Seems like this is an older motel 6. Lots of tangerine paint on the walls. I feel like I've time traveled back into the mid 70's with the vibe. Was taken care of and clean inside. The hotel does not let people check in under 21 (i'm 20 my bf is 23). He works nights so instead of giving the front desk his id, or having us put down a refundable security deposit like any other normal hotel, she told me I couldn't check in so I had to go wait in my car for my bf to get off about 4 hrs in 90 degree weather. The second thing was the elevator smells like cat pee but there is a sign that says no cats. There is also a sign saying no marijuana on the property, which is crazy considering I am legal and have a card. I take pills at night from the dispensary to help me sleep, who are they to tell you no. I get not being able to smoke it in the hotel but not being able to have anything is ridiculous. Next the fire alarm went off saturday about 1 am and was so loud and they didn't turn it off for like two minutes. AND the showers and so small and the tubs look like this. ANDDDD we got a king size bed and there was only 3 pillow on it....3 flat pillows mind you. Terrible one of the worst hotels i've stayed in around this area. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

The nicest motel 6 that I have ever stayed in. Was either a couple years old or very well remodeled recently. Checkin clerk gave my son a welcome present. Only thing that was a little overkill was the no marijuana signs everywhere your turned. It must have a been a problem in the past. If I ever come back to Allentown, I would definitely consider this hotel again. read more

It seems as if someone dropped a small hotel from western Europe into Allentown! This dog-friendly property is clean and simple. The staff is also wonderful and very kind. Since the property does not have carpeting, it is cleaner than most other properties I have been to. My girlfriend has asthma, so solid floors really helped! read more

The property manager walks around like a Nazi. I woke up to a flat tire, and she said it's against policy to work on your vehicle once she saw me changing it. Okay, so how does one expect the vehicle to move if it has a flat tire?!? Should I levitate it with my mind off of the property? She tapes signs to peoples doors regarding their behavior, and she knocked on my door stating my baby was too loud when she was crying. Do yourself a favor and find another place to stay, unless of course you want a controlling nanny who has nothing better to do in life except to make for your entire stay miserable. read more

I would give more stars if I could. This hotel hit it out of the park. One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. I'm traveling with my mom who needs an accessible bathroom, and the accessible room we were in was more than spacious. The bathroom was beyond expectations. The room, hotel and grounds were well taken care of. I think the hotel might be a new build. All the staff was friendly and helpful. When I checked in the front desk clerk confirmed that I needed and accessible room, he had a guest earlier reserve an accessible room but didn't need it so that the accessible rooms stay open for those who need it. As an animal lover I love that this is a dog friendly hotel. In the lobby they have a table with blue towels to clean up dog feet, poopy bags and a bowl of milk bones. If you are passing this way definitely stay here you won't regret it. read more

Stay away from this hotel. The concierge apparently get to run the place on whatever whim they choose. After several stays at MOTEL 6, 681 Blue Barn Road. Allentown PA 18104, (and nice reviews), I was informed by concierge Raeann I was on the "No Rent List" due to stained sheets and towels from last stay. When I asked to see the subject evidence was told only the owner could show me and he would not be available until the following Wednesday. When I called back the following Wednesday was informed by a different concierge, Heppa (spelled phonetically), the owner was not available, and she was not allowed to give his name. I will be following up on this review after I have obtained a face to face meeting with the owner. read more

The website says pet friendly, no other pet comments. Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance, one room for me, one for my traveling companion. We show cats. When we arrive their pet policy says "No more than 2 dogs in a room" and then lists dog policies. Nothing about cats. We were sent away because we had cats. They don't accept cats. It's not written anywhere, they just threw us out. Fortunately we had arrived earlier than we often do for Eastern PA cat shows. We found another place to stay. We were lucky. Our cat show was in conjunction with a big pet expo, we could have been SOL. The hotel we ended up at was another bad experience ultimately, though we did have a clean place to sleep at least. read more

First of all...its Motel 6. It will never get 5 stars because they chintz out on so many things. This motel is brand spankin' new. Just built. It looks it, which is the only reason we are staying here. The lobby is simple and clean. The grounds are well attended. The carpets are clean. We stayed in room 106. A non-smoking room. BEWARE of the CASH ($50) deposit they want if you request a non-smoking room. Entering the room it was CLEARLY a room that animals have been in. LOTS of animals. They could use a deodorizer that works for animal scent. On the upside, the floors are laminate, which means we are not walking on pet hair from everyone else's animals. They also appear clean. The beds are doubles. No box springs. Two pillows per bed. I always bring a blanket. There are no extra blankets in the room. Bathroom includes two bars of soap. No shampoo. Towels for three. In Motel 6 class...there is a bottle opener on the back of the door. The two seat booth and table with an extra chair is nice. Not having to eat on the bed is wonderful. All lighting is fluorescent. The closet sits behind the flat screen TV. 6 hangers available. WiFi is free with code. Look for code on key card envelope. No free breakfast. Ice machine out front. Vending machine in lobby. Update: the dog party got active in the middle of the night. That's what happens when all the dogs stay next to each other. The interstate is literally right behind this hotel. Fair amount of white noise. The tree barrier helps keep the loudness to a minimum. They have coffee out front in the morning. read more

OK, First you need to set your expectations. This is not the Ritz, it's not even a Holiday Inn or Ramada. The rooms are small. The amenities lacking. But the price is great: $55 on 1/30/16 for one for one night. If I'm ever here again (doubtful) I would come back. No carpet. No real place to hang anything and no dresser; none of which I need. The lighting is good. The TV works. The wifi works and the shower has hot water. The bed has seen lots of wear and tear but I can sleep in it! I'll take it. It's a bit of a drive from the interstate exit but worth the price and the fabulous Italian restaurant, Paese Mio, down the street. Spend your money on dinner and stay here for a cheap night. As others have already mentioned, Motel 6 is about as basic as it gets. We were traveling from Southern Indiana to Newport, Rhode Island for our son's Naval Officer commissioning and graduation, so we planned for no frills lodging by bringing our own shampoo, shower gel, and hair dryer. After driving for almost 11 hours, we were tired and searching for a place to lay our heads. We had encountered a fair amount of road construction during our travels that day, and could see on Google Maps that we were getting ready to face more, so we did a quick search for area hotels, and this was the first and closest match. We checked in shortly after midnight. It is near the Interstate, but in a quiet location. The parking lot was very well lit, and we could tell as soon as we pulled in that the building was fairly new, as it had a nice, contemporary look. Check in was a breeze. In less than 5 minutes we had our room key in hand and were lugging our bags up to our room. The room itself looked clean and smelled clean. I always look for stray hairs in the bathroom and on the shower walls for a quick cleanliness test, and didnt find a single one. For the most part, the bed was comfortable and I slept well. It was extremely quiet throughout the night, and I didn't hear a peep from the neighboring rooms until the following morning. Overall I had a good experience here. Checking out was even easier than checking in. They allowed us to pay cash which was nice, and it ended up costing us around $67 to stay here on a Wednesday night. read more

Stayed here once before issue free. Came thru town again in less than a month and all of a sudden a deposit was required? No mention made when I booked the room online that I remember. My husband and I are sick so naturally we were just looking to get off the road take some medicine and sleep, which we did. Only to wake up in the morning to a swarm of ants right next to the bed making their way into the wall. I advised the front desk and was asked "did you have food?" Which naturally I was a bit put off because even had we had food it wouldn't have just caused a swarm of ants. Will not be choosing this motel again. If you enjoy some nice AC on a hot & humid summer night, Do NOT come here!! Rooms are all booked for the night so I'm considering sleeping on the floor of the lobby where it's at least below 75 degrees . For a cheap, basic hotel it doesn't get much better than this Motel 6 location. It's clean, the staff is friendly and the coffee is actually really good. Think of it more like a youth hostel - no frills, but private, safe and comfortable. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. read more

Unsafe and creepy!!! Here is the email to the manager (which was never responded to) describing our experience: Hello, I write to describe our disturbing experience at your Allentown location (681 Blue Barn Rd.) last Saturday night, August 29th. Following a concert at Penn's Peak, my girlfriend and I decided to stay at your motel rather than drive the 2.5 hours or so back to the NJ shore. We checked in at approximately midnight or so--the information is in your computer-- to room 315 and go to sleep. At some point we were awakened by someone hitting the door. It might have been an adjacent room, but it was difficult to tell, since we just were just woken up. We brushed it off and then went back to sleep. Then somewhere between 1:15-1:30 the room's phone rang. Jenna answered and the caller, in a creepy, whispering, sexual voice said "I got everything you need, baby. Everything." My girlfriend was terrified and I was enraged. She was ready to call 911. We didn't feel safe in the motel and packed to leave. We described the incident to the young man working the front desk who had checked us in (who called himself Jesus [Spanish pronunciation] when I asked), who acted baffled and flustered, saying something about how only the front desk can call rooms. His whole demeanor was suspect but it didn't register at the time. Flustered, he "couldn't find the refund forms" but told us he'd take care of it. We exited the building and it dawned on us that it most likely was him. My girlfriend said the voice on the phone sounded like his. I stormed in and confronted him about it, which of course he denied. We still can't be sure if he, or someone else, was responsible, but we had even considered calling the Allentown police. We no longer are, but we are considering writing on Trip Advisor, Yelp, and the like warning other customers about our disturbing experience. But at this point, we are content if the incident is looked into, the phone records checked, and our payment for a room we didn't stay in is refunded. I should note that we work as professionals in NJ. We are not money grubbers, dishonest consumers, or problem creators. We don't look for conflict. But we can't just let this one go. This should be the mold of what Motel 6-should be. A great, hard working, courteous staff gets you checked in and in your room fast. The rooms are hardly luxury, but they are clean with great hot showers and a.c. Again, its not the Four Seasons, but if you're looking for a friendly, no frills place to your rest your weary bones, this is the place. read more

I went to this hotel a couple of weeks back. I will not say the date because of what happened. Room looked new and very nice actually for a Motel 6. For being in the middle of nowhere I was very pleasantly surprised for a under 70 dollar hotel. Turned on the tv and it did not work no matter what I did. No big deal, I called up front desk. After some confusion a maintenance guy came to the room and tried to help out. By the way he was friendly and nice. As I am sitting there I noticed a huge bite mark on my arm that just happened. I didn't think anything of it at first but bam 2 minutes later I had 4 bites on the same arm. I started scratching going wtf? and noticed the guy scratching as well. I said I am so out of this room. I went down to the front desk to either change rooms or get my money back. I explained the situation to front desk clerk and she got rude with me. I instantly said I'm not staying here and refund me my money. As this is going on the dam lobby was 80-85 degrees. I saw the thermostat on the wall that confirmed that and asked wtf? Took easily 20 minutes for her to void the charge while standing there, sweating like a stuffed pig with my bags. ok, no big deal so I left and went to another hotel. I arrived at the other hotel and began to take a shower. I took off my clothes and was appalled to see that I had easily 2-3 dozen bites all over my body. Ok.! Where to start. In had previous booked the hotel on Booking.com. The requirements stated 19 to book a room. When I get to the hotel they stated I had to be 21. Even though "Sam" cancel my room due to my age he refused to refund my money. I will be contacted the Better Business Bureau to file a formal complaint as well as contacting the cooperate office. My husband and I were here over the weekend and have stayed several times in the last 3 years. It's very very basic- much like European rooms - bed, tv, microfridge, very small eating area for 2. Carafes of coffee in the lobby ea. morning. The important thing is that it's clean and accepts dogs. Ours is 50 lbs, no fee. There's a good diner nearby on Tilghman. Take-out or eat outside at one of several pet friendly restaurants. read more

I would never recommend this to my worse enemy!!! And to put this in perspective before I go off, I lived in a fraternity house for 4 years in disgusting conditions while in college, so by no means am I clean freak or anything, but I do have a basic level of human living standards that I expect to be met. First we(me and my girlfriend) go to check in and the lobby has an odd odor, I don't really care cause maybe they are cleaning or something happened so I blow it off, I go to check in and my reserved room price with tax and everything was $73 dollars(cheap!!) I was then told it would be $80 something about a $12 difference. I had my reservation printed out and I showed it and explained etc, he let me have it at the reserved price.... so I wait and the whole time they(appear to be husband and wife or some sort of family ) are looking back and forth and looking up at us and speaking in Indian. I didn't get any English from them at all except when they wanted more money or when they handed me my room key back and when they explained rules!! So rude to obviously talk about someone right in front of them in a different language!! Then it became clearly apparent that they didn't even have a room ready.... I was waiting for a 1 bed whatever room, I only needed it for sleeping!!! So I waited and waited and the gentleman or husband or whatever looks up at me and ask me if I smoke, and then points at this little countertop warning saying a fine will be assessed if the room is smoked in!! How rude to ask in the first place and secondly it is quite obvious to not smoke in the hotel, or at least just say hey nonsmoking by the way when they handed me the key card. So they go on talking in Indian and start talking to someone else over walkie talkie, obviously someone getting the room together or finding one because I keep hearing them say various room numbers etc.... so eventually they pick one and it's obvious the conversation went something along the lines of "well is this one clean enough?" Sort of thing... So this whole room process takes about 15 minutes...eventually I get a key.... after an extremely rude and long encounter proceed upstairs. Then I finally get to my room and think "okay awesome now our trip can begin", we were planning a romantic weekend at a winery near by and just needed a room to sleep in, you know, the basic function of a hotel room? So when we first get there we do the normal, walk in throw your bags down and check it out. To start there were so many light switches for a room this small it was redundant, but we turned them all on and it was still too dark!! So we said screw it because "whatever not a big deal" and we open the curtain to let light in!! And behind the window curtain is throw up on the wall, literally throw up on a wall, I took pictures and everything I was so astounded.... in our horror we looked around a little more, we found some kind of liquid splashed on the base of the bed smelled of dog urine but I wasn't sure and I didn't want to get any closer. Simply disgusting and unacceptable!!! However at this time it was about 2:00 PM, and I needed to get ready to go to the winery as I had a reservation at 3:00pm. So I go to the bathroom to shower, you know I turn on the water to warm up the shower, and I brush my teeth and shave a little then go to hop in the shower and quickly realize there is no shower curtain!!!! There was just a regular cloth curtain..so the floor was soaked and it was just the oddest thing. I jump in cause I'm running out of time and I quickly realize there is no shampoo or hair product, just one bar of soap.. so I open the package and the soap appears to of been used prior... smaller than it should've been and put back in a wrapper.. so I showered with no soap... and the water was not even warm... so basically i just "washed off" and couldn't do it for long because of the soaking wet floor... So whatever I get dressed and so does my GF(Lucky for her she showered before we got there), and we set off in an Uber!! we have an amazing night with a wine tour, nice dinner out, go shopping etc, and eventually find ourselves on the way back to the hotel from hell.. So we got back and had a bunch of stuff so we brought it up stairs and sat it down on the floor and after such a long day we plopped down in the bed, and this is where it gets gross. If you thought prior was gross, just wait, its coming. So we lay down from a tiring day out together and discover the bed covered in medium-short length black hairs everywhere. My girlfriend being long blonde hair and me with buzzcut, quickly deduced that it was not ours. Like an absurd amount of hair!!!! We then found several stains on the top blanket and pen marks. Horrible, to finish it off we found more wet marks/splashes on the walls of some liquid and two significant indents in the table in the room.
