From having traditional Irish dishes for a couple days straight prior, this was an ideal change up to switch up the flavors. I ordered the Roti Canai, Nasi Lemak with Sambal Prawn, and Singapore Laksa Lemak which had fish balls, chicken and tofu. All so delicious. The Roti was warm and buttery and when dipped in the curry it added a rich and savory bite. The Nasi Lemak with the perfectly cooked prawns were also amazing. Perfect texture and also savory to provide that warm and familiar asian comfort food. I'm not sure what the thin fried crackers are that came with it but that also added another flavor combination to try. Also so good. Finally, the Singapore Laksa was so delectable. The rich coconut curry broth and noodles paired with a bite of tender chicken, fishballs and/or tofu made for a super enjoyable dish. I came in for dinner towards the final hour before closing which may have gone in my favor since there was a table available when I walked in. The staff were very attentive, patient and friendly. Definitely will look to go visit their other locations!

The rice was clearly soaked in chicken fat oil as authentic Hainan chicken rice should do. Would recommend this dish to anyone looking for good Southeast Asian/Chinese cuisine.

I got the sayur sayuran (mixed vegetables) dish and was kind of disappointed to learn that rice wasn't included with the mains. When the food came, they placed the dish on this little grill on the table. A nice touch, but I thought it was kind of unnecessary. The dish itself was okay tasting but very bland. Service was prompt but the prices are rather high. I will say, though, that since I am a vegetarian, I didn't get to try any of their meat dishes. Maybe that's where they shine instead?

Yes to Roti Canai…read more Yes to Char Kway Teow Meh to Beef Rendang - it is one of my favourite dishes back home but here, they have put a Western twist on it with beef strips instead of beef cubes, and gravy instead of a thick creamy curry. Meh to Ice Bandung - this is a cordial-like drink with rose syrup and condensed milk but I hardly tasted the former. That qualified them for 3 stars. An additional star: Staff were very attentive and gracious when my stray arm hit the glass of water which went flying across the table, and immediately replaced it as well. Will come back here again - hopefully the restaurant sees this review and change the recipes to the dishes to make them more authentic.

I was in Malaysia about 8 years ago and the food is absolutely amazing, I was very excited about a little piece of a Malay experience in Dublin. The owner was really attentive and took very good care of us explaining all of the dishes and he even said he'd order for us so that we had a good experience. For starters he brought us a variety of the starters so that we could try a few. These were nice although the deep fried ones were pretty oily. Not a hugely different experience from another Asian restaurant. The problem with the owner choosing our dishes is that I have no idea what I ate! The main course was delicious, I had a chicken dish in a hot and spicey sauce with rice. My friend had a lamb curry-ish dish which he devoured. We just had ice cream to finish off as we were pretty full at this stage. Bonus points for Langkawi because they had lassi which I absolutely love but you can only get sometimes, I had a scrumptious mango lassi. Yum.

The owner and head chef, Alex, is a really nice guy and he managed to find the time to come out in between cooking delicious curry's and say hello to all the customers! The food, was so authentic and fresh and was really good. I had the prawn fritters to start (battered prawns with a sweet and sour sauce) and then the squid gulai curry as a main and it was fantastic! The squid tasted so fresh and the rice was very nice aswell! The sauce had a perfect spice and really flavorous taste to it. This is definitely worth a visit if your looking to go out to ballsbridge / town for dinner and want a delicious and not expensive Asian cuisine! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

They have all the usual Chinese dishes you would expect with a few Malaysian dishes too. There is one dish on the "Chef's Specials" section of the menu. It is simply called "I like it crispy". It is one of the nicest dishes I have ever had from a takeaway. It is pork in a deliciously crispy, and slightly sweet batter. It's drizzled with a mildly spicy black bean sauce. If you like crispy things then you will love this. They also do a mighty fine Mapo Tofu too. Once or twice they have forgotten something or made a mistake with my order but after a call they quickly supply me with what's missing usually with a little extra treat by way of apology. The staff are all lovely and get anything sorted right away. Shangri-La is now my go to takeaway for when I want to gorge myself. Well worth a try.

My partner is a Chinese from Malaysia and for this, its always a real bonus. Wow, the food is always good - we are never disappointed with the food there. Even my partner is impressed with most dishes he got, especially the mee mamak which he really loves. Their chicken balls are GORGEOUS and my favourite side dish there is chilli & pepper squid (I would go to heaven just for them!) I usually order Chicken/Beef Nyonya from them - I always love it but the problem is it is never the same - sometimes its nicer, sometimes its not bad, sometimes, its SO GOOD - it depends on who the chef is. Delivery people are good - apart from this girl who won't give us change - for some reasons, she is unwilling to return even a small amount of change, assuming that we would automatically tip her! :o We will recommend SL to anyone in Dublin :-) even our friends from London were quite impressed.
