I just moved to Baltimore from SF, and before you ask why with that look of "you must not have a very good work/life balance" let me first finish my little story about this wonderful, efficient MVA -- because when I say that it was wham bam thank you ma'am, in at 8:30 and out by 9:30 with a new title, registration, and driver's license, I don't want you to go away thinking there was any lack of tenderness in the process, or that the subtler details were neglected in the execution of this little quickie. For example, I knew the getting-to-know-you stage was over when I was gently but firmly transferred from registration to the licensing department, bypassing the line. And I realize now that I must have been told about Alana Noelle, a certain madam's cute, captivating seven month old daughter because after all, who but a loving mother can we trust to query us about the availability of our most intimate organs? read more

Almost 5 hours to get one license renewed. Really? Sitting and waiting for ones number to be called is fascinating because you see molasses moving. Thee were 5 counters. One counter was moving about 3 people for everyone one that the other four counters were moving through. I pointed this out to my son and we monitored. We were finally called to the one fast efficient counter and greeted with a smile and I commented to her how fast she was moving compared to the other counters. She pleasantly commented that some people want to work and others do not. I asked if she got grief from her colleagues and she said they were not happy with her and accused her of being a "rate buster". So I would give her 5 stars but I give the total operation 1 star. read more

I surely didn't think 29 people would already be in line at 730 and they don't open until 830. Let's see how friendly and quick things will be once we get inside. I have to say the workers here did not have any bad attitudes. The process took some time because my son had to take his permit test. We received a number and had to wait for it to come up on the screen. Once we got to the desk they pretty much checked you in and then you were allowed to go and take the test. Lets just say that my child came out smiling because he passed the driving permit test. After coming out of the test room you had to wait for your number to appear on the screen once again. This time when you arrived at the desk you were picking up your actual driving permit. My son was turning 18 on the very next day so he was able to register to vote. This was not a bad experience at all. I will have to say thumbs up. MVA has come along way. read more

So here I am for the second time at this mva trying to update my address on my drivers license. The first time I came here was on Saturday and BOY what a mistake that was. This place was packed before the doors opened. NEVER AGAIN will I do that! Worst part is I never got my address changed because of some technical issue. So now I decided to take the day off and come during the week in the morning. It's not as packed as much but service could be better and quicker. I just walked into the DMV and thought by leaving early I would have a chance just to renew my Maryland State ID and was directed to a kinko self service machine and stood in line from 9:30 to 12 noon only to have the machine reject my request then I had to get a number Guess what another wait 1 hour and a half with the technology we have today DMV should be a breeze unfortunately that's not the case. read more

My son had an appointment at 10:30am for his driver's license and we had to wait in one line after another...finally, he was able to drive at 1:30pm and passed his test. We got out of there after 3:00 pm because we were told that everyone was at lunch...REALLY! The people were rude and lacked basic common sense. My request to the Management (if there is any), would be to please teach these people some manners and customer service skills. It is hard to believe that our tax dollars go to pay these idiots...pathetic!!!!! read more

The worst place to get your MVA stuff done. Agent(particularly from window 3 to 13) just talk talk and talk among themselves. They don't do piece of sht work and takes forever to call the next number. Unless agents. Don't go here. read more

The MVA is an up tight government orginization that is far too specific in the lisence test. to start you must wait in miles of lines which can sometimes take hours and the service is terrible. the people there cant find thier butt with both hands. specifically the drivers lisence test. I am a great driver as are many of you reading this. you obey the speed limit, stop signs and red lights. but the MVA thinks you need to stop before a stop sign 20 feet behind it and must go within 3 mph + or - the speedlimit. if you accidentally cross the stop line by a quarter of an inch you fail. if you are turning and cant see left to right for whatever reason bushes, political campaign signs which are strategically placed to block view and induce car accidents, and pull ahead of the stop sign you fail. if you run a YELLOW light and its too late to stop because you will skid into the midde of the intersection and burn out and wreck the car so you decide to run the YELLOW light before its red you fail. the off road course where they make you park is mentally more difficult to drive. its not like a normal road because there are no other cars posing a threat to you so mentally driving is different and it is easy to mess up. I backed into my parking space and took a hand off the wheel to put it on the seat behind me so i could back up straight and not lopsided because thats how everyone who drives backs up. then i pulled foreward turned and stopped the vehicle completely at a stop sign. the spedometer said 0 and the car was stopped so i immediately continued since i was on the off road course. i continued around the corner was told to put the car in park and was told i failed. i took off work to wait 45 min and then drive for 5. i have taken off work 3 times for this bullsh*t test. i drive a lot too with my permit. i drive in the baltimore city i mean during rush hour and in the country on tiny 1 lane roads and anywhere you can drive of your permit you name it ive done it. ive driven ram 3500 trucks, suvs, pruis, cadillac, minivans, stick mazda. not to brag but just to get my point across the mva needs to make the drivers test more realistic. so what if i crossed the stop line in 1 out of 100 stops. so i got a 99% good stop record but nope 99% is failure. read more

This place is terrible. Went for registration and tags. My gosh the ladies have absolutely no respect for customers. They were talking about home and their mom's cookies. The lady in door 11 didn't even look my face once she hold my docs. When I asked for correction of my address she rudely said "I didn't do it . You go back and wait". She was staring me angrily once I left her door. Jesus Christ these women are hell on earth. No hello, no thank you, no good bye. Then I was moved to door 13 (I guess) after ages. Another fat butt woman they called was supervisor dealt me with absolutely no response. I asked her three times "Maa'm what happens if my temporary tags expires and I still didn't get Maryland license?" Three times and I gave up after she didn't even bother to see my face. Then I was rudely told to seat back again and she'll call me once my turn comes. To my surprise, she left the venue with 1 kg of Macdonland's . I thought I would never make it but luckily then I was transferred to a white guy. The only guy in the doors I could see. At least he was smiling , saying hello and dealing with my problems seriously. He didn't take more than five minutes to sort out my work and I moved out from MVA with so much frustrations and anger. The ladies are absolutely hell on earth. They were talking, talking ignoring customers and showing attitude. I couldn't believe they are paid taxpayers money. read more

I wish there was a lower rating available. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a government agency. Truly a disgrace. The staff, particularly a Ms. Harrington, were so rude to me, did not even let me ask questions, barked orders at me, made unnecessary and improper, exaggerated displays of exasperation and impatience when I tried to respond to her orders or try to explain something to her. When I explained that my title had been sent directly from the bank, she quickly informed me that they did not even have it. I asked her to check with her supervisor and all of a sudden she magically produced it from an electronic database. She still couldn't help me, though, because I was apparently missing some additional paperwork. When I tried to ask her to repeat herself or explain more clearly, she got more aggressive and frustrated. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she told me she WAS a supervisor but she would get ANOTHER supervisor. The other supervisor was a little more professional but when I asked her if she could write down exactly what I needed she looked disgusted and said, "You can write it down yourself." Not even willing to offer a shred of customer service. Reregistering your car is complicated to someone unfamiliar with the process and the employees at this MVA were no help at all.
