Come back when one of the young women owners are there. We went for holiday gift shopping, knowing we'd be spending a chunk of money and getting something recipients appreciated but ended up putting everything down and leaving after enduring this woman's inane LOUD chattering to every person who walked in the store. Not only was her stupid chatter annoying, she argued with us about never having carried an item we know we purchased there! We lived in the Deep South for nearly 30 years and never experienced an encounter that felt like such an inauthentic put-on of 'southern charm.' Sorry Duncan &York. We love the store but this year there won't be anything from your store under our Christmas tree.

There's a nice combination of local, handmade and well-known brands and you really have to go through the store a couple of times to truly appreciate everything they have to offer. Their greeting card collection is fantastic - everything from sweet to cheeky to sarcastic! You can find something for literally anyone thanks to their diverse collection of hip and modern items. Make sure to check out the sticker table at the register!!

We were all excited to check this honey store out. In the back they have a very cool tasting table. There are over ten different kinds of honey to try. I loved that you could taste test things before making purchases. It was awesome to see how different each one tasted. My group and I had a blast here. They had everything from bottles of honey, honey sticks, bee pollen, honey supplies, and more. I ended up buying a beautiful bottle of the sourwood and a few honey sticks in fireweed and meadowfoam. The honey is both local and from other states too! The staff is beyond friendly. I highly recommend making a stop to check this charming shop out.

And the Asheville Bee Charmer continues to be an amazing resource and showcase of some of the best the gals have to offer. So many delicious honey varietals to choose from! They have their own locally sourced honey including Sourwood and Wildflower, and some sourced varieties from out of state, including Tupelo from Florida and the Chicory and Meadowfoam from the Pacific NW. They even carry Lehua from Hawaii and Fireweed from Alaska! There's also infused flavors like coffee, ghost pepper, chai, lavender, vanilla bean, and more. And the best part? You can try them all! That was my favorite part of visiting, of course, and the staff was very kind and generous with us. We didn't just sample and leave though! We ended up buying more than a few jars to take home to us and to my mom. Speaking of gifts, they also have some really cute bee themed housewares, plus skin care, candles, and other products made from bee's wax. There are two locations in downtown Asheville and somehow it still doesn't seem like enough! We found that both carry the same items, however, so if you've been to one you might not need to hit the other one. Unless you're like me and just want to keep the honey party going!

The shop is filled with home goods, ornaments and Biltmore related items but the whole atmosphere came off as quite pretentious to me and the prices reflected that. I did find an adorable little plushie gargoyle that I thought my niece would love but based on my overall experience, I decided against spending any of my hard-earned money here. The staff was technically welcoming but not in a warm or genuine way. I felt like I was being more closely observed than assisted and the older, stiffer employees created an uncomfortable environment. After looking around upstairs, I came down and started perusing the shelves but as soon as I looked up from what I was doing and a staff member saw me she said " your husband is in the restroom". I don't know if that comes off as weird in writing as it felt in person. I didn't ask where my husband was and I wasn't looking for him. I don't know if it was because he was the only non-white person I saw while we were there, but it didn't give the feeling that they were trying to be helpful. The shop is somewhat visually appealing but overpriced overall and definitely lacking the warmth that would make it a place I would ever return to.

It's larger than it appears from the outside with a full loft upstairs loaded, when we were there in Aug 2023, with sale items. They have a small area with wines from the winery, decor and housewares, clothing, jewelry, and various other seasonal items like tea cups, Christmas decor and tableware, and some outdoor clothing and hats. We had a great time inside browsing and I found a cute little Halloween gnome for 50% off. Ladies inside were friendly and chatty while we shopped.

I stopped by a few days ago, pulled in by the Tshirts in the window. This is predominately what is sold, walls and shelves and racks full of them. As I was browsing, and out of town visiter stepped up to the counter to ask, politely, whether he carried any Kamala Tshirts. The question set him off into a yelling monologue about how he doesn't care about politics, and he doesn't want to hear anyone coming into his store making comments about anyone they don't like and telling him what to sell. He was in fact so wound up that he pulled off the mask that he was wearing to stand up and spew spittle as she tried to defend herself, not rudely, but yes, she continued to defend herself, as he wouldn't let her get a word in. At this point, when it had escalated to the point where she was cowering and I felt like he was going to pull a baseball bat out, I walked up and said exactly 3 words, not specifically directly at either; "in all fairness". This made him turn on me and direct his fury. I managed to squeeze in that she had not mentioned that he could carry shirts representing both sides over his yelling. At this point, a few people browsing in the store came up to stare at him, as well as a few coming in, who backed up. I am not exaggerating this story, though it sounds like it couldn't possibly have been that bad. He not only ruined someone's day, but represented as a nasty town. There are plenty of other shops with welcoming staff and wonderful goods, so I highly recommend that you avoid this place.
