My sister and I each had a room for 3 nights. Desk staff was friendly and rooms were well supplied. Our complaint was the breakfast bar. Not very clean and one morning there was no milk, butter, or syrup. Desk asked manager on duty to go get what was needed. He said no he was just helping out from Arizona. Very unprofessional. There was still 1 1/2 hours for breakfast. I asked to talk to him and he finally went. Maybe next time I will stay at the Baymont down the street. Small town thinking. read more

Stayed here recently while doing a cross country drive. It's a simple spot, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable enough. Front desk staff was super nice! Stayed here in September, 2024. You never know what you're going to get, even when reading reviews. This place was an exciting surprise. The staff was great, the room was spotless and in great condition, despite it's 10 year age. There was a bar near the breakfast area where my husband enjoyed a glass of wine at the end of the day. We had our little bird with us, so yes, they are pet friendly. Parking was ample. It was mostly quiet, despite being near a semi refueling station. It was only an overnight stay, but how nice not to worry about the comforts of a nice rest. read more

Avoid booking this place on line. Charged a $75 booking fee then refused to cancel my reservation.

We needed a room during a fast trip. We called and they had a room, the front desk woman was very helpful in local restaurants, and helped with other questions. She was a great listener, as one of our challenges was fairly complex. The on-location bar was out of wine for the night (how does that happen?) but she offered us a different drink to try (white claw?). Overall, an EXTREMELY comfortable room, given the choices in the area. The Baymont down the street is such a craphole, we were expecting a similar experience at the truck stop where the Cobblestone is located. We'll be back with a mid-sized group in a few months. Although this seems on the surface to be a low-class place, it's well kept, well staffed, and solid. read more

Clean enough, quiet enough... I can't recommend it nor say that the Super 8 or whichever inn is better. There are no hotels options in the vicinity. The hair dryer sparked within seconds of being turned on. It's a scary fire hazard. Good thing I don't use hairspray. The liners between the disposable cups were not clean. Could be from the factory but there was a dead bug. All in all, things that are forgivable from $60~ room inn but the visit here left a sour taste in our mouth during check out. It was difficult to get them to fix an error on the billing. We did check out early and we didn't care about being refunded the night we did not stay. However, they charged an inappropriate fee and it took many calls and a firm stance for them to fix the issue. I had left a much worse review detailing their antics but changing the review since they did rectify the error but it wasn't easy nor was it pleasant. read more

Hotel clean front desk friendly , but the mattress absolutely suck. Nothing like sinking in the middle of a bed. I even spun the mattress around no good. Had a queen with two beds the other bed was worse with a very loud and squeaky box spring and a terrible mattress. I would not book this place as long as I have a choice. read more

Maybe in a pinch. The front desk person who checked us in was awesome! The housekeeping leaves much to desire! Not only did we find a dehumidifier in the room that hadn't been emptied, there was a dirty wash cloth hanging from the shower head. As I was walking through the lobby to our room another guest was complain that his room didn't have any towels. Breakfast was very underwhelming. They have signs in the bedroom and bathroom about water conservation and hanging up towels or not changing sheet on multinight says but then have everything wrapped in single use plastic. The was a plastic single use cup wrapped in single use plastic. Conserve the water so we can have more plastic in it? Doesn't make sense to me. read more

Stayed here because it was the most modern and convenient of available options. It's right off the 80, so there's activity outside at all hours. That being said, we slept well. The rooms are clean, modern, and no-frills. We did not have any issues, and the continental breakfast, while standard in nature, was nice and filling prior to a day-trip to Colorado. The diner nearby, "American Pie," is just what one would expect from an all-night diner at this location, but nothing unsavory. We got some pie there and brought it back to our room. Overall, a satisfactory stay. Tip: If you tell them you didn't use the safe, they'll remove the "safe fee." read more

Awesome hotel, clean/large rooms, inexpensive. We stopped at the Cobblestone Inn just by chance on a road trip. We pulled in late in the evening and got a King room on the second floor, right near the stairs. Easy to book at the front desk from a very friendly clerk, with a bit of a sense of humor. There was ample parking, the rooms were well appointed, good coffee and tea. When we needed a bit more, we went downstairs and asked and were given more with no problem. The breakfast was delicious. The price was quite low for the quality of the room. If we are in the area, we will definitely stay again. read more

Oh my goodness, I am really not sure where to start with this place. Very clean, very comfortable, lots of accommodations, the staff is exceedingly friendly! I do not know what else you need in a hotel or expect. I will definitely be crossing their threshold again first I want to say that when we pulled up and walk through the door nobody was there I waited a couple minutes and finally somebody showed up but she was so bubbly and friendly and with such a huge smile on her face I had not a worry. Her name was Wendy and she is by far what all hotel concierge's should be. The next morning after a much-needed rest full night on their super comfy beds, we came down for breakfast. It was sausage and eggs, waffles, yogurt and coffee... The usual. We ate packed up and left. I get a phone call 10 minutes away asking if we had left our phone. This is the first hotel that has ever called me to say I have left something! kudos to them this time it was Miss Heather I want to thank all of you for being so amazing it really does make a huge difference for those of us who are on the road all the time. read more

Very clean hotel, reserving it was a pain in the ass though. I called in the middle of the week at 10:30 am and no one answered the phone. After several minutes of holding and callbacks I finally called the toll free number and ask them to connect me. You're thinking why didn't I try another hotel right? The problem is it's like 1 out of 3 in Avoca and it was blocked off for a wedding that we were attending. The breakfast was minimal but not terrible, only the gravy, eggs, and sausage was kept hot. They also have a small store front that you can buy drinks, candy, frozen pizza, and more. It's convenient for late nights. If you're looking for a clean hotel that is fairly new this would be your choice in this small town. read more

This was the best hotel we stayed in on our road trip and that makes us smile because people back home might not believe we'd give that review to a place in Avoca, Iowa. But the place (and room) was big and clean and looked so nice, and the hotel had these welcome amenities that other hotel chains should catch on to, like vending machines near the front desk that dispensed not just snacks but frozen microwave meals. As the front desk clerk said, "You're kind of in the middle of nowhere out here." It made sense that we didn't have to leave the hotel to get something to eat, and we could make use of the microwave in the room. There were even toiletries that could be purchased which made my husband very happy because he'd run out of some stuff. My preschooler got impatient while we ate our free breakfast so I walked around with her, and all the staff members we encountered were patient and friendly. Nice rooms, but they gouged my elderly mother-in-law with an obscene rate. Came into town and she was not feeling well so she insisted we stay at a hotel and she wanted to make all the arrangements. Not being savvy online she booked directly with the hotel. On check out we learned that she paid 200 more for a 3 night stay then what the hotel was offering online. In speaking with the hotel they said they were full but the hotel was booked two- three weeks in advance - so I doubt that it was full that much in advance. They didn't to anything to make it right - such as even offering a discount the next visit. I know there is a limited choice in hotels in the area, but I encourage people not to support this one as they are not consumer friendly. read more

Traveling between Guernsey, WY and Des Moines looking for a found the Cobblestone Inn. I wanted to check out a day early and asked them to cancel my room for that upcoming night they REFUSED. Informed I needed to cancel by 3 pm the day BEFORE after being there three days already. (beds too soft and close to the floor, add more toilets) The staff was very predicted to keep again are you staying!!! If you are not given me a refund do not keep asking so that you can rebook. This hotel really could care less about customer satisfaction. Very disappointed in their lack of compassion for their guests. BEWARE!!!!! read more

So be careful when signing in they will charge your credit card twice once for the room and another for incidentals that is supposed to drop off because there are no available incidentals. So that is somewhat sketchy because it is a roadside motel. It is clean and was quiet but a little over priced. Now waiting to see the incidental charge dropped off my card. Follow up: The double charges were removed promptly. The breakfast was really good and the hotel crew was really nice. I would avoid the truck stop restaurant next door and drive into town. read more

Hmm....where do I start. I left my ring in the room when I stayed here on my way to see my dying father. When I called and asked to speak to a manager....all four time I was told that there was no manager on site. (Surprise). I kept getting the answer that, oh, I'll text him and have him give you a call". Well today I tried one last time. HEATHER obviously needs some communication skills. She hung up on me twice, evidentially "forgot" that I had just spoke to her 30 seconds before. Well now I'm on my way back home and in their neighborhood. I thought about stopping in, but why bother. They've obviously had great training,(cough cough). Instead I'll be reporting this to corporate....all the way to the top if need be. read more

We booked a room using the Expedia app, only to arrive at 10p (after driving 14 hrs that day!) to find that they had no rooms and no record of our reservation. The manager (Richard) explained to my satisfaction that it was an Expedia problem and suggested another town 30 min down the road whose hotel(s) might have a room. Within 10 minutes (as we were beginning our search), Richard approached and explained that he would have a room ready in 30 min. He was in the process of training new employees and was planning on staying the night because he lived more than an hour away. He vacated his room for us and made the drive home himself to save us the hassle of trying to find another place to stay, something he certainly didn't have to do. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable with a decent breakfast. Plus, they have a great little bar/lounge which was most welcome after the day we'd had!! Jenny pours a good drink! The Cobblestone "gets" customer service and I recommend it to anyone who's overnighting in the area!! read more

BEWARE!! I was here on business and my work finished a day early. I checked out a day early and asked them to cancel my room for that upcoming night but they REFUSED to refund my CC for that night. Their reason - I did not cancel by 3pm the day BEFORE but I had absolutely NO WAY of knowing by 3PM the day before that I was going to get done with my work a day early!! The manager Brittany REFUSED to refund my unused night and was very rude. The owner Teresa didn't even have the common courtesy to call me to discuss, even tho I left two msgs for her to call me. I talked to their corporate offices as well and no one help me. In 25 years of traveling for work, I have NEVER had a problem like this before. This hotel really could care less about customer satisfaction. They are just looking to charge your credit card. BEWARE!!!!! read more

FYI. Do not book your reservations online and check out early. First off no one that works the front desk can make changes to any online reservation and insist that you need to contact the company you booked online with to update your reservation. We checked out early and we were charged an extra night stay even though we talked with the folks at the front desk well in advance of 24 hours. We were told that it was the "managers discretion" whether or not we would get refunded the extra day. Well I don't think we faired well since we didn't get the refund. We could not contact make contact with the manager. Just be aware that if you book online with Cobblestone that you do not try and check out early unless you are prepared to pay for an extra night. read more
