We have stayed at numerous Courtyards over the years but this one is nowhere near the quality of Marriott . The common areas were not clean. Left Florida ahead of Ian, what should have been a 6 hour drive took 8. Have driven through Troy many times on the way to the beach but never stopped except for snacks. Made reservation on the way. Hotel is slightly off the highway which is great. Restaurants and retail on the road. Staff was friendly and efficient at check in. Room was clean, bed comfortable. I hate that I HAVE to give them at least one star. Our stay was horrendous!  I was there for a family reunion with a large group of us staying there, and we all had various issues while there.  The cleanliness of every room was disgusting for all in our group who stayed.  Everyone noted how dirty and unkept their rooms were.  Our room in particular was painfully gross, with someone else's hair all over the bathroom on the back of the toilet, in the shower, in the sink, and on the floor.  Speaking of the floor, all of ours were sticky, including the hard tile floor in the bathroom and the carpet in the room.  In shoes, my feet stuck to the tile and the carpet!  We had not spilled anything in there.  The floors were literally like this upon our arrival.  I couldn't even walk around the room barefooted.  I wore shoes in the shower and throughout the room after realizing the floors were sticky all over.  There was something spilled on the nightstand (also NOT spilled by us) that was never cleaned up.  Gross!  One night I went to get ice and there was an ENORMOUS bug on crawling on the wall!  One of your guests in our group lost power in their room and had to be moved to another room.  The tv AND the remote in that room didn't even work.  Another guest in our group experienced a leak in their room that caused damage to their personal effects.  The bathrooms were also desperately out of date and in disrepair.  I understand that the hotel is currently undergoing construction, but we were not made aware despite the claim by customer service that this was posted on the website.  It was not, and I took screenshots of the site to prove this.  And frankly, this would not have bothered me one bit if the rooms that you allow people to book/stay in were at least cleaned, as I imagine you would not allow a stay in a room that itself was under construction.  However, I believe the hallway construction is likely what exposed the bugs, in which case I would have at least liked a heads up.  There was no staff on duty over the weekend to address the electricity concern in the room having lost power.  Then when I attempted to check out of the hotel, the attendant at the desk was nowhere to be found.  So we headed out the front door to put the last of our bags in the car only to see the attendant emerge from a pick up truck parked on the loading/unloading circle outside the lobby doors to tend to the front desk.  When we didn't bother to return inside to try checking out with him, he went on back into the pick up truck without a word as he walked by us.  So apparently he had better things to do in his vehicle than work the front desk I guess.  Really annoying!  I would normally simply checkout on my Marriott BonVoy app on my phone, but because this was very early in the morning well ahead of the 12noon checkout time, I guess it didn't allow for it due to the time.  I was so disappointed in my stay at this hotel, as I really wanted to like it given the small college town, but it was a terribly bad experience overall here.  I plan to write to the corporate office for at least a partial refund. read more

Prior to arriving we called the hotel and spoke to Jordan. He assured us that our room would be ready when we arrived. Well it was not, the sheets were not on the bed, there were no pillows. Upon arrival I sent my husband down to get us sheets. He came back up without pillows or fitted sheets. It was frustrating to say the least! There weren't any towels, the bathroom wasn't clean. There were so many issues, we chalked it up to being Thanksgiving holiday and tried not to complain. The breakfast we were told at check in would be from 6- 10am. When we came down at 9 am it was over. This is not a hotel I would highly recommend, the cost vs the experience is not worth it. Oh one last thing, bring your own soap the soap that is in the shower leaves a film on your body. The one positive I got to bring my dog! So I gave it three stars! read more

Check in staff very welcoming. room was clean and bed very comfortable. Bar and "restaurant" was a complete joke. Staff at the bar had no idea how to make simple drinks. Food choices are very limited which would be fine if the staff was able to cook they food properly ( burger was a frozen Patty that was cold when served). They have a sign that says they serve Starbuks coffee but when asked for a cup with dinner was told, " we would have to make a pot and that would be really expensive". I suggest you walk across the street to the Mexican restaurant and give them your money. read more

They get 2 stars (instead of none) because most of the staff were very nice, especially the manager. Bed, furnishings, art, etc, were all nice. BUT, be aware that while their website says free parking, there is a "parking recapture fee" added at the end of your stay. Just $8 plus for 2 nights, but still a surprise add on. Staff might remove this if you ask, they did for me. Also says free coffee on their website, but be aware that means the in room coffee maker, and we all know how nasty that is. Starbucks in lobby, so I paid $23 plus tip for 2 coffees and 2 scones. Other issues: no USB ports in the room. NONE. Even the cheapest places have USB ports! A roach in the bathroom (on 2nd floor) ran across my foot. UGH! No one said anything when I mentioned this at the front desk. Had some bathroom issues...big crack (18" long) in tub surround. soaps, shampoo, etc, attached to wall in big bottles, except for the one ripped from the wall, leaving a large jagged area where it was previously attached. BEWARE-Marriott does not respond to poor experiences nor do they care once they have your money. Let me start off by saying that up until our last 2 stays at a Marriott Property, my husband and I always enjoyed your hotels. 2 years ago I stayed at the Courtyard for 2 nights in Wilmington, NC and it was not good, room was dirty and the tv did not work, couldn't get toilet paper and no one was responding to requests to fix tv or get us supplies. I figured it was a shocking fluke. We now we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Troy Alabama and it was HORRIBLE! From you removing our reservation without notifying us to Ridiculous price gouging on the price per night (you did not honor the price of our first reservation), the lobby was in bad shape, the pool and outside grounds were filthy and the pool unusable (we booked with you because of the pool and trust of other past good experiences). The food and coffee was horrible, not fresh and took an hour to get once was ordered. On the morning of my daughters graduation we attempted to get breakfast before the graduation and order high priced avocado toast, no one else was there. We placed the order with 80 minutes before we were to leave. It took over an hour to receive. We could not find a front desk person or the waiter for over 50 minutes. Then when the food arrived the toast was burn and the avocado brown and we ran out of time to eat it. We have never had such a horrible experience, everything was disappointing and extremely expensive. After the last 2 horribly expensive experience I don't know that we can trust stay in a Marriott again. From a very disappointed customer to a company that apparently doesn't care. We put x2 complaints in and 2 other members of my family put in complaints and we never heard from them other than a confirmation that they got the complaint. read more

They are currently under renovation, though not on the booking do they mention this, no gym, sent over to the Hampton Inn, actually should have booked there, no lounge area, and eating area is half way completed. I tried booking a room here, the front desk attendant was HORRIBLE!!! No customer service what so ever. She needs training ASAP. She refused to let me speak with the manager. What?!?!!?!?!!?!?! Go stay somewhere else. The Hampton Inn isn't far away. read more

Last resort place. The lobby looks descent. But the building and rooms are run down. Cleaning is lack there of. The carpeted floors are all stained and filthy. The room itself had crud on and around bathroom counter, tub, the wallpaper peeling up mold behind it. Even the hair dryer there had sticky substance and hair all in it. Gross! The room and the personnel were excellent but the bistro is so overpriced it's ridiculous chicken pot pie, a grilled cheese and tomato soup and two glasses of wine $50.93. Estancia wine was $12 per glass. I can buy a whole bottle for less than 20. Don't know if this is Courtyard by Marriott corporate wide but I do know I will never be dealing with the bistro again And I do know that I'm a Marriott rewards member and I am reconsidering my loyalty to Marriott read more

Nice clean and fresh smelling hotel. Rooms/bathrooms are very clean and the sheets/pillows smelled freshly washed. Staff are very friendly and helpful. This was one of the nicest hotels we have experienced. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was lovely. We enjoyed the balcony from our room. The hotel was very quiet. The business center was exceptionally nice. We had a king suite which was very comfortable. Breakfast is not included in price of room, but was cooked to order and very good. Very nice, very clean, good service. We had a very nice stay here with the family in two of their rooms. Everything seemed very clean and nice. We enjoyed the pool and the gym. They had a convenient "store" for food, as well as a nice bar if you're into that. It did not have a hot tub, if that's important to you. We had a lovely and restful stay. read more
