My mother had been in hospital, and it was clear that she could not go back to living alone in her own home (age 97!). We found a fabulous option for her, where she could have all of her own furniture. My brother insisted on moving her bedroom on his own so she could be checked out of the hospital faster. I BEGGED him to let me hire professional movers (and pay for it) and he got angry and insisted on doing it himself. So on top of moving my mother's stuff, I had to ask Meredith to now take two pieces of furniture (that my brother damaged beyond belief in his DIY move efforts) to a furniture repair location - which he happily accommodated. Jim is prompt, reliable, polite, efficient, kind, good humoured and just great to work with - AND his pricing is very reasonable.

They were very professional in their packing up and offered all kind of assistance. We arranged to get into our storage at least 3 times over the years. When we arrived, they had everything ready. We asked them to deliver some items to our daughter, and they did this without delay. When we finally cleared out our storage, they were very helpful. They provided us space to go through our storage items and advised us where to make donations and how to dispose of items for recycling. It was a pleasure dealing with this company. She was only provided with two. the two that she had were two young guys who spent more time having a conversation with each other and arguing in another language, then getting stuff done. when the truck was finally packed it had taken them almost half the time they had to get it done. the most sickening part is when they got to the new place they told my girlfriend who is a single mother with two small children that their time was done and they would have to leave her stuff in her driveway. He is not dealing with this. I was only $22 over my budget. I was happy to tip them so they could buy themselves a sub and a beer for a job. Well done. Short Version: Broke tons of stuff. Quoted $800, showed up and said that it shouldn't take too…read morelong. Billed $1400. Not even remotely competent Longer Version: Talked to Curtis. He seemed great and he gave what I thought was a fair quote. We were moving a basement suite and had 40-50 boxes and few other large items (dresser, wardrobe etc.) They showed up early, seemed courteous and professional. Assessed the situation and said that everything looked good. We had everything in boxes, labelled and organized. They said 2 hours to get it out at the most. Then things went downhill...fast. The two workers started arguing that about whether they should bring another guy to help. The one said they shouldn't but eventually they asked me if they should. I let them know it was fine because I like to trust people to do a good job. They said it wouldn't be more expensive because although I have to pay for each person, they would be more efficient. Reasonable. Noon rolls around and they're still not packed. Remember they said 2 hours tops then brought in another guy to help. So, it should be way under 2 hours, but we are at 4+. I started to notice that the new guy they brought has been on his phone most of the time. Seems like he's putting out fires things for Low Budget Moving. Fair enough, but not really something I want to pay for. The other guys don't really seem to be moving boxes and working hard when I see them in my suite, but when I go up, then their just chatting and doing nothing. I think this was the chief the reason that 2 hours for 2 people became 5 hours for 3 people. That is on the cost side of things, but that's not all. When they showed up they said they would insure only solid wood furniture to be moved without damage. They didn't want to insure cheap IKEA furniture or already packed boxes. That seems fair to me. They broke 2 solid wood pieces of furniture. Replaced none and offered no compensation. One table they admitted to breaking. They just fell on it and broke it. Admitted it and did nothing. The China cabinet they refused to admit they broke but kind of in the same way that a child with chocolate on their face rufuses to admin they are responsible for the missing chocolate. They took some parts of the cabinet and said they'd look into replacing it, but then ghosted me. Lastly, they just sucked at moving. I have a hundred stories from the day but the one that illustrates it best is this. We asked them to move a wardrobe into a corner that they had placed in the middle of the room. It need to be moved about 2 meters. They were struggling to move it, crawling around on their knees, pushing it then putting it down, then and trying to figure out how to move it. Eventually after my wife and watching for a while, we just moved it. It took about 15 seconds for us (minus the few minutes of watching them struggle to do their job). We aren't strong, just healthy 30-year-olds who aren't getting paid by the hour. All in all they were just not competent at the basic task, did not actually work, and broke or damaged a lot of items. Try someone else. Literally any one.

I'm seriously writing this to look out for you…read more Here's the short form, the company's constantly breaching the employment standards act for BC, not only that but they are definitely anything but professional. This is just the tip of the iceberg. There's some major issues within the company they hire without any proper interview nor do they make you sign any forms. They do not pay their workers well and offer no overtime. They also threaten workers with pay deductions. They also fish for reviews constantly. Not only that they will quiet fire employees. Also note they do not provide workers with any formal training or proper handling techniques. Drivers are hired without their drivers abstract being reviewed or even proof of a class 5 license. The company promises unrealistic quotes on work, and will purposefully withhold items until payment is received. If something is broken their first thought is to attempt to hide it as best they can to avoid giving you a discount or resolving the matter properly. Also note if you do find damage to your property the manager will actively make it difficult for you and try to evade your questions and a proper discount. Allegedly within their contracts they say that you must write a good review (despite if they did a terrible job) of the company or they will attempt to charge you. The workers themselves are none the wiser so it's not worth taking your frustrations out of them most of the time they'll get reprimanded if the customer is difficult. Again PLEASE do find a different company and if you must use this one I urge you to be very skeptical and read everything of the contract.

I contacted cody for a moving quote earlier this month, and I noticed how he sounded like he was on…read moremedication that made his thinking really unclear and slow as he sounded very out of it, and as well he kept speaking over top of me and asking me to repeat myself. after he took all of my content and location information he said " i am not in the office now I will have to send you a quote tomorrow morning. " by 11am the next morning I received no quote, so I called cody again and he sounded like he was sleeping or like he was doped up and drugs. he said he will email me the quote by 2 pm that day. 2 pm went by and I did not receive a quote from him so I texted him at 4 pm. Nothing So I went to a concert that night, and came home at 11:30 am and there was no quote from cody. So I texted him with an appropriate piece of my mind, and explained to him how he made himself look blatantly unreliable and that I would never hire him or his father's company nor would I recommend papas moving to a friend or to anyone. cody was ridiculously unprofessional. I highly do NOT recommend relying on or hiring pappas moving.
