Jakory, Josh and Jalen showed up 15 mins early and went right to work. They were polite, professional, and careful with our stuff. They were even chill with our slight disorganization. The movers arrived on time. I reserved two movers but three arrived. I asked and was told I would not have to pay extra for the extra mover. It was soon clear why three were brought instead of two. Two of the three guys were tired out. This was around 8:30am. It ended up taking longer for these guys to move me than it had taken two guys to move me two years ago (Two Men and a Truck). I pitched in to hurry things along because they guys got even slower toward the end. These guys also did not know how to load a truck. My furniture was not properly secured and most items were scratched or dented. The liability waiver I signed stated that Motivated Movers are not responsible for damage to pressboard furniture, and most of the damaged furniture I complained about is pressboard furniture. I called after the move and was asked to text photos. I did so with in the required 48 hours but never received a response (two weeks has passed). read more

This was my first time using this group for a move. The two gentleman who came - Cole and Dee - were very professional. After our initial walk through to see what all they would be handling, they took time to load the truck efficiently to get the most in that we could and they padded well to prevent damage or rubbing between my antique wood items. These gentleman were great to work with. Their customer service skills went above and beyond. I will be recommending this company, and these 2 movers specifically, to anyone who asks. Terrible company. -Arrived almost 7 hours late. -My furniture was damaged (entire corners of brand new furniture chipped off). -They broke an enormous (3ft by 4 ft) piece of wall decor that I paid $200 for on sale (from $400) in half. -Treated me with disrespect. Dana called the day after my move-in to get a date to "send a someone over to see if anything could be repaired" - I told them I'd be gone for 2 weeks and a follow up day to call me. They never did. When I contacted them they played dumb and acted as if they never made such a call and accused me of trying to pull a fast one on their company. DO NOT USE MOTIVATED MOVERS- especially if you're a college student - they will treat you with absolute disrespect and try to squeeze as much money out of you as possible for shoddy work ethic. Hire your friends. Invent a magic carpet that can move your stuff...do ANTHING but hire these scam artists. I know someone in the office at Motivated Movers has attempted to remove my reviews before so -- Dana, Jeff, anyone from the MM office in Tuscaloosa - I WILL NOT STOP REVIEWING MY CRAPPY EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR COMPANY. You didn't fix what you broke, you treated me horribly, and you lied to my father, the man who paid $1000 to get my stuff broken and damaged and other potential customers will know about it. read more

This company was able to schedule me in with a 4 day notice! The prices are great!!! Had two awesome movers by the name of Matt and Marvin! They loaded me up within 3 hours an did a great job packing the container!!!!! I definitely recommend this company and these two movers to everyone!!!! read more

Where do I even begin with this company? Motivated Movers were late to our consultation which should have been a warning sign. They were late on our moving day and underestimated the time it would take for them to load the truck, putting us even more behind schedule. We still had an 800 mile drive ahead of us that day. Unloading was a complete nightmare. Jeff, the owner, and another mover were assigned to unload us after they drove the truck to our new city. Jeff complained of the heat and body aches and completely stopped working two hours into the move. His excuse was that we gave him false information and, as a result, got a better quote. (We were asked by another employee how many flights of stairs they had to climb. We told him three flights. That doesn't mean we were on the third floor. Apparently, we were quoted at a third floor rate when Motivated Movers should have figured out that three flights meant we were on the fourth floor.) We paid two people to help us move and instead, we were left with one mover along with my husband to unload the truck. Jeff stayed on the truck and directed how the truck should be unloaded while talking on his cell phone arranging other moves. We started unloading at 2pm and the truck was not empty until 9:30pm. My husband moved at least one-third of the boxes himself which was more than Jeff moved and considering the cost of the move, my husband should not have had to move much at all. If my husband had not helped, the move would not have been completed until the early morning. Many of the boxes that were marked "Fragile" were turned on their sides and placed on the bottom of the stacks under boxes of books which resulted in them being severely dented. The contents of the boxes marked "Fragile" included our wedding china, wine glasses, and irreplaceable breakable items. We also had a bookcase that was broken but it would not have been worth the hassle to get compensated for it. I really hope more people review Motivated Movers before using them. I cannot believe this company is still in business with the way our move was handled. I understand that the movers are students and have a life outside of work but if I have a scheduled appointment, I expect for them to show up on time. I've had better luck hiring friends to help move me than I did hiring a "professional" company. We hired a moving company so we didn't have to do the moving ourselves. I'm sure that there are a number of other companies in Tuscaloosa that will work more efficiently for a fair price. Save your money and go with another company! read more

Would not recommend this company! We moved out of state and our washer is all dented in and not usable. They offered .60 per pound to compensate. Which is nothing considering it's $1000 washer. The guy is extremely rude and not professional in Tuscaloosa. Very big disappointment! read more

Motivated Movers was absolutely great to work with. I had to change the move date several times and they were courteous and helpful with these changes. They called the day before the move to confirm all the move information so I knew they had it right. The two guys who did the move were awesome. They carefully wrapped and moved everything in a friendly and professional manner. The price was exactly as quoted so no surprises. I couldn't have been happier with their service. Had a scheduled appointment for Saturday 3/16/19 between 2-4, movers didn't show up or call. Manager called Monday 3/18/19 morning and made an excuse saying the drivers said they called and came by, which was a lie. When the drivers actually quit!! He offered $5 off a hour. The movers are slow and lazy, extending time for extra money. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. read more

DO NOT make the same mistake we did. Damaged multiple items. We had to move 4 truck loads from our house that they left behind. How do you miss a sewing machine? I will never use this company again! They move was scheduled for 5pm and they truck showed up at 7pm. I had one room to move and a washer and dryer. It took them more than 2 hours to do this and when I approached the driver about time and how slowly they were moving, his response was very ugly. I had to help move boxes myself . Boxes were placed were ever they wanted instead of were I requested. The amount of stuff I had to move should not have taken 3 men over 2 hours. I left a message for the manager and never received a call back. Do not use this company. read more

I did not have a bad experience at all with Motivated Movers. I live outside of the Tuscaloosa area and hired them to move some stuff of mine out of two houses to another house (7 miles apart) down here in Perry County. They did inform me that I would be charged from them leaving Tuscaloosa to them arriving back in Tuscaloosa and I live almost an hour away. I had an antique piano and two antique beds and they were very careful with them. I was impressed with their speed and determination to get the job done as fast as possible, even after we discovered that they couldn't drive the truck all the way up to my new house because of low power lines. They ended up having to walk my stuff (including the piano!!) a good 40 yards to get to my front door and they placed each item in the specific rooms I requested. My bill was only $399 which I thought was reasonable considering the distance they drove and handling antiques. read more

Completely unprofessional. I had a better experience with Two Men and a Truck. One of the movers was incredibly nice; however, the other guy complained about having to go up stairs, was very short, and sllllllow. Two Men and a Truck moved the same amount of furniture in two hours. These guys took four. Once settled and moved in, my husband and I noticed they had broken the footing on our entertainment center, left our rocking chair on another person's patio, and knocked a hole in the sheet rock. My husband called the owner, Jeff, to complain. Jeff accused my husband of being "petty," and said I knocked the hole in the sheet rock. Yes I did in our OLD apartment. We were referring to our new place. Why would we care about the sheet rock in the old apartment? Also, if we are giving a business $600, we are entitled to at least decent customer service! I work in property management where I deal with "pettiness" all day, but I still manage to at least be polite and give people their money's worth. Motivated Movers could not even provide that. Please do yourself a favor and hire a different company, or better yet, move it yourself. I would rather have a sore back and knees than a sore bank account and this annoyance. They are a moving company yet they had to use my dolly and took it with them. After several calls and waiting for its return, I had to go pick it up personally. Several boxes were delivered to my daughter's neighbor's apartment and several are still missing! Two men and a truck were booked up...too bad for me! read more

I believe there is always good in the bad. So, I'll start with the good. 1. The movers were nice and very helpful. 2. I worked at home and the movers were very mindful of that and were super quiet as they worked. Okay. Onto the actual move. I requested the move to start at 8:30 am. The movers arrived at 8:45 am, sat in the truck for about 15 minutes and then knocked on my door. There was only 2 movers, although I informed the person who took the order that I had a large number of boxes, but not a lot of furnitutre. Even one of the movers stated, there should have been more movers than just two. One of them definitely worked faster than the other. I don't want to use the "l" word, but one of them seemed to be a bit lazier than the other. When you're paying someone over a $100 a hour, I want to see some hustle. The transport time took nearly a hour for a drive that is 15 minutes in a car. I could double it for the large truck. I don't know why it took so long for the truck to arrive at my new place. Then the whining about stairs. Yes, you are moving my boxes and items upstairs. It's a part of your job to deal with stairs. It took them 6 hours to do a job other another moving company did in 4 hours. I literally move the same time every year due to my job. I have the same items. I chose this company because of my sister. She used them and had a wonderful experience. The cherry on top? Several of my items were broken. Every box with glass or fragile items were clearly marked. I called to ask about compensation for my broken items and was told there was none being the company didn't pack my items. I inquired was there any protection for my items while they were in the company's care. The only answer I got was "no, only if we pack it." I found the answer to be unacceptable being the amount I paid. I will NEVER use this company again. read more
