We apologetically said "yes" and got the menu with "no problem" The Max and the Bleat looked a bit expensive but we were hungry. Thank goodness as when they came out they were huge. You get what you pay for. The coffee was very nice and it was roasted in house. We bought a packet to take home. I was a little confused as there are two Bills Beans. The place we were at supplies the coffee to the other one plus a few other places around town.

A few things to note first: 1) the interior and seating area are VERY small, so this is not a…read moregreat shop to relax and daydream the day away 2) you do have to go to the counter to order, and there is often a line; be patient, the staff are actually excellent. That said... the coffee here has been the best I've found so far in Australia, including the wonderful places I've been to in Sydney. Not only does the barista treat the milk correctly, but the bean selection is spot on. It has a beautiful, complex, consistent flavor (even if the milk starts to cool, the taste doesn't diminish). In two days time, I had a total of six flat whites, and brought others to enjoy the place (and they had very positive responses to the flavor of the coffee as well). The finish of the coffee is that pleasant blend of caramel and smoke that is just amazing. The other thing to mention here is that the lady behind the counter remembered my name from my second order, which to me is quite amazing, given that the place was quite busy the first time I went there, as well as the times I returned. Overall the people working here were friendly, pleasant, smart, and clearly care both about their products and the service they offer. I was surprised reading the other reviews here, because as an outsider who only went to this place a couple of days, I had consistently superior service and consistently superior coffee. My overall advice is: IF you like coffee for the sake of a good coffee, this place is the best I've seen in Australia. Go here. If you like coffee for the social aspects, and want to sit around and chat, this probably isn't the best place (Cafe Latte in Orange would be better suited to you for that, and it's coffee is good, just not Bills Beans good).

Hipster crowd, outdoor and indoor seating, lovely little side street, great array of sandwiches, pies, quiches, cakes, slices and muffins on offer for fairly standard prices. I asked for a double shot and it wasn't as strong as I had hoped, but the flavour was good. It was really busy on the Sunday morning, so you may have to queue. I liked that the customer base seemed to be more locals than tourists (like us!).
