Mother Earth is a bit overpriced but has a good selection of Tofu and health products. I say it is overpriced because alternative milk need not be 1.79. That being said, this shop does a nice Tofu selection with all the top brands, sweetened nuts, and a large beauty selection. There is no cafe or hot and cold bar. The staff asked me if I needed help twice which was good. I like this little store, mainly for location and lay out, as it is quite easy to maneuver around in terms of a small shop. read more

I love the fact that I have this shop so near to me, it's so handy in many ways. They sell a selection of organic/healthy condiments, pasta's, sauces, fresh lunches, veg, fruit etc. Similiar to Holland & Barrett. They also have a section with vitamins, cosmetics, toiletries, aromatherapy oils and other alternative health medicines. There are rooms attached where you can book yourself in for massages & cranial sacral healing amongst other holistic healing techniques. Staff are really helpful and friendly and know their products well. They always seem to have bargain/sales baskets where you can get good products at a discount prices. Recommend if you are into alternative healthy living. read more

The contents of this shop made me think of a small branch of Fresh and Wild. I found a lot of the same items here, but obviously less of them as this is a very small (but very pleasant shop). Some items are a bit pricey but that is what you pay for the special stuff (be it organic, gluten free, dairy free etc). Once upon a time health/whole food shops were deeply un-trendy: full of bags of beans and haunted by hippies. I liked it that way. These days health food is big business, chic, and health is the key word. This shop typifies the trend. The shop sells all the organic veg, tofu, fresh vegan pasties and wholesome jams you could ask for. But it also has a chic, almost clinical presentation, and tends more towards the 'food as treatment' side of things. One side of the shop is dedicated to supplements, pills and potions, and this is also the home of the receptionist for the attached alternative health clinics. I haven't tried those myself As a whole it's definitely aimed at the relatively wealthy of Islington, rather than aging drop-outs like me. And it does that very well Prices are a little high for my tastes. But one way this shop does win out is that it has an amazing range of brands I haven't seen elsewhere. So if you want 'luxuriously' ribbed French letters (really) or a cereal bar from Australia, here's where you'll find it. Always worth a look. read more

Pricey and pretentious (sorry!), but damn, their quality selection of whole foods products is A+.....I guess I've turned into a yuppie Islingtonite and I can no longer deny that I frequent this place. I head here for my super smoothie additives, various organic grain products and lots of healthy snackables. If you're looking for something that Tesco doesn't stock, they probably have it here, just be prepared to pay a little extra. read more

One of the best and most well stocked health food shops in North London, cos they only stock the best stuff. Although this usually means there's less range, it is good stuff, and they have an organic and ethically sourced policy. They're a small, community conscience business with friendly, helpful staff. They also stock fresh fruit and veg and do their own organic veg box, as well as selling all sorts of health related stuff, including a good range of vitamins and supplements, and loose grains and seeds that you can buy in bulk. They even do home delivery if you shop over £30! read more

This place has a good selection of stuff BUT it is overpriced (be prepared to pay at least 20 or 30 % more for the same products you can get round the corner including Tesco) and the staff is not helpful verging on the rude most of the time.
