Char kuey teow
Khoo K.

So happy to see Malaysian food restaurant in Dublin. The nazi lemak with beef rendang (thick spicy stew) is one of the best I have had. The rendang is super flavorful. The char kuey teow (wide rice noodles stir fry) is tasty but missing the 'wok' heat. I am still happy and satisfied nonetheless. Would recommend this place if you are ever in Dublin looking for some kick and variety to your palette.

Nasi lemak beef tendang and Orange chicken for lunch

We found this restaurant by chance as we were wandering around the area near by our hotel. The food was authentic, I had the Nasi Lemak beef rendang, tasted exactly like the one I had in Singapore.l which I used to eat this dish once a week. Service was on point, he was the only server, served many tables but very efficient. Price is reasonable compare to other restaurants. Lunch for 2: 2 dishes, a Guinness and water for 34 Euro

Visited Dublin, my Sis in Law suddenly craving for Malaysian food. So decided to search in Yelp, and couldnt believe this restaurant name pops up. Food was really good, recommended

First time having Malaysian food and I was pleasantly surprised. Love their appetizer plate- skewered satay chicken, chicken wings, shrimp balls, egg rolls. Veg sum sam a spicy dish with shrimp paste, okra and cuttlefish. We also ordered Kopitiam chicken- also a spicy stewed chicken dish. The best part was dessert- fried bananas a la mode. Such a perfect treat after a robust and spicy dinner.

I just want to go back. But I can't - - only had one night in Dublin. I am finding this very sad. Such superb food - - the presentation, the exacting attention to detail, the fabulous textures of the vegetables and cuttlefish, the enchanting flavors. Boffo. You can go a few doors down and pay a couple Euro less for a greasy box of noodles, but this, this, is high art, it is cuisine at its finest. Passed by on the way to The Black Sheep pub, and was drawn to it immediately. Beautiful interior, stunning lighting. And then reading the Yelp reviews at the pub while savoring a Galway Bay double IPA - - it was like a moth to a flame. There is a major problem with the menu: you want to have EVERYTHING, but that is impossible, in one sitting. Rice is separate, another 2 to 4 Euro, depending on your choice (plain/fried/coconut milk&chicken). I usually consider rice table decoration, but one bite of the silky, aromatic fried rice with egg and it was like a meal on its own. And the veggies with cuttlefish: just gorgeous to looks at, every element with unique color and sculpted shape, and different toothiness - - every bite bliss. My one whatsis was the heat level. There was no sweat-inducing dragon fire. I thought it was going to pack a punch. My fear is that they took one look at the blond hair and pale face and left it out - - so it might be worth having a chat about heat levels when you order. Otherwise, super, super attentive, kind, and gracious service. If you happen to go there: I am so jealous.

Do you like spicy food? Then look no further! Kopitiam will cater your taste buds! Warm or cold, spicy or sweet, simple or outstanding! The restaurant was recently opened not too long ago and it has been such a pleasure to see it bloom! This restaurant takes me back home the moment I walk in! The word Kopitiam translates to Coffee Shop in Malaysia. From the settings of the tables to the theme of the restaurant, it has represented Malaysia well. Of course, taking into consideration that they do have limited space. Staffs are really friendly(they try to be as much as possible when it's busy as well, do bear with them and exercise some patience) and they remember you well if you are a loyal customer! As far as I know, they are currently operating with two staffs and the business owner occasionally steps in to help which I think is a great thing because they understand or at least will get to understand and hear more of customer's feedback. Moving on to food, there are several selections of food that you can order. From chef's special to seafood corner to nasi lemak to noodles! Whichever selection it is that you want! My personal favourites are the seafood! If you are not a fan, don't worry! There are plenty of other options! Such as noodles, rice and even just starters if you are starting off and dipping your toes into malaysian cuisine! There are selections of desserts that are from Malaysia and drinks that you may like! If you are a fan of spicy food, don't hesitate to pop yourself over to Kopitiam! and no, I'm not being paid to do this! I am actually submitting this review in order to get this restaurant promoted further and was astonished that they weren't on Yelp! I absolutely love going to this restaurant. I really really do.

I was in Malaysia about 8 years ago and the food is absolutely amazing, I was very excited about a little piece of a Malay experience in Dublin. The owner was really attentive and took very good care of us explaining all of the dishes and he even said he'd order for us so that we had a good experience. For starters he brought us a variety of the starters so that we could try a few. These were nice although the deep fried ones were pretty oily. Not a hugely different experience from another Asian restaurant. The problem with the owner choosing our dishes is that I have no idea what I ate! The main course was delicious, I had a chicken dish in a hot and spicey sauce with rice. My friend had a lamb curry-ish dish which he devoured. We just had ice cream to finish off as we were pretty full at this stage. Bonus points for Langkawi because they had lassi which I absolutely love but you can only get sometimes, I had a scrumptious mango lassi. Yum.

The owner and head chef, Alex, is a really nice guy and he managed to find the time to come out in between cooking delicious curry's and say hello to all the customers! The food, was so authentic and fresh and was really good. I had the prawn fritters to start (battered prawns with a sweet and sour sauce) and then the squid gulai curry as a main and it was fantastic! The squid tasted so fresh and the rice was very nice aswell! The sauce had a perfect spice and really flavorous taste to it. This is definitely worth a visit if your looking to go out to ballsbridge / town for dinner and want a delicious and not expensive Asian cuisine! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

They have all the usual Chinese dishes you would expect with a few Malaysian dishes too. There is one dish on the "Chef's Specials" section of the menu. It is simply called "I like it crispy". It is one of the nicest dishes I have ever had from a takeaway. It is pork in a deliciously crispy, and slightly sweet batter. It's drizzled with a mildly spicy black bean sauce. If you like crispy things then you will love this. They also do a mighty fine Mapo Tofu too. Once or twice they have forgotten something or made a mistake with my order but after a call they quickly supply me with what's missing usually with a little extra treat by way of apology. The staff are all lovely and get anything sorted right away. Shangri-La is now my go to takeaway for when I want to gorge myself. Well worth a try.

My partner is a Chinese from Malaysia and for this, its always a real bonus. Wow, the food is always good - we are never disappointed with the food there. Even my partner is impressed with most dishes he got, especially the mee mamak which he really loves. Their chicken balls are GORGEOUS and my favourite side dish there is chilli & pepper squid (I would go to heaven just for them!) I usually order Chicken/Beef Nyonya from them - I always love it but the problem is it is never the same - sometimes its nicer, sometimes its not bad, sometimes, its SO GOOD - it depends on who the chef is. Delivery people are good - apart from this girl who won't give us change - for some reasons, she is unwilling to return even a small amount of change, assuming that we would automatically tip her! :o We will recommend SL to anyone in Dublin :-) even our friends from London were quite impressed.
