting an intention, she took us through 2 rounds of 10 minute sauna, then 2 minute cold plunge. A dry 210, it was hot. We were taken through 3 rounds of breathing sessions, starting slow then fast. A great time to let all your anxiety and stress pour out of your body. After a quick rinse, we lowered into ice cold water. Long, slow breathes to help your body relax and recover. Don't forget to give that scream release! After the 2 round of sauna/ plunge, Monika took us back into the sauna for one last session. 3 different rounds of scented water were poured on the hot stones while Monika used a towel to deliver heat bombs that'll definitely wake you up! The towel show alone was worth price of admission. I came with anxiety from the work week and having to sit through Mt P traffic and left with a sense of calm and purpose. Thank you Monika and Mindzero!

We were led by David, and Started the session laying on heated mats in a dark room. This was a great way to begin relaxing. Then, David told us what to expect, which was a 10 minute sauna session (200 degrees), then a 2 minute cold plunge, then another sauna session, the second cold plunge, and finally the last sauna session. While in the first sauna session, we talked about gratitude and people were welcome to share things they were grateful for. Before the session, my legs and back were sore. My body felt much better after the session. I left feeling relaxed, and my body felt amazing. It was also a community vibe, as we shared things we're grateful for together in the sauna, held hands in the cold pool together, laughing and even crying together. I can't wait to go back!

The instructor was really nice and it was easy to follow. This was one of the most challenging workouts I've done in a long time! I love HyLo for the showers alone. The women's shower is a full room, with marble walls, and all the accoutrements you'd need--soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, towels, and even a scale. My only complaint is that they don't have makeup remover or any hair products in the bathroom when I'm getting ready after my workout, but I just bring what I need from home. The HY classes really work you in the cardio department. They all use a combination of spin bikes, rowing machines, free weights / kettlebells, ropes, TRX things (idk what they're called), and body weight to perform a lot of exercises in a short period of time with a lot of energy. Similar to what I assume some crossfit classes include. The LO classes use a special board to use your body weight and weighted poles or rubber bands to strengthen your body using your own body weight. This is most similar to pilates, barre, or yoga. All of which I'm terrible at, as I have the upper body strength of a newborn baby. Both classes totally kick my butt and make me feel like I've really worked my body hard! Highly recommend!

We selected this day for my first time (read: I am super out-of-shape, do not go to the gym, etc.) because it was low on cardio, focused on different stations of strength-based work, and easy to be modified. For example, if you move to a station where you are to lift weights, you could select 10 pound weights or 30 (or whatever) that is best suited for your needs. I wasn't nervous about coming because I've been to gyms of similar formats before. I was weary of embarrassing my friend in front of her other friends and coaches due to my lack of physical ability, but she assured me that no one would be judgmental and everyone would be encouraging. She was exactly right. Even better, no one seemed to give a rat's ass about what I was doing. And I mean that in a positive way. How nice to be able to work out and not feel like anyone is looking at you. That said, the coaches did keep an eye on me, to make sure I was doing the correct format or to offer me tips and modifications when it was obvious I needed it. I really enjoyed training at F45 this week, and I wish I lived in town so I could go back more often. I might want to check with the facility to see if they offer packages where you can purchase like a 10-class pass or something, because then I could join my friend when I visit from out of town or am home for holidays. I highly encourage anyone in Mount Pleasant or who lives in the area of an F45 to try out a class. You will not regret it!

Pleasant as well as Awendaw, Daniel Island, and the Isle of Palms. The classes here are similar to the South Mt. Pleasant Pure Barre by Whole Foods. However, this location features class times like 5:15 AM for those who wake up early (or can't sleep). There's also a 6:15 PM class many afternoons, which is convenient for those who prefer to exercise after work. Pure Barre classes are a great experience. Instructors greet you by name and encourage you during the class. The workouts are tough, but by the end, you feel accomplished and proud- and the next day, you'll feel SORE. It's a very positive environment, as exercise should be. One of my favorite things about Pure Barre is that you don't get super sweaty during the workouts, so you can run errands or grab a bite afterwards. You sweat some, but you won't have to put down towels on the car seats to drive home. Parking is plentiful and easy in the shopping center, and you're super close to stores like Walmart and post-workout snacks (Tropical Smoothie, East Bay Deli, Starbucks). If you're looking to shake up your workout routine and add an air conditioned option in the summer heat, I'd definitely recommend Pure Barre.

Because it's only 30-minutes, it's convenient to get to 6-days a week- in and out. Closed Sunday. Location? Town Center, Mt. Pleasant by Lowe's. Plenty of parking, convenient location. Amazing people- down to earth. Men and women, ages teens to 70s. Go at your own pace. Starting out I did a 6-week challenge for $67- great deal- where I lost weight and toned up almost immediately. It's a lot of body weight exercises, but also weights, the ropes, TRX, kettle bells, medicine balls, ....as great music plays you go station to station, they just tell you what to do. I need that- I tried planet fitness and mostly went tanning there- ha! I was tired of watching tv on a treadmill. I started to crave the FBBC workout every day. I joined for $157/month. It was a good investment, and I also went every day because I wanted to know it was money well spent. Results were comprehensive. I slept the best I've ever slept, had the energy to keep up- no- set a new, faster pace of life. Social environment- you start seeing the same people every day so you make acquaintances. The trainers know your name, play great music, host social events like beach workout followed by Mex 1 on Sullivan's Island every few Saturdays in the summer. They frequently run additional challenges to kick it up a notch. We fund raise for different charities, set goals as a group and are called the FitFam. I don't do social media, but joined their private group on Facebook which Daniel updates frequently, daily, so you stay tuned. It really becomes your lifestyle. The wellness improvement of my mind was the best part. - its a lifestyle, you challenge yourself, have fun. And only 30 min meant I could go on my lunch break and not be too sweaty going back to work. There are no showers, no locker rooms, no childcare - no bells and whistles and I realized you don't need those things. The bathrooms are large and clean enough to change, you set your stuff on a bench, and many people bring their (well-behaved) kids (in the car seat or to sit and cheer you on on the sidelines.) It's another good thing about 30 min. You can get your child to sit still for a half hour much easier than 45-60. I have nothing but good things to say. If you balk at the price, I hope I explained why I think it's worth it. Because it works - proof is in the pudding.
