This venezuelan food place was great. It is located in the food truck area in Long Wharf New Haven…read more Food was great, best thing was the Chicha, which is a drinks made of rice, was awesome. The cachapas were sweet and the toquemos were nice and cheese. The owner working there was a super nice dude and I can't wait to go by thisnolace again.

Finally made it to Long Wharf to visit the Arepa food truck! For now they are open only Fridays…read moreand Saturdays but make sure you follow them On Instagram because that's where they will post and keep everyone updated with any changes. They have only been open already for 1.5 months. So, today my dad I went to grab a bite specifically at the Arepa food truck.I have been waiting for this moment !! Lol! So happy we did because it was delicious plus always glad we can support! I had an Arepa Rellena( beef) and as extras I added cheese and aguacate. Toppings are extra charge. My dad also ordered an arepa rellena but added cheese and sweet plantains to his . Arepas and Tequenos will come with a side of sauce with It. I wish they had an option on the menu where they had arepa that had everything on it for toppings with the option of chicken or beef and then also keep the other options as adding it separately for those who prefer that way ! So on to the drinks.. we both ordered Chica which is a creamy drink made out of white rice and tastes just like ( Arroz con leche estilo Colombiano ) rice pudding Colombian style. Soo good , it's like dessert but to drink! And my dad had tequenos which I couldn't have since they weren't Gluten-free but he definitely enjoyed eating those cheesy fluffy fried doughy deliciousness of goodness very much! Las arepas were very filling , we didn't wait long for them to come out either . The only thing is that my beef arepa did have some pieces that were kind of cold. No major issue , just wish it was all evenly hot . But that's an easy fix! The food was fresh, flavorful, tasty.. and it definitely filled us up. I just love arepas! The gentleman that greeted us( the owner) was so nice and very friendly!! Must say lunch was really good today!! Check them Out ! Now I know where to go for a stuffed arepa!

Great remodel!! Great menu!! Service is amazing, still love the outdoor patio even though i miss…read morethe sand, that is the only thing i would bring back. There items are enhanced and better quality, and presented much better. Cant wait to go back.

I was passing by on Cinco de Mayo around lunch time and decided to pop in. I had been waiting for…read morethe renovations to finish so I was pretty excited. Sadly, just like the rest of the recent reviews I was quite disappointed by what I encountered. Everyone working was super friendly and attentive which was nice but I didn't recognize anyone working there. I didn't pay much attention to that but when the menu came it was greatly reduced and trying to be more "upscale". it felt odd as the main draw of Valencia for lunch was that it was fast, casual, affordable and delicious. I usually get the lunch combo that came with an aerpa, empanada, rice beans and ceviche but that wasn't on the menu that I saw. I ordered the street corn to start and got the bowl with a pernil arepa. The bowl was a large portion and everything was fresh. Taste wise things were pretty good but didn't blow me away. The pernil was only ok and that should have been the star of the show. I had to ask for aji and I was only given a small dish with some hot sauce as well. In the past your server would just hand over a bottle of aji and let you go to town. The food was decent, but not close to what I remember. The biggest let down was when the check came. I know things are expensive all over but lunch was $41 for some street corn, a jeujed up chipotle bowl and a coke. That seems wild. There was also a charge added for the kitchen which I get but it still feels odd to see additional service charges on an already expensive meal. As far as the renovations go it honestly didn't really seem like anything changed inside, maybe some fresh paint and tile? Unfortunately I will probably not return any time soon or even at all.

I can't believe I haven't written a review about Rubamba yet! I've been stopping here for a few…read moreyears and they've always been consistent with the Arepas. I like to switch up the type of arepa that I get and this time decided on the orange Cuban, which came with rice and sweet plantains. I almost wanted to lick my plate. It was so delicious!! Their tacos are pretty popular too, and some of the arepas are big enough to split. There are a couple of tables inside, but I know most people opt for a takeout.

Nachos: I third-wheeled to Rubamba with my couple-friend, and we got seated next to two more…read morecouples on a double date. All of a sudden I was ninth-wheeling. I felt like a lab rat mid-experiment, having a sudden moment of clarity that this fun maze might actually be a death trap. The older gay men beside me glanced at my empty seat before smiling at me with mischievous curiosity. They led with kindness and asked "how are those nachos?", but I knew they meant "why don't you have a date". When I answered with explicit detail about the flavor composition of the nachos and they burst into laughter, I watched the "ah, that's why" land on their faces in real time. Fair. A girl's gotta get her satisfaction somewhere, and in that moment, it had been from the even cheese distribution. The nachos were quite nice, actually. Could've used a bit more beans. And a lot more heat. Incidentally, and according to the four gay wise men, so could my love life. All else: a familiar redhead walked past the window and I said, "I know that redhead from somewhere", turns out it was Conan O'Brien. Second-tier celebrity sighting of the night. First tier was our waiter, sweeping the floor with a little rhythm in the hips. I love when people are so caught up in their own world that the noise fades out. It made me smile.
