My wife and I tend to stay in inexpensive hotels whenever we're traveling, so I've gotten pretty good at keeping my expectations low; low enough that I'm usually pleasantly surprised wherever we stay. In this case, I got exactly what I expected.
When we pulled into the lot, there were three police cars with lights ablaze in the parking lot. My wife thought perhaps that was a sign that we should look elsewhere, but I saw it more as an adventure. "Plus," I said, "at least we know the Police are close." Turns out they were dealing with a confused transvestite in the lobby. No reason to ding the hotel for that.
Actually, the registration area looked very nice and new--in my mind I was thinking "Score!" when considering the price. The girls at the reception desk were pleasant. Alas, the room wasn't quite so nice.
Overall room cleanliness was decent, although the carpet was fairly worn; but that wasn't all that unexpected. Rather, a bunch of little things soured my opinion. The drain lever plate was broken and just hanging in the tub. But that turned out to not make a difference because the drain was so slow you ended up standing in 8" of water by the end of your shower. There were only enough towels for one person, one floor towel and one big towel. The WIFI didn't work.
It wasn't bad enough that I'd vow never to return, but I'd look for other options in the area first. read more
