I can never make the classes because it's straight after work or early in the morning. If you need tv while cardio-ing, then you need to bring a radio that tunes into the tv frequencies, I don't really care for it so it doesn't bother me. I don't do the tanning & salon, but they have that too. In fact, most of the cars in the parking lot are tanners, the gym area is usually empty. The weight room can get crowded, but it's not bad. The gym doesn't smell bad, and if it does you can prop open one of the doors. The worst is when somebody axe effects the entire locker room and then it's just plain nasty. I don't shower in the gym because the water smells kinda funks, but they do have hand sanitizers all over the place. One thing that annoys me is the limited weekend hours, especially on Sunday, when it closes at 3pm.

Set up my headphones and started laughing and working out to Modern Family. Until the sound didn't sync up to the show. It was like watching a Chinese Martial Arts movie dubbed over in English. Remember those on Saturday afternoons? So that sucked. And then the bike shut down so there went any stats that was being recorded. Ok so that was enough. Decided I'd go get a manicure since I saw her there when I walked in. Oh no she left 10 minutes ago. How about we post the hours so your customers know And to tip it off no towels and no lockers either? Where do your regulars change! So hopefully I never have to go back to Potsdam again. I got a deep condition, cut, and style (straightened) for only $36 AND the quality of work was to par with what I'm used to in the city. Recently I had some traumatic situations happen in my life causing me to put my hygiene on the back burner, I ended up with a "birds nest" for hair. It was one giant dread lock.. mind you my hair was almost to my waist. I was afraid of the inevitable cut I would need since I'm a big girl and it isn't hard making a cubby woman look butchy, Crystal was awesome!! She did the perfect short cut that framed my round face due to chubby cheeks and I love the options I have with my hair now. Crystal is great to converse with and gives you quality over just trying to get you done so she can move to another client. 2 hours of tedious cutting, washing repeatedly and straightening all the small pieces and she only wanted $22. I suggest this place, ever since they relocated a few months ago the hairdressers are awesome. Jackie is another woman there who can even do a keratin treatment, I only go to Shear Creations for my hair care needs.

She did a good job so I asked if she could book me an appointment with her to touch up the color in my ombre styled hair... Big mistake. My hair looked like I had patchy golden highlights with a root that had grown in for over six months! I thought I would be okay with it, but upon arriving home an hour later I called the salon and asked if the damage could be fixed. I decided to ask for a refund and had my hair fixed elsewhere because why have more damage done to my hair if it could not be done right the first time...? I was told "I don't think we can do a refund" and was out $90... On top of this, while my hair was processing SUNY Potsdam students were outside peacefully protesting. Sarah took the time to go outside and yell, "White Power" as well as make horrific comments to those inside the salon ("I am not racist, but...")... some of whom joined in with the racist banter. Needless to say I will not be going back to Shear Creations anymore. I am appalled the lack of respect for long time customers, but more so for the African Americans in our community.

I also asked that they leave the length and I walked out with 3-4" taken off the length when all I wanted was my layers trimmed up and the shortest layer to hit my jaw line. Which is exactly what I told her. She didn't get it there so I said it needed to come up and then she proceeded to cut and took off the length on all my layers. They take cash only which was also annoying. They only got 2 stars because she was nice but I'd rather a rude stylist that cuts well then what I ended up with. I've never had a haircut this bad.

On way home we all stopped to see amazing Northern Lights Years later went to seminary and tried to make a difference for the Lord. More years later: divorced 4 kids grown up. Teaching in a school for at risk teens in Texas. Waiting for that that final day of unworthy grace.
