She explained that it only works 60% of the time and I would have to come 5 times a week for six weeks. She said it would be most effective if I am consistent and don't take breaks. I cleared my calendar and committed to the treatments. Halfway through, without notice or explanation, she told me she would be gone for a month. I told her I had committed to this time and she said only that "it couldn't be helped." I asked if someone could cover her and she said "no." We would resume when she came back and she would add extra sessions. I told her I had already made other plans and she just shrugged and repeated "it couldn't be helped ." Clearly, her time was more valuable than mine and, as a patient, I came second. I've never known any doctor, especially a mental health doctor, who didn't have a backup in case of emergency and would abandon a depressed patient. We finished treatment and it didn't help me at all. She said she didn't know if it was because of the break or if I was part of the 40% who didn't respond. She said we could wait a while and start over without any breaks and i said "no thanks." It would mean another huge commitment of time for me and more income for her. I found her practice to be very unprofessional bordering on malpractice and would not recommend her.

I don't sleep during the day anymore and I now walk about 2 miles a day and I have lost 97 lbs from me in the picture with the machine on my head! I love Dr. Kevin and Dr. Jo. They worked to manage my meds very hard and when I emailed them, they, or someone from the office, would email or call me back in about 30 minutes or less. I think I have been seeing them for my meds for 6 or 7 years and I fully recommend them. Simon is the behind the scenes man that runs the TMS machines that will help relax, bipolar, PTSD, paranoid, schizophrenia, effective disorder, anxiety, depression and many other mood disorders. In an already traumatic time, they helped us through the process with patience and care. We learned a great deal during their 4-day family workshop when we visited the beautiful facility ourselves. I would love to stay there myself! Alta Mira has a full menu of treatment options far and beyond what the other treatment centers we looked into offered. He was able to benefit from the doctors, the therapists, the neuropsychological testing, and the multi-day workshop intensives. They also have awesome options like massage, acupuncture, meditation, and adventure therapies. I truly believe that in order for one to heal, one must surrender to the methods being used by trained professionals. I can't even count how many times my family gave into his rationalizations for his drug use. We were at our wit's end. I am so glad this time, it stuck. Alta Mira doesn't cater to the source of the addiction in such that they heavily medicate the person, quite the opposite! This had been a recurring problem when trying to get him help. Instead, the staff at Alta Mira helped him dive deep into himself and identify the past triggers that perpetuated his use and gave him tools and ways to circumvent his usual behavior that feeds his addiction. They worked with him to resolve his past trauma and to get to the core of why he became addicted. Four times a year they have a complimentary 2-day workshop for their alumni. My cousin keeps taking these workshops and learning from them. We are so, so grateful to have him back and in a position where he no longer has to suffer the same way again.

If you actually complain?! Oh boy now you've really done it, and they will begin to retaliate against your dignity if you get too "uppity." I urge you to save yourself the anguish and additional trauma, and just look elsewhere. Healing does not happen in an environment like this one where the staff are reactive, untrained and inexperienced. Horrific experience, and you should steer clear of Alta Mira. I'm beyond grateful for Dr. Chacko…read more Over the years, I've worked with several therapists and none of them were the right fit. I usually left feeling misunderstood, stuck, and frustrated with a lack of progress. I'm also not someone who typically writes reviews, so the fact that I'm taking the time to write this says a lot about how strongly I feel. I first reached out to Dr. Chacko for help with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. Now 4+ years later, I can say without hesitation that he has been a genuinely transformative force in my life. What makes Dr. C stand out is how fundamentally different he is from any therapist I've ever worked with. He deeply cares about his patients. He goes above and beyond. He's honest, straightforward, and a good human. He says the things you need to hear and always with compassion. He's deeply empathetic, emotional, and genuine. There's no clinical distance or therapist "mask." He's right there with you as a real person. And he's also not afraid to get vulnerable himself. Sometimes he'll ask if he can share a personal story to help make a point, which means a lot to me. Those moments make our sessions feel more human and meaningful. It's not the typical one-way therapist-patient relationship. He takes the time to really understand you. Not just your symptoms, but who you are, how you think, and what you actually need, and because of this, he gets to know you deeply over time. The fact that he's both a therapist and an MD adds another layer of trust, especially when navigating issues like ADHD and anxiety. I can say without hesitation that working with Dr. C has changed my life for the better. I'm grateful every time I walk into his office, and I can't recommend him highly enough.

The person who helped me get set up was polite and knew what forms I needed. Once inside the room, the assistant was efficient and didn't waste time. They asked good questions and took notes on everything I said. The doctor came in not too long after and took time to review things with me. They spoke in a way that was easy to understand and didn't overcomplicate stuff. Looked into a few things and gave some thoughts about what could be going on. What I liked was that they didn't just give a quick answer and move on. They asked me what I thought and made it feel like a two way conversation. I walked out feeling heard and informed. Not perfect but definitely better than some other places I've been to.
