Unfortunately, she couldn't enjoy her time at Unity, due to continuously being called the "n" word in a disrespectful & offensive manner. The staff did nothing. And the 2 times she my niece had to defend herself, she got punished. The Hispanic children, in efforts of trying to be cool, often referred themselves, as the "n" word. Upon her graduation (class of 2023), she was quoted as saying, "I'm glad, I don't have to come back to this racist school again!".

As an alumni who played 4 years of starting football, who stuck to a close knit group of non-football friends, who enjoyed his classes taught by veteran teachers, and watched countless peers complain and moan about the school, while not putting forth any effort to succeed themselves, this school is great. They are working on a new addition to the cafe, in which students are aloud to use electronic devices such as laptops, phones, and tablets. They have recently redone the entire indoor track and field house flooring, have indoor weight rooms, a good sized pool with showers, completely redone tennis courts, and one of the oldest yet largest and nicer looking brick football stadiums in the chicagoland area. I hope those choosing to attend find their time there pleasant and rewarding. They are some of the most important years of your life. The quality of their educations has been extraordinary and both children thrived with clubs, intramurals and other extracurricular activities including a study-abroad in Ireland trip for one child and a Washington DC Art History field trip for another. Shout out to the amazing counselors, Special Education team, and social workers. My kids have favorite teachers but too many to name personally. The arts program is the highest quality. Theater, too! The school board has been doing some wonderful work in the past few years. We appreciate the recent policy in support of transgender students and their work on improving racial equity. We have been really happy at OPRF and my kids are lucky to attend.

All of these people are going to have a very different perspective of the school because they all have experienced the schools in different capacities. I will be reviewing RBHS from the "former student" category of people. The thing that stuck out the most to me as a student (2004-2008) was that, for the most part, the teachers were quite good. Perhaps this isn't something I could necessarily fully appreciate while a current student who was annoyed by the homework load. However, in hindsight, I'm comfortable making the assertion that I received a quality education from quality educators. As a student during those four years, I felt that the social science department was notably the strongest. There were teachers who made me feel genuinely excited about a discipline that I had been otherwise uninterested in before taking their classes. For a teenager, that's a major accomplishment! It's really a shame that the referendum didn't pass and I'm disappointed that the arts were affected by it. I have high hopes for RB's future and I hope the community will be more supportive in the future. A better school = higher property values!

They each found their own unique experiences (music, film, hockey, cross country, etc) to satisfy their curiosities and provide a network of friends. My youngest son is closer to his Fenwick friends today than he is to his fraternity brothers and college roommates. My daughter transferred in from a picnic high school between sophomore and junior years and found the smaller, more accepting community she needed during those formative years. My 4 years of Spanish helped me to work later on a primarily Spanish speaking engineering project, and helped me ultimately marry a Mexican national who spoke no English when we met. Still an excellent school!
