They know what they are doing and knows how to handle and calm the first timer's anxiety. Jeff was pretty straight forward and I liked his professionalism. He told me that how the pain will feel and it will be not painful as I assumed. When he started, I felt a weird mix of pain and tickle sensations at the same time that I said to him, "That's It!, That's the Pain....! Hmmm..... weird but I can take it." He said yes and I just handled it like nothing is happening to my skin. LOL! I will recommend all the artists in here for the people who are first time. You get nickel and dimed here for everything and charges aren't explained. Had my ears repierced here after one had closed. Jewelry that was put in was the type that inserts from the back and has a ball that screws in from the front. After they had healed and I went to change the jewelry one of the earrings had been screwed on so tightly I couldn't remove it. Stopped in to have them unscrew it. 30 seconds total (using a hemostat to clamp the earring to remove) and she charged me another $10. Nobody mentioned this charge at all when I asked if someone could try to unscrew it or when I was called back to have it done. Great way to drum up extra business. Secure the jewelry so tight you have to return and they have to remove it with a hemostat. Then tack on an additional fee. I've had other friends with bad up-charge experiences too. One friend called to see how much it would to have her ears pierced and was told $50 over the phone. She ended up getting double piercings thinking it would be $100 and walked out with a bill over $300! Be sure to ask what the total charges are before you even sit down and get it in writing if you have to use their services. Or better yet, go somewhere else. read more

I went to have my ear pierced after it had closed up. Before charging me , Renee gave my lobe a good thorough exam to be sure it really needed to be pierced again. Renae, the piercer, is great! She helped me choose new jewelry for my forward facing helix after my previous earrings had fallen out. She initially used a longer post to combat swelling but my ears didn't swell. I called the shop and was able to come in the next day and have all my jewelry moved around for no cost. She placed a hoop in that I really liked until she could order in the shorter post. She took 45 minutes out of her day to style my ear until I was happy. I am new to the area and I'm always super hesitant to find a new piercing or tattoo spot. I looked at places near me and this one had the best reviews. All I needed was a change in my lip jewelry and Renee (Renae? I'm not totally sure but she was so sweet) made me so comfortable and didn't even charge me. This place is absolutely trash and rude. My mom and I drove all the way out here, 30 minutes out of our way to get her nose pierced. I called twice to make an appointment. I rescheduled it for today instead of tomorrow and when we went inside to check in they said they didn't have it on there. The employees were very rude and dismissed us like we weren't paying customers. It took me over a year to get my mom into doing this with me and they blew it. I got my nose pierced tonight and it went very smooth. René is just an amazing piercer, kept me calm and just did her thing. Super cool chick. Only complaint I have is prices are outrageous. The piercing wasn't bad but my girlfriend and her friend had got tattoos here before and for a small quote on the wrist consisting of four words and a small rose was $150 before tip. It's great work don't get me wrong, I just know I can get equivalent or better work with the same quality elsewhere. I feel like you are paying for the name since mothers is so well known. I had Erin for my first of two sessions yesterday and I'm so pleased with how it went. She was so gentle handed and nice to me. I'm not hard to please when it comes to tattoos just because I love art so much but she really went the extra mile and put in extra detail and care. I went to Mothers Tattoo in Elsmere after reading amazing reviews! When I arrived the shop was spotless! I was greeted by the staff immediately. I wanted to get a small tattoo and a Daith or Tragus piercing. I was introduced to Rene, the piercer. She explained everything to me step-by-step. After in-depth examination of both ears, Rene gave me her opinion that my ears were too tiny. She said I could get a second opinion but not to accept it if they said I could get it done. I was very impressed with her explanations and more! I asked if she could re-pierce my nose. She did another examination and found that my last piercing was in an unacceptable location. She marked and remarked inside and outside my nose in order to get the perfect spot. It didn't even hurt and no swelling at all! (Unlike my last one by another shop) I must say she is very through, very clean( washed and changed her gloves often thru the whole visit) and just PLAIN AMAZING! I brought my Service Dog, Molly, but was told kindly that per the state health department regulations she could not go to the piercing station with me. I went in there to get some piercings done and when i was talking to the woman about it beforehand i asked what the price would be and she told me $210 (before tip) and afterwards she when paying she told me $310 (before tip). she's a very good piercer and knows what she's doing. it just sucks that i was misinformed by $100 about the cost. read more

There are a lot of negative piercing reviews for the shop, so let me echo that as well. The Piercer didn't even check my piercing and put much too short of a bar into my navel piercing and after a month of having it in and being uncomfortable I took it out and realized it had absolutely torn up my belly button and it was bleeding. When I went to my scheduled appointment that the manager was supposed to be at, he wasn't there and I describe the situation to the piercer. She was really understanding and wanted to make it right but when she asked who I did it and I said "you" the tune changed. They called manager in and he immediately became unprofessional and disrespectful. He used his personal life as an excuse for being too busy for customers. He took everything personally and literally was not able to have a discussion professionally. I was told that there was "literally no way the piercer could make a mistake." Literally feels like a pretty strong word to me, but they wouldn't even know because they refused to look at my belly button. Honestly I could not even have a belly button and they would have no idea. BEWARE that they are NOT safe piercing certified by the association of professional piercers and it shows. I was very disappointed that I spent $50 on jewelry that a professional is supposed to make sure fits, yet doesn't. I gave them an opportunity to make it right but they refused and also wasted my time. Spend your money somewhere that actually cares about customers or can at the very least admit a mistake! read more

I had a great experience getting my 3rd ear piercing. The space itself was clean and aesthetically pleasing. I loved the exposed wood and flow of the room. My piercer, Rene, was without a doubt one of the nicest people I have ever met. She was kind, patient and knowledgeable. You could tell she knew what she was doing so I totally trusted her. Too pricey. Wouldn't listen to what my needs were in a tattoo. I understood what he was communicating yet I tried to get his touch artistically to modify my idea of my cover up. They want a photo and then produce an outline and tattoo...not artistry: just tracing. There's not any interest in the customer's exploration of a desired tattoo and taking that and being abstract. When it comes to tattoo shops in the Cincinnati area, you really can't do much better than Mothers. This location was a different tatt shop years ago called Skin Art and the reputation that place had was pitiful compared to what it is now under Mothers guide. Craig is the shop owner and all-star artist but there are several others that do an amazing job of keeping this place top notch as well. Whether you are looking for a full sleeve like I got, or just a walk in chosen off of their wall, the Mothers staff is knowledgeable and makes a point to help you get what you are after. Several times I have been under the needle and Craig has been kind enough to consult about a new piece or cover up for a walk in client. He gives an honest assessment and that can be hard to find in this industry. Usually, great artists and high levels of professionalism are two things that don't go together, but at Mothers they mesh really well. So yea, Erlanger does have a great tattoo shop, and if you are thinking about getting some work done, I suggest you stop in. read more

Staff was not that friendly. When we first walked in the guy said 'did you need something?'- of course we needed something, we wouldn't have come in if we didn't. I got a piercing which was great. It went well and Rene was super nice and thorough and very professional. I am very happy with that and would recommend her for a piercing. I asked to have a tattoo priced- which was 3 lines, a total of 15 words in black ink, no color. No artist wanted to do it and they quoted me $350 for it if any of them were willing. I have another one similar to that (one color ink, just lettering) and it was only $60 (done at a comparable place in Louisville). I think they just didn't want to do it. They acted like it was a big deal and that they didn't understand what I wanted. I had a picture and everything. The shop is nice and clean, but it's kind of weird that there is a tattoo table right when you walk in. Overall- I'd get a few quotes from other places before settling on this. It was major turnoff when to be treated as if we were bothering them. read more
