The adorable Westie and the open sweet smile from the man when I went to pet the at the front desk highlight everything we love about motel 6- this is the place for a safe happy stay with people who really love animals. We just checked out and the morning person at the desk was busy epitomizing Iowa Nice. We chose this one due to being close to the next city of Walnut. The Antique shoppers delight City. I only had to ask for a small refer. YES , mere minutes. The room is the ultimate basic. But the beds are fine, shower is excellent and tv has over 40 channels The real special is the sports pub on site. You can get wings, burgers , fish or shrimp. Beer n wine. This has more options than my last 5 stays coming across the Nation. And a Subway Sandwich next door. I can see why they are a Honor Reward Recipient for the Motel6 Chain. The only thing that could have made this motel better, was a demolition company. Actually, that's an insult to demolition. This motel was the most horrendous, atrocious, absolutely disgusting experience of my life. And i've lived a long time. When you walk into the room, it smells like a thanksgiving meal that has been left outside for 3 weeks. The beds either were so soft you could get scoliosis, or so squeaky that you would get no sleep. It was like if a mattress from a pull-out sofa and a wooden board had a baby. The room was so small that it should include a claustrophobia warning. In conclusion; don't go here. read more

I stayed at this Motel 6 in Avoca, Iowa while driving to Pennsylvania. This Motel is rated one of the top two Motel 6 in the nation (based on a article in the lobby) and is award winning (see photos) The staff is outstanding! Friendly, polite and accomadating to guests requests and needs. The price is right and a bit less than other Motel 6 I have stayed at. The rooms are a bit larger than I expected with a nice, large shower/tub combo. The only negative thing was the water pressure could have been a little higher. Oh, I don't want to forget the large indoor heated swimming pool and the washer/dryer and great vending machines. Free Wi-Fi and great selection of of TV channels with a free premium one. From the outside, the motel appears to be a two story upscale hotel. Yes, this motel welcomes pets and I found the beds to be a bit creaky but comfortable. I fell asleep immediately as most road weary travelers will. I HIGHLY recommend this motel! read more

We stayed here while driving cross country and were shocked to discover that nobody on the staff including the night or morning receptionist and cleaning staff were wearing masks. At this time when you would expect anyone in the hospitality business to show an abundance of caution, they are not. The rooms (we had three) were okay and the baths small. The sheets were scratchy and the pillows gross (the cases did not quite cover and the pillows inside were dirty). While we appreciate the value, next time I would pay a few more bucks to stay somewhere that takes our health more seriously. read more

Staffs are super nice and welcoming . Rooms didn't smell bad but there were a lot of bugs in our bedroom.

Front desk lady was extremely rude and charged us $72 and couldn't give an explanation why it wasn't $55-58 as listed online. Then to top it off a staff member tried several times to force our door open at around 8am, despite us yelling there was people in the room. This place is awful. This motel has been very accommodating. The staff is very friendly and smiles when they see you. They allow two pets to stay and do not charge extra for them like many other hotels/motels do. The owner saw us in the hallway after we checked in and asked if everything was okay with our room. Our room is very clean and comfortable. Very affordable as well! read more

Motel 6 is a budget motel offering a nice balance for the items listed above. This place has thrown the balance out of wack. At $63 a night, this place should be offering a breakfast of some sort, more spacious rooms, some toiletries and comfortable beds. I made a reservation about 3 weeks in advance directly in the motel6 website (not a third party site). I drove 7 hours and got to your motel at night on 8/31. I was given a key, got to my room and it was occupied. I told the receptionist and all she did was to give me a refund. She should have offered to find a place for me to sleep and also cover the cost as it is the motels fault that I had no place to rest after a long drive or at least give a voucher. It's 11:30pm at night, I made a reservation I shouldn't have to be the one trying to find a place to sleep. She didn't offer anything other than a business card with the owner's information. After a few phone calls late at night in your parking lot, I found a room across the street at Cobblestone. I paid $166.88. I emailed the owner Keith and I have not heard back from him at all. I've stayed at this motel twice in the last month and have had a great experience both times. It's very clean, quiet and value priced. My room was only $53 with my senior discount including tax. The desk clerks are very friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee is available in the morning starting at 5:00 am and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are provided during the day. The motel pool has been replaced by a conveniently located sports bar/grill with 6 large screens. I ordered a chicken fajita quesadilla, which was really tasty and delicious for only $5.99. When we need a place to stay and we don't have any money, we go to Motel 6. It isn't my favorite place to stay but it is a place to lay your head down and sleep for a few hours before you get back in the car and drive some more. If this were a rating of Motel 6's verses other Motel 6's this particular Motel 6 in Avoca would rank well. But comparing it to other hotels, the Motel 6 will always fall short, just because of what it is a generic cheap hotel. The room was tiny but the bathroom was spacious. Even though it had two twins it felt like they were smaller twins than normal. Our cats were able to stay, which is a big plus on the road. The rooms were clean and quiet. read more

I stay at a LOT of motels every year and often choose Motel 6 because they are so welcoming to those of us who would not dream of traveling without our beloved fur babies. Motel 6 can be a crap shoot, but more often than not I find them reasonably clean and inexpensive (I would literally sleep under a bridge if it meant staying with my Chihuahuas). This Motel 6 was by far the nicest Motel 6 I have ever stayed in. As I said, I find most of them acceptable in terms of being clean and relatively comfortable. But this place is the Ritz Carleton of Motel 6's. Someone put a LOT of thought and standards in this facility. It should be the model for all Motel 6's. Total douche bag owns the place. Came out to the parking lot to question me and my husband about parking in the lot (he assumed we weren't guests). We were parking there to leave one car there and drive the other out to eat that evening and we were potentially going to stay there and book a room after returning later that evening, but immediately changed our mind after he rudely told us we can't park there unless we are guests. He was an asshole for no reason and freaked out about us taking one parking spot for a few hours. We obviously moved our vehicles and parked elsewhere and we were very compliant, yet he was still a dick. He must have a very sad life at home or something because he had the shittiest attitude ever. Do not waste your money staying at this place. Terrible customer service and the Motel owner treats complete strangers (and at that moment, potential clients) very rudely. 0/10 do not recommend this place. read more

Easily the best motel I've been to. Not only was it clean, but it was a steal for $49! On my road trip, I randomly stopped at this motel. As I entered, the owner was very cordial and friendly. I noticed they had several awards for great service on display. The hotel room itself was super clean! There were no problems. I have stayed here twice a year for the past 3 years traveling thru. Each time has been perfect. As most motel 6 customers may know some motel 6's are not so great. The rooms are on the small side but clean and well maintained, hotel is pretty new. Have never had 'smoke smell' issues in the 'non-smoking' rooms as I have experienced elsewhere. This is a good place to just get a shower and a good night sleep. That's it. If that is all you are looking for then this place is perfect. There is no breakfast but there is free coffee in the morning. It's also very clean. So if you need a shower and sleep driving across Iowa, then this is the best spot. I don't think I've stayed at a Motel 6 before - we booked this room to see the eclipse in Beatrice, NE. Other closer rooms to Beatrice were either booked or hideously expensive. It was pretty clear that they had raised prices significantly to take advantage of the demand for rooms for the eclipse. I am grateful that this Motel 6 did not do that. On arrival, the front desk clerk was friendly and very efficient. The room was very clean, and had everything needed (except a robe hook in the bathroom). Everything worked, everything was clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Love the laminate floors! Air conditioning was great. I would go back any time. Also, a great value. read more

We checked in, grabbed our bags, went to the room uncovered the blankets and there was dirty and hair we turned around went back to desk and woman at desk said I have to go inspect the room she went and came back and said I don't see it and cannot refund your money. As far as motels go, it had everything (minus complimentary shampoo). Due to the pets allowed in room nature of motel 6, I would not recommend staying if you are allergic to pets or cats. The beds were rather uncomfortable and were very loud. Even rolling over was loud enough to wake up the other person in the room.
