I've eaten at Morton's Steakhouse in other cities like Dallas, but this is the first time I have eaten at Morton's here in Toronto and it was a very pleasant experience. I started with a classic Caesar salad, and then had the Wagyu Westholme Filet Mignon with the Truffled Cream Corn as the side and a glass of Malbec Red Wine. The medium rare Filet Mignon was done to perfection and the Truffled Cream Corn perfectly complemented it. Don't go there to eat at the bar as a lone woman. I went there to have a bite to eat at the bar, and they did the bare minimum to serve me. Going out of there way for the men, and not even checking to see how my food was or if I needed anything. The man next to me had to get there attention to bring me some condiments because they treated me like I was invisible. I was going to stay for a glass of wine after my meal but decided to settle up with a minimum tip and go elsewhere. The food was fine, somehow I can't uncheck the improvement selection. read more

An old school steak house underneath the Park Hyatt Hotel, Morton's delivered on their food. We ordered a filet mignon with a lobster tail, an aged steak, and a few sides and apps to share. Would highly recommend their bacon wrapped scallops but wouldn't get the fries again (not super exciting or fit well with the meal). They had a few cocktails and an extensive list of wines. We really enjoyed their old fashion but it was on the sweeter side. Service at the beginning was very attentive, sometimes even too much but as the night got busier it slowed down. We did have to wait for the bill a bit but that's around when the place was at its busiest. Since we went for a belated birthday, they brought us a little lava cake with a candle which was a nice touch. The decor is traditional and fits well for a steakhouse. Would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion if you're feeling like fancy steak or seafood. read more

Our party of 5 arrived for a birthday celebration and our menu was personalized with my friend's name on top, so it was a really nice touch! Our server was nice and professional. She knew the menu really well and made suggestions. The ambiance was okay, dark but kind of elegant. We had an early dinner reservation at 5PM, so it was empty for a while until people started to arrive later. We ordered the lobster ravioli because we were told there were 5 pieces which was perfect for us to share, but we received the lobster mac and cheese instead. It was pretty good, so we just accepted it. The burrata salad was ok. The dressing was too tangy and something in it put me off. We got the grand ocean platter from the raw bar which was enough for all of us to finish. I really liked the ahi tuna poke. We got some sauteed brussels sprouts which I thought was mediocre at best. I've had amazing brussels sprouts elsewhere. The matchstick fries were really good, and I liked that it was a lot of them. Our friend recommended the Lyonnaise potatoes and that was one of the things I enjoyed a lot. For the meat we ordered the wagyu filet and prime NY strip, nothing really out of the ordinary. For a steakhouse, the selection felt meh to me. The wagyu was good, and the strip tasted like any other steak to me. I enjoyed my time with my friends, but the food and dining experience wasn't anything spectacular. I wouldn't dine here again. I'd rather keep going to Jacob's, which never disappoints and is exceptional each time. read more

Had recommendations from a friend, but "not great, not terrible" is how I would put it. Perhaps a matter of personal taste, but I find food far too salty. At first I thought it was just a dubious batch with the soup, but the steak came on the saltier side too. The latter was edible. Service was lukewarm save for one waiter, but the ambience and location are great, which I understand is what the premium is for. Subpar to say the least... so apparently this place is considered one of the finest steakhouses in the GTA... hmmmmmmm I guess i'm wayy too spoiled since I live in Montreal and this is way below what I'm usually use to. Let me start off with the pros: The ambiance: was fine dining elegant attire minus the leaking ceiling lol was just worried with my luck that the roof would cave in on me. Service was exceptional and really great can't complain! Our waiter was super friendly and quick he got our drinks and all our food requests in quick and met all our needs. Cons: Food: Below good:/ my Caesar salad was awfully over dressed it was more of a soup than a salad lol and the romaine was wilted. My fries was brought out a year later loool ok no it was brought out after we were already being served our cakes and we had already ate our main course. Fries were cold and stale no surprise maybe they forgot to bring it out. ? My fish was bland but cooked perfectly just absolutely no flavour. I tried my husband's "filet minion" and unfortunately, It felt like it was a New york strip cut (cheaper cut) in a baseball shape to mimic a filet minion .. i think they tried to cheat a carnivore who they thought knew nothing about steak LOL .. can't fool me it looked dry and tasted super bland! First of all, don't expect to have any kind of a conversation without having to yell across your table to your dinner companions. The noise level is extreme, it rivals a rock concert. Tables are on top of each other, no room. Now what about the food? It is a steak house after all. Two of the four steaks ordered at our table were undercooked. Unacceptable! This is the one thing you would think you could rely on. Nope! And what was the solution? Put the steaks into an oven to cook it further. To say it was a disappointing experience would be an understatement. I would ask them to do better but it appears that they have chosen to rely on a reputation garnered over many successful years to bring people in. Was in the mood for a great place for a steak. People said this was the place to go. A bit pricey but when you want to treat yourself why not go all in. The service was top notch and the wait staff were professional and on the ball . For service I give a 100 out of 100 Now Down to the food . Started off with César salad and wedge salad. Thé Cesar salad was rushed and looked like it was thrown on the plate. The Romain salad looked like it was starting to wilt and they drenched it in dressing with no flavors. I have to say they were generous with the Parmesan shaving . Thé iceberg lettuce wedge should be a classic. Classics mistake this night. The iceberg was fresh but the dressing was missing the blue cheese punch. A little bit of blue cheese crumble with some egg and a few bacon pieces for decoration. Main course Thé filet mignon was a nice piece and cooked well and was tender. How ever they did not season the fillet mignon and was bland. I had to salt and pepper my steak . The sea bass was cooked perfectly but again the chef did not season it. No flavors at all had to add salt and pepper to it as well. The French fries They came out in a nice portion size however they were not cooked all the way and were still cold in the middle. Mussel Scallop lobster caviar salad 9.5/10 this was delicious, the scallops were very well cooked wirh perfect texture and good flavour. Arugular Berry goat cheese salad 7.5/10 this was was tasty but we didn't taste any of a sauce. The little bit of salt on the Arugula was good, but it was mostly aurugula. Reserved on Open Table at Morton's Toronto. Wrote that the occasion was a birthday. Arrived early to tell the waiter it was a birthday and to pick a dessert for the celebration. We all ordered dinner but asked the waiter, Richard, to bring my grandson's French fries right away since he was hungry. Took over 20 minutes! My son in law ordered Lobster Bisque. They poured the soup into the bowl, but never brought him a soup spoon! Ordered my steak medium rare but it came medium. Shouldn't a steak house know how to cook a steak to the right temperature? First of all I can't speak highly enough about the staff here.I've gone to Morton's for years and held many a corporate function here.I had dinner here last weekend with clients from Europe and I have to say it was the worst beef we ever had.Ordered choice tenderloins as per menu and all I can say is that the product was absolutely so disappointing.I can't believe that I'm saying the Tenderloin steaks were so chewy.To say I was mortified would be an understatement when my clients could not eat the steaks without having to wash them down with copious amounts of water.I'm a connoisseur of good food and this was terrible. Shame on you Morton's!Obviously you are cutting costs by buying inferior products.You just lost a loyal customer forever. read more

They even custom printed "happy anniversary" on our menu! However, if it were just for the food, I wouldn't come back. I had the shrimp Alexander for a starter, and while it was delicious, it really was just four shrimps for over $20. It was overpriced for me. My boyfriend's lobster bisque; however, was fantastic. When it came time for steaks, they were cooked well, but somehow lacked flavour compared to ones I've had before. I've had the same quality at the Keg, for a better price... But our side of twice-baked potatoes was absolutely heavenly. And dessert? The hot chocolate lava cake is one of the best I've ever had. So, it's a mixed bag! Considering our bill came to $450 CAD for 4 people after the $100 discount for staying in the hotel, I expected more. There were no options on the menu for my vegetarian mother, and the server somewhat brusquely suggested a salad could be made vegetarian (by removing over half the ingredients) and wrote that down despite my mother's hesitation. My father's Mahi Mahi was fine, but somewhat overcooked. My steak was fine, but somewhat overcooked. The food was okay, but didn't blow us away. Drives me crazy when the "by the glass" offering is uninspired and short. 6 reds from $12-20 but nothing great. Already paying a per glass markup, let me drink something good. Mixed crowd of business diners and dates but must carnivores at this hour are in their 40s and 50s but attire is simple. Come in long pants, slacks or jeans and a collared shirt. You'll be fine. In a suit, you will fit in too. Mortons does a great job of drawing the evening out with elaborate "presentations". Bread- massive onion loaf the size of your head. Well, maybe not yours, but it's big. I actually have no idea the size of your melon. Next rolls the menu. If you've not been here it maybe interesting but for steak livers, you know what red meat looks like. It is however a great representation of the cut sizes. But that's not all. After showing a selection of Prime Beef under a very appetizing layer of plastic wrap, fish too makes the cut along with veggies. Of you've never been to a market and seen a real tomato, bundled asparagus, red onion or a basket of greens, you my friend, are in for a treat. Before the cart rolls away, a real menu is handed over. Yes, it's fun. The first time. Sort of like the first time to the top of CN tower. Have you ever been back? See what I mean? Enough of my sarcasm. How's the food? The bread is warm and delicious. Fun, seafood starters but I like to start with greens and the Chop (save a couple bucks from the wedge) is fine. When it comes to beef, I go for 2 cuts: filet and prime rib. Since the rib is only offered on weekends (this is true of many steak houses), I signed up for a filet, medium rare and Oscar style. What you'll get should you follow my lead is the most tender of cuts with some lump crab and hallendaze sauce. It's traditionally served with a few spears of asparagus too and thats true here. . Ask for the sauce on the side so you can really taste the amazing flavor of the beef. Unfortunately, the beef is cut in two and on an English muffin so much of the heat escaped. My side dish was hotter. I'll know better next time and so will you. If you want to spurge, order the filet "bone in". You really can taste the difference. Sides are a-la-cart. My money's on the creamed spinach but many go for the hashbrown. I worked in a steak place in Las Vegas years ago and am still surprised when people want this for dinner. Just not me. The spinach does not disappoint. Desert is good here even though I'm not a sweets guy. Pre order the suflay of it's your thing. The low down, dirty shame is that Morton's tries really hard. Historically, I don't rate them more than a 4 and on average, a 3. Why? They could do better. Yes I'm picky and paying skhsjsjss for this meal with 3 glasses of wine, I can be. It's the little things. 1. Dinner for one, 1hr 45mim. If I had someone to talk to, great. But I'm a single guy. 2. Tries too hard with presentation. Ask me of I would like to see the cuts or want the giant bread. I don't want either. 3. My steak is consistently dry. Medium rare beef has deep juices. I want those. Where are yours? 4. From beginning to end, an unforgettable experience. Upon arrival, we were asked if we'd like our jackets checked. We were promptly guided to our table, right by the open kitchen so we could observe. Our server, Kenny, exceeded all my expectations. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and his passion for food was clear. We decided upon having the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail (best I've ever had & very impressive item to order as it comes with dry ice) and bacon-wrapped scallops for appetizers. ORDER THE SHRIMP COCKTAIL. It's delicious. Kenny even mentioned that having the scallops first followed by the crisp shrimp cocktail is the best order to have our appetizers in. We ordered the French Onion Soup and he kindly had it split into 2 separate bowls without us asking. Not overly sodium-laden and very generous on the cheese. Could have used a bit more onions. By now, we were in trouble. We were full but our steaks arrived and they were perfect. I had the 7 oz. wagyu ribeye cap steak which was intensely rich and flavourful but a little too rich for my preference. Cooked & seasoned to perfection! My partner had the 16 oz. Ribeye steak and it was evenly charred and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The sides are separately ordered and we opted for bacon brussel sprouts. Nothing to write home about for the side but the steaks? Yes, you should come to eat here. Customer service really made it here along with fantastic quality food? It's a no-brainer. I don't get the hype. So I'll first qualify by saying I'm not a big steak guy so this may discredit my opinion in your eyes, but Morton's is just an ok steakhouse (especially comparing it to Jacob's or Hy's). We got: - French onion soup: Best part of the meal for me. Not as good as Barbarian's (which has the best onion soup in the city), but this was great - lots of gooey cheese, just the right amount of bread, and the soup wasn't overly salty. - Mac and cheese: Looked really good until we dug in and it tasted a bit bland. - Filet mignon with shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops: The steak was cooked to the right temperature and had good flavour, but the shrimps and scallops basted basically like butter and were a bit rubbery. - Jumbo shrimp: Lacked any distinct flavour. - Morton's legendary hot chocolate cake: I know I may be the minority here, but it was far from legendary. Tasted like many other chocolate lava cakes I've had. I guess what also made my Morton's experience less than expected was the dining area itself: super crammed (to the point that servers were having a difficult time navigating through guests as they stood from their tables; we even witnessed a patron crashing into a server), really noisy, and there was a bar area which weirdly almost seemed like a sports bar with all its tvs. So it was really not the vibe I was expecting from this place. I may have been expecting too much, but for the prices Morton's charges, I was hoping for a more fine dining experience. I really hate to be the voice of dissent, but I gotta call it how I see it and taste it. Hubby and I were really split between giving Morton's a 2 or 3 star but the fact that neither one of us would return here solidifies my rating. Considering this place is $$$$ the expectation is high for top service, top quality food AND great ambiance. Made reservations online without a hitch. Found free neighborhood street parking (9pm-midnight) which saved us from the $15 valet parking fee. The host seated the two of us in a cozy booth for four. The dining area is decorated in dark colors with dim lighting and soft music, but even though the setting was intimate, the noise from the bar and the loud patrons in the dining room did not make for a romantic evening (late dinner Wednesday night). There is a dress code mentioned on their website, so I came in a dress and my hubby wore his suit. Looking around there were some in similar outfits, but others were in jeans, tshirts and tennis shoes. Our waiter started off cheerful and attentive but hubby noticed his demeanor change after he realized that we would not be ordering any wine, hmmmm. We ordered the following: - Morton salad - too much mayo and egg which didn't compliment our meal at all. - Porterhouse Steak (doesn't come with any sides) was tender and flavorful but I've had more juicy steaks elsewhere. The sear could have been better and check out those fissures! - 6oz Filet Mignon (tender not as well seasoned as the porterhouse, good thing I ordered the foie gras- Cognac butter to go with it) with 2 bacon wrapped scallops (tasted better after using the sweet sauce that accompanied it) and 3 shrimp (again tasted better with the sauce that accompanied it) and three spears of asparagus (tender crisp, and delicious). - Matchstick Parmesan Truffle Fries were overcooked and hard and the truffle flavor was too powerful and overwhelming. - Morton's "Legendary" Hot Chocolate Cake with a caramel drizzle topped with powdered sugar and raspberries with a side of vanilla ice cream. It was decadent but with a price tag of about $15, I expected better tasting chocolate and vanilla ice cream to make it legendary. - Complimentary onion bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside and came with butter that was bland (maybe they used unsalted butter): nothing special. No disrespect to the owners, apparently there are many loyal patrons who feel differently than I do. If you're one of those patrons, more power to you, different strokes for different folks. There's no right or wrong in Yelp reviews just opinions, so this review is mine. NOTE: If you ask if they do anything special for a birthday, they will bring out their "Legendary" Hot Chocolate Cake for you topped with a candle. Not what it used to be :(. Morton's had been our go to steakhouse for years so we are really disappointed that we won't be returning. We had to send both our steaks back as my husband ribeye was overcooked and my fillet tasted like liver. The server took the steaks back and left our side dishes on the table so they were cold by the time the replacement steaks came back. The server acknowledged that my husband's steak was not cooked to his request but said nothing to me or asked me how my second steak was. Not my first time at Morton's or having a fillet ( I'm well aware of what a good fillet should taste like) and the replacement steak was what I should have had in the first place, so why not start out with that or even acknowledge the fact that the first steak may not have been a good one ( it happens) but it's how that is handled by the server which resonates with the customer. We did not feel the customer service was there anymore at all and we recognize that there are plenty of steakhouses to visit in the city. read more

We randomly wandered into Morton's after catching a Toronto Fashion Week show in Yorkville. I wanted to treat my fiance for joining me at Fashion Week and this was the perfect place to do so! As soon as we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The host took our jackets and led us to a very nice booth table. Our server was really lovely and super attentive. She took her time explaining every dish to us in detail. We decided to get a french onion soup to share and our server kindly had the kitchen split our app into two bowls. The soup was really good, loaded with melted cheese and not overly salty (I find French onion to be super laden with sodium most times). Yum! For my main, I selected the salmon with cream sauce and crab plus shrimps and bae chose the NY strip peppercorn steak. Since entrees don't come with sides, we selected the truffled cauliflower mash to accompany. Bae said his steak was one of the best he has ever had. I really enjoyed my main - the salmon was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce with big pieces of crab was so so good. Bae didn't really enjoy the mash as he found the truffles too overpowering (!) so our server kindly brought us a side of horseradish mashed potatoes instead. Can't go wrong with a Morton's steak, except for ........I received a promotional email for a 3 course set meal for $30. Thinking this was too good to be true and looking at all the fine print, decided to go with 3 other people. Long story short, the promotion was not available in Canada even if you could reserve in for the Toronto location from the email. We nicely expressed our disappointment and a suggestion was made to try their "off menu" $71 special. We all took it. We had a fun time that night and the food was good. Morton's comped one of our bottles of wine. However, we were disappointed at the false advertising. We were clearly not the only ones who came in for this special. One person from our party decided to nicely write to Morton's head office about this. Head office apologized and offered a free bar bite and a drink at the bar. So, off to Morton's again. This time one of the wait staff was less than enthusiastic to serve us. I do have to mention that the other waiter was very pleasant and offered great service. When it came time to pay, we didn't know if we had to call the Manager over to claim our free stuff. Turns out we didn't have too. Good thing cause the Manager didn't seem to be the friendliest guy. He didn't come over to make sure we were ok given the circumstances. We've been back to Morton's in Toronto since this issues. I recently dined here for a corporate function. I haven't been to a Morton's location in years, and my best experiences were in the Chicago location. The Toronto location is in the Yorkville area; however, there is so much construction and renovation going on here, that most people don't wish to travel to this area. We attended as a group on a busy evening, and as such, the staff and hospitality was a bit slow. We had a private room upstairs for our meeting, the the first thing noticed about most patrons was that it was absolutely frigid in the room! We asked the staff to correct this, but it didn't help. Our set menu consisted of appetizers of either the Caesar Salad or Onion Soup; neither was particularly memorable for all guests, but the consensus was that dishes were quite salty and overdressed for the salad in particular. Our main options were the Filet Mignon, the Ora Salmon or the Chicken - I chose the Filet Mignon; this dish typically has a cut of meat enrobed with bacon, but this was not the case. Additionally, I must state that when I arrived I had mentioned that I would have to leave early and wished to have my main/dessert to go. The mains were supposed to come with asparagus and mashed potatoes; however, the meal was quite delayed and my meal only consisted of a filet of beef with mashed potatoes. Dessert was a trio of mixed berries, a wonderful chocolate mousse and cheesecake - This was the saving grace!! Although I had it to go, it was still delicious! Overall, my experience with Morton's has been exceptional at the original location. I think people dine at this location in Toronto for the name and the fact that it's in Yorkville. I can see why this place is called (Morte)ons now! Went with a group of around a dozen friends to celebrate my buddies birthday. I was fairly excited myself because I've never tried the chain before and the reviews were great. We scheduled a reservation for 9:30pm and were promptly seated. I liked the personal customized menus but that was probably the best part of the service as everything went downhill afterwards. For a restaurant as large as a Keg steakhouse, we expected the service to be fast. With most tables empty by this time, we were looking forward to celebrating our buddies birthday with our initial round of drinks but it took over half an hour for the first round. Then after ordering the food, the real wait started. We probably waited close to one hour before we got our first taste of appetizers. Than another hour long queue before the mains. It felt like I was lining up for Chick-Fil-A minus the actual hype. The nail to the coffin was the wait for the bill because by then, we were the only table in the restaurant. We waited over 30 minutes before the bill arrived and frustration increased when the waiter screwed up the bills. In fact, my bill shown below was messed up twice so my colleague just decided to etransfer me because it was faster than waiting for the waiter to reprint it again for the third time. And the worst part was all the other servers (who were clearly idle and paid no attention to us) were just sitting around enjoying the atmosphere while the one waiter used ONE debit machine (they have 5) to serve a table of a dozen. We came at 9:30pm and didn't leave until 1am as shown on the receipt. I was ready to change the preadded 18% gratuity tip but was too tired and frustrated at that point to. This is why fine dining should always have the tip line printed on the receipt so I CAN CHOOSE WITHOUT JUDGEMENT how much to tip. Food wise? What you'd expect when paying for an expensive steak. I ordered a medium rare porterhouse and an ocean platter. The steak was cooked a bit on the rare side but the truffle butter made it acceptable. The ocean platter is definitely great value. But the wait times killed the appetite and taste of both. Overall absolutely terrible dining experience. I'd rather go to the Keg because service is king. read more

I have been to Morton's on several occasions. This happens to be a restaurant people like to come to for celebrations. (And they have a great concept with their personal customized menus) I find the food at Morton's average at best. No real complains, just average food. The pricing however is not average. It's on the upper end of the pricing scale, and for average food, I would recommend going somewhere else. read more
