After talking with the host I found out he was from the US, Arizona to be exact which was pretty cool considering he did have a slight accent. I later found out that he had lived in the UK for about 10, reason for the accent I guess. Now onto the food. I ordered a few appetizers to begin with. I order chicken somosa, fish tikka, and a kebab (which the host gave us complimentary). Not one thing didn't take good, so much so I ordered somosa's to go. From there my main course came. I had butter chicken with rice, boy was it good. I've had Indian food many times before but this one was on a whole other level. The chicken was tender and full of flavor and the rice was super fluffy. All in all great, and the next time I want Indian food here in the UK this will be my go too.

CHECK RECEIPTS FOR ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES…read more. I have been a frequent customer of this restaurant for a long time, and I have noticed that their service is consistently poor. Today, I discovered that they have been charging a service charge on my receipts, despite the fact that this is illegal for restaurants and hotels. When I brought this up with the staff, they became defensive and thought that I was arguing with them. However, the receipt clearly states that the service charge is optional, which suggests that the restaurant is engaging in some illegal activity intentionally. I would advise anyone considering dining at this restaurant to check their receipts carefully and be wary of any additional charges.

That being said, I can speak to the deliciousness of the menu, and in that respect it delivered in abundance. The appetizer we ordered was phyllo folded into triangles, stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, and goat cheese, then fried to golden perfection. Absolutely scrumptious. It was served over top a small, simple salad, lightly dressed and abundantly peppered, which was likewise enjoyable though less remarkable. The entree was called Supreme Chicken, and was sliced chicken breast served over a bed of sauteed spinach, smothered in a creamy, peppery sauce, resplendent with velvety sliced mushrooms and crispy, sliced potatoes on the side. It was to die for. I wouldn't describe the dish as spicy, per se, but it was thoroughly peppered, so if you're sensitive to that sort of thing you may wish to consider another entree. The menu was exotic but approachable, the staff friendly and accommodating, and the prices altogether reasonable. I have no complaints, a ton of compliments, and a profound sense of sorrow that I won't be able to visit more regularly on account of living on a different continent. Absent that, I'd be a regular. This place is wonderful.

It's not often you find a real jewel of a place that could be so easily overlooked if all you went…read moreon was the appearance of the facade. The Moorish Lounge is one such place. It's completely unassuming from the outside and peeking through the window doesn't give you much of a clue either. It's when you look at the menu that you start to get an inkling that this might just be a little special. Once you get inside you are struck how small the place is and the atmosphere is rather like being in someone's studio flat with a Moroccan theme. However the staff are more than friendly and the smells emanating from the kitchen are even more enticing. Best places to sit are on the sofas around the outside of the space but even if the stools are available, take them because this place can become busy very quickly. The menu is amazing and I can tell you that the cooking is superb. The Tagines are sumptuous, rich and delicious and it is my intention to try each and every one of them. The mint tea is lovely and poured from a height and the juices are delicious too. The restaurant has no available alcohol but the owner/cook has no problem with you bringing your own and doesn't charge corkage. He even points out the off-licence next door. The staff are very friendly and the place has a good mix of people but be prepared for a long meal as the meals are individually cooked by the proprietor to what I can only say is a standard well worth waiting for and should definitely be taken time over to appreciate. It's a wonderful place to relax over a meal and the proprietor is a very friendly and pleasant man who makes you feel very welcome and you don't mind taking your time. The desserts are also something to highlight and especially his own cinnamon creme brulee with orange blossom which is a dessert worth going there for alone! So if you want wonderful Moroccan food in a very pleasant atmosphere and want to take time to savour it then there are very few places I could recommend more. I for one will be returning many times

That and high temperature fire Owen is their marketing strategy. No wood burning owen, just gas one so I didn't have much faith in the place. On the other hand the area does not have much in terms of great casual restaurants as far as I know so in a desperate move I gave it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered one of their mixes - burner (slightly cheaper and I always assume that the chef has recommended things that go very well together). It was not hot despite the name. On the other hand it did come out very quickly and was piping hot. Great crisp on the sides and super thin in the middle. Spread of ingredients wasn't much to write home about and dough quality wasn't impressive either, they didn't even offer any extra shavings of parmesan or olive oil. On the other hand there was something good in it. I quite enjoyed the pizza, given on a wooden tray. Not a super soft and sophisticated, nor was it Italian (too many ingredients and too big choice of them) but I really liked it. The crust had just the right consistency and it was very enjoyable experience. Easily better than any of the big delivery chains. The place is quite spacious but it has only 4 tables. It got full while I got there, though it seemed to be because of people ordering takeaway. Might be a good place to take your kids as they offer dessert pizzas including Nutella pizza. I'm too conservative for this one. Not sure if they have toilet to be honest, on the other hand Mon - sat there is a Tesco with free toilet a stone throw away. Overall, if you are in Thornton heath and are happy with a slightly loud and somewhat rustic locale, go for it. Pizza won't be best you've ever had but it will be a very good version of your normal pizza.

Halwa Poori chole is a famous breakfast combo which is so filling and nothing can be packed with nutrients in the morning than this breakfast. Halwa Poori Chole combination is quite a popular one and is linked with a ritual in INDIA - Kanjak! Kanjak is celebrated either on the eighth or ninth day of Navratri Kanjak used to be, and to a certain extent still is, one of many favorite festivals. Kids wake up to the sweet smel of hot halwa and fluffy pooris along with dry masala chanaa made in many households Today - tried to explore yet another place in London - famous for its Karachi fare and they USP is Halwa poori chole. Decided to relish this sinful combo and without a doubt it is delicious. The best part about Halwa poori combo - Suji halwa is just done right not too sweet has a dash of ghee and then the chickpeas (kabuli chanaa) curry is mild on spice quo but is melt in mouth one. The aloo sabzi is an added plus. Halwa Poori House - London offers various delicacies like - Halwapoori combos, irani chai, Kunna paya, lamb nihari and Haleem. Will be back soon
