Welcoming and warm staff, everyone here is so kind. I have had a great experience with Mind Therapy Clinic.

I worked with Christina V. two years ago for complex PTSD and trauma thinking this was a reputable and trusted organization. She retraumatized me by making me write out my trauma and reread it every day to myself and her while I was currently in an unsafe environment. I can say that this did not alleviate the trauma symptoms and rereading it and reliving it every day only made my symptoms worse which she gaslit me and reassured me that it would subside. The trauma has not subsided and I got fired from my job for having severe symptoms which I experienced alone loosing the ability to afford therapy. This is absolute negligence and comes from a dangerously uninformed non- trauma-informed lens. This approach is not empirically supported and she touts. This experience added to my trauma and I spent an insane amount of money only to be gaslit, retraumatized, and revictimized. read more

If you are considering their PHP, beware- this place is a SCAM. I was advised by several different people from the beginning of my admission process that their PHP would be capable of treating complex trauma and PTSD. It is not, so please do not come here if you truly have a complex psychiatric illness, and I mean more complex than just a case of clinical depression or anxiety. If that's your situation and you want to try a few therapy groups, by all means go right ahead. You might find it helpful. Emphasis on might. However, I found there to be very little meaningful discussion and connection fostered in the groups. A lot of the groups ended up just being people venting about their personal lives outside of programming, even if it had very little to do with the theme of the group or topic for that day. Occasionally we'd get into some more meaningful discussion, but it would still always be very rudimentary, basic mental health stuff like "self care" and pressure to be productive. I mostly blame the group leaders, because many of them seemed either inexperienced or just ill-informed on how to properly run group therapy. Multiple times I was cut off by them in the middle of processing or trying to talk about any sort of painful, emotional experiences I was going through. I tried to bring this up in group as it was becoming a serious issue, and yet they continued to do it throughout my time there. I also think the general background of the other group members was part of the issue as well. Most people at MTC are not there for the PHP, they come for either IOP or one or two groups a week. Obviously their experiences are going to be very different from someone at the PHP level. And even those at the PHP level are still not really that seriously mentally ill, coming from the perspective of someone there with trauma, complex PTSD, and major depression. I was assured that they would be able to treat those things, however, they clearly cannot. Under the PTSD/trauma section on their website they write, "We have an exceptional staff of experienced physicians, nurse practitioners, doctoral-level psychologists and master's-level therapists specializing in a full range of evidence-based trauma treatments." They have a few doctorate level clinicians who run groups, but just because you have a fancy degree does not automatically make you an adept group therapy leader. Most of the leaders were not capable of fostering a feeling of welcome, openness, and validation- key elements needed for effective group therapy, especially for trauma disorders. They were either too clinical, too cold or overall unprofessional in their style. They also advertise a variety of different treatments for PTSD like neurofeedback, prolonged exposure, individual trauma informed therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and TMS. I was not offered any of these services at a single point in my nearly 2 months as a client, even after indicating that I was not feeling like the program was right for my condition and I needed more intensive care/other treatment options. And yet my primary reason for being there was PTSD/trauma, which they were well aware of. What's more, my assigned therapist with MTC forwarded a private email correspondence between myself and the clinical director regarding an a personal incidence that occurred during group with another group member to my outpatient therapist who is not affiliated at all with MTC. I do not care about their alleged "need for team collaboration"- this was incredibly unprofessional and downright violating. Also, I was given a social worker as my individual therapist- not even an LMFT. This was because all their other therapists were unavailable. Maybe don't advertise your program as being unique for all your doctorate level and masters level clinicians/individual therapists if you can't guarantee that feature for incoming clients newly admitted to the program. Ultimately this place is riddled with issues on so many levels, it's not even funny. They deserve to be shut down for the level of unethical, manipulative advertising practices at the very least. I will be looking into legal action to take against MTC as my mental health and safety was put in serious jeopardy for months as a result of the negligent practices of this business. Shame on you all. read more

I've been very impressed with the responsiveness of the staff, the calmness and professionalism of Dr Schiller and the desire of everyone to try and solve problems. Simple. read more

It all depends on who you see. Never pay for a class in advance. Be patient. Be courteous even if it is you 20th call as the front desk manages a lot more than before and sweet Beth no longer answers phone. And, you must have deep pockets and adhered to all their recommendations to be part of the practice but at least they treat you with dignity unlike some offices. I prefer One therapist but she is hard to get in to see as she is often busy but she is insightful and her therapies are extremely good. read more

Mind Therapy Clinic - Meditation works. Skies the limit! Stop and appreciate the Beaty around you and gratitude goes a long way! - Psychiatrists Near Me - Corte Madera, California

I am not sure why there are bad reviews on here but my guess is some are misinterpretations of the intentions of the clinic and Dr. Schiller (just a guess) because honestly if it wasn't for Dr. Schiller I wouldn't have hope for my kids mental health at this time. OMG! Thank you Doctor from the bottom of my heart. Let me explain: A good friend (who is a PhD psychologist) recommended Dr. Schiller to me. I came online to check him out and saw some good and bad reviews but IMO this is normal. I figured "perhaps the people that would write a review for a psychiatrist are depressed & frustrated" - i don't know? Everyone has their opinion. My boys are identical twins and sadly showing similar characteristics in mental health. I liked that Mind Therapy Clinic had other treatment options besides meds. I have spent so much money on my boys trying to figure out what's going on with their mental health. We went to the clinic a few times and explained to Dr. Schiller my situation and he seriously went out of his way to help me in my time of need. He made calls on my behalf THAT HE DIDN'T HAVE TO DO and then he gave me some referrals for less expensive options. He could have made money on me but he didn't. So when i see these bad reviews it makes me realize how many people might misinterpret peoples intensions. I highly recommend this clinic. Not just saying that. And I had a nice experiance with the front staff. Dr Schiller does speak very slow when explaining something (LOL!) i could tell he was thinking about everything he wanted to say. I am sure in his field he can easily offend people (so i get it). No one asks me to do a review but it's been on my mind because this is a very good & well intentioned clinic. And i am soooo so so grateful for Dr Schiller. THANK YOU! THANK YOU for your kindness! (tears in my eyes). I imagine things would be very different if i hadn't met him. And i will go back to him if and when we need to. I hope it works out for you all in your journey and your search for better brain health! :) read more

This is a wonderful facility where clients are treated as a whole person rather than as bits and pieces of their various issues. It just makes sense to me that a person who is battling more than one area of mental illness should seek treatment where the staff can and does interact on behalf of that person to make sure all the pieces are fitting together for optimal outcomes. In addition to a variety of friendly, professional and well-trained therapists, Mind Therapy Clinic has a great support staff which is welcoming and friendly to both clients and family... a huge plus for me as a family-member! read more

My husband, daughter and I used the services at Mind Therapy Clinic. We were so dissatisfied with their services. First, they charged our insurance for services never done - monthly drug screening, sessions with Dr. Schiller and more. Next, while my daughter used the IOP, there were SERIOUS traumatic experiences that happened within her group. This trauma was handled so poorly by the staff. We believe it had a major impact on our daughter. Dr. Schiller is a fraud! Beware!! Because their reputation was so bad, they changed the name of their clinic and moved to a new location a block away. They now operate on the corner of fifer and Tamel vista (across from Jo-ann fabric). read more

I've been seeing Dr. Schiller since 2016. It's been going fine. The person who works on the office mis scheduled my appointment. I originally took the blame but then I actually had my son confirm that it was her mistake and I did give the correct time. Now I'm being charged for a virtual visit that for a mistake on their end. Furthermore, because it was virtual, a quick phone call could have been made. read more

This place made my daughter worse! She become less functional and more distorted after several months attending outpatient programs here. She also turned against those in her family she trusted prior to attending this program. Sadly this left my daughter with fewer resources, internal and external, then she had when she first started attending. They promised to drug test her and didn't. She got a DUI under their care, as well as receiving high amounts of prescriptions for benzodiazepines -- they promised to monitor her and they did not. Leaving the programs after several months, my daughter has more challenges and struggles to deal with, not less. Many inexperienced practitioners with mother-hating biases and small intellects. Avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

I was pretty surprised to see all the negative postings here, but I want to say that my experience with MTC has been completely different. Also, if you're wondering why no one from the clinic has responded to these negative comments it's because to do so would violate their client/doctor confidentiality. They are also not allowed to solicit positive reviews, so keep in mind that the perspectives here can be unbalanced (especially coming from those that have never been to the clinic or attended a program there). I have personally found every single person at MTC to be professional, compassionate and intelligent and always go above and beyond to help. They take their positions very seriously and are aware of the great responsibility that they have to their clients and society and aim to help heal above all else. They also have beautiful offices that are easy to park at (big plus). I sought them out for their integrative approach to healing that involves mindfulness, neurofeedback, restorative movement, along with more traditional modalities like prescribing and psychotherapy. It's really the only place of it's kind I found in the Bay Area with such a comprehensive tool box and diverse approach to long standing and complex issues and those struggling with conditions that previous doctors may have overlooked or were not able to significantly help with. Their program is really all encompassing and they are able affect inner change that results in outer change and teach you skills that will last a lifetime. They feel more like 'existence coaches' than therapists. Some reviewers commenting on cost I can understand, but in my experience you really get more than you pay for and you'd be hard pressed to find the type of services they offer in one place anywhere else. In short: They are thorough, kind hearted, technologically advanced and holistic and I would highly recommend the clinic to anyone seeking a high standard of care and attention. read more

This operation is far more concerned with making money. Especially if they think you have deep pockets. These people are some of the most scary I've ever run into. Dr. Schiller could care less about your problems. His only concern is getting you to make the next appointment. He charges by the visit and tries to make it as short as possible. He looks at his watch and his emails all the time while you are there talking. Prescribes strong drugs so you get worse. His Brains Scan test should be called Brain SCAM test. NEVER USE THESE CROOKS FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT FILING MALPRACTIVE CHARGES. read more

I struggled with anxiety and depression throught my teen years. I've decided to try Mind Therapy Clinic, and to be honest, I could've never felt any better than before. In a matter of days and weeks, I started to feel less anxious and more upbeat every day! This place has helped me a lot, and I think you should try going here if you need help! read more

Only in Marin do they figure out if you have enough money. When he figured out that I wasn't working, the conversation and my ex wasn't working, the conversation ended really quickly. What he didn't ask if I was a trust funder. Biggest crock. read more

Had two appointments with Dr. Bowman for an urgent matter, both times she simply didn't show up for her daily appointments. Something is very off here, I would avoid and find a Dr. who is professional and trustworthy. Doesn't think twice about leaving her patients up a creek in a bad situation. read more

Carol and Dr. Schiller helped me during a tough stretch in my life. If you're having a tough time, I would recommend you call MTC and get started with their program. It works! You will join a supportive, caring and nurturing environment. I was very depressed and unhappy/cried daily when I started treatment here. I'm now back to my old self. Don't let the negative reviews here fool you. While it isn't cheap, their intensive outpatient program (IOP) got me back on my feet. I can't recommend them highly enough. The doctors and therapists here are straightforward and care about you and your recovery. I also met some great people attending the program; it was comforting to realize that I wasn't alone in my struggles. If you're reading this, you likely aren't in the best of shape either. Just call them and put your trust in them and their approach. I promise it will help. I wish you all the best! read more

I appreciate Mind Therapy's attention to the financial needs of its clients. In my experience, they demonstrated a willingness to work with the financial limitations of clients in order to do be as available as possible for ongoing care. Thankful! read more

I was not a patient here but I am reviewing simply for their customer service. I called to get info for a family member and Mary the lady who called me back was not nice at all. She was rushing the call and seemed bothered by me asking questions for info. You would think they would be nicer since anyone calling could be a potential patient. read more

I suffered from depression on and off my whole life. At around 35 years of age I started using antidepressants with varying results. In my early 40s I suffered a prolongered period of depression that I could not shake using any available treatments (SRRIs, accupuncture; exercise; whatever). I was in a very serious state when I found my way to see Dr. Schiller. Using his expertise and somewhat novel methods, he was able to utilize Reference-EEG to pin-point the types of anti-depressant drugs that could optimize my treatment. Shortly thereafter I was placed on new meds that simply changed my life. No more depression seven years later. I continue to see Dr. Schiller twice a year in order to monitor my treatment. It is very clear to me that Dr. Schiller was and is at the cutting edge of his field. I am sincerely grateful to him. I simply cannot say enough good things about Dr. Schiller and Mind Therapy Clinic. read more

As a healthcare professional, I would usually shy away from writing such a review. But my ethical side just won't rest about this matter. I advise you to carefully search and "do your homework." There are a small handful of elite-trained professionals that practice in an unethical manner, sometimes to the point of shockingly appalling and far from the professional standard of care. Just as in several other areas, such as law enforcement, there are many appreciated commendable "unsung heroes" and a number of middle-of-the-road clinicians - but there are also a few cleverly-disguised "bad apples." Getting good professional psychological/psychiatric care can make ALL the difference, so choose carefully. And if you sense something is not right, do the work to find an appropriate therapist. While I am not familiar with every therapist at Mind Therapy Clinic, I know enough to validate my one-star rating. There is plenty of good psych help available in Marin. It's work to find, but well worth it; please find it, for your sake or for those you care about. read more
