The small space is divided into two sections: fancy and casual; but even the casual section has clothes that would be appropriate for the office or "nicer than casual but not quite dressy" nights out. We browsed for a good half hour, and the employee was very good at making appropriate recommendations for the 3 very different guys that I was shopping with. He read their cues to know what each of them was looking for but was not pushy or trying to boost sales by recommending the most expensive items. Any kind of clothing they offer (such as shirts, dress shirts, suits and ties) comes in a wide variety of colours, so this would be a great "one stop shop" to pick out an entire outfit where everything matches. The colours are also very "in" this spring and there are even fancy shorts and dressy short sleeved shirts. Prices are higher, but they are applicable to the designer labels that L'Hexagone carries. It would be appropriate to shop here for parties, clothing for the office, weddings or anything that requires a little more than jeans and the same shirt you have worn to every single party last year. The styles and quality are similar to Parkhurst hats. The fascinators are pretty but honestly, I've purchased the exact same fascinators on eBay for a quarter of the price. However, at the store you get them right away, while on eBay you have to wait for shipping. I never need a last minute fascinator, so I'm cool with paying less and waiting for shipping. I'm not a huge fan of costume jewelry, but if you are, you might find some statement pieces here. They do have some quirky handbags, like one shaped like a teapot or a car. However, the prices are really high for what I feel is not that great quality. They have scarves, broaches, and other accessories too. The store is a bit on the small side but it's full of merchandise, so it does look a little crowded. A nice place to poke around. I've only ever made purchases here during their sales. The only other real hat store I have found is a tiny boutique in an office building in the market, where the Milliner makes everything from scratch and is therefor quite pricey (but again, you really get what you pay for - they are stunning) - I believe Mrs. Trudeau shops there too. When she saw there wasn't an exact match in stock, she checked the artist's website for other shops that sell her work, called two shops to ask if they had them in stock, and helped me plot my route there. That type of service is the stuff that created happy (and loyal) shoppers! This is a cute little shop on Rue Mont Royal, in the heart of the plateau, selling jewelry, cards, stickers, mugs, t-shirts, tea towels, mugs, and other fun gifts made by local artists and reasonably priced. I stop by several times each year and always find something delightful.
